Kaveh seems like the kind of person who would be lied to by other people and take advantage of him but of course Haitham would not. My question at that time is why is it kaveh who pay to make the building, not the building's owner? Anyway, don't be an artist who don't take payment for your art. I think what Haitham meant to say to Kaveh is to put some more value(mora) to his craft. It's just that Kaveh values his reputation and social acceptance more than mora it seems. "Glory" over financial stability? Not to mention he's working himself to death just for a smile? It seems like Kaveh should give some priority to himself much more. I also think what Haitham did was painful, but if he didn't, Kaveh would just continue down that path of becoming unsuccessful. Like tough love but more like tough care.

How did you get that he’s envious? He literally says it’s a bottom of the barrel job (rest of Sumeru seems to agree that it isn’t that important) and is only upset when Alhaitham brags about being able to keep his Grand Sage salary even when he goes back to being a scribe. That reads less “jealousy” to me and more like Kaveh is tired of Alhaitham getting rewarded for no reason, or in his own words “getting special treatment”. And of course Alhaitham bullying him about it would only rub salt in the wound because it’s Alhaitham. Not to mention, Alhaitham literally only chose to be a scribe because it’s easy. With that in mind, it’s entirely feasible that Kaveh who is renowned throughout Sumeru and graduated from the Akademiya with honors, is overqualified and could apply to be a scribe too if he wanted, but in my opinion it seems as though he enjoys his work as an architect because he’s an artsy guy that likes to create thing.

I rambled in that second paragraph but he’s a successful and renowned architect. He’s only bankrupt now because he made an extremely poor financial decision which put him in debt to Dori, not because being an architect doesn’t pay (as far as we know) I don’t think Kaveh has anything to “envy” Alhaitham about, basically.

And that's what Kaveh feels. Here's the scenario. Imagine when you're an aspiring architect, who has a big dream, responsible for doing such hassle with creative projects in town, design thinking, surveys, taking trips, researching, etc when your friend is only working in the office with the professors in documentating their speeches, with no ambition, got MORE moras than you. Won't you get jealous with your friend's job? Of course you will, at least you'd feel bad about your own job, and thinks that you worth more than that. Kaveh thinks he is worth more than Haitham to get money and recognition because of his hard work and workload. For him, all Haitham's job doesn't require any passion or brain just like his job. This is what I interpret based on the secret dialogue. I understand your point that Kaveh is an artsy guy, but I think he's also craving for recognition. He's freaking ambitious. Hoyo even stated that Palace of Alcazarzaray is his magnum opus, which means "greatest work." If he's not ambitious, then he wouldn't dare to take the project. An architect needs portfolio, and the Palace would get him recognition he wants. But, just like your statement, he's too naive by making harsh decision. I know my theory has flaws bcs they just said "Kaveh made poor financial decision," but I'm just interpreting the event itself. Why he antagonizes Alhaitham so much? Yes, Alhaitham has more money than him, but what else? Rivalry? Maybe. Or maybe it was Haitham who told him not to make poor financial decision and he chose not to listen because of his ambition? And maybe he hates himself for that. But again, he has poor emotional regulation, so he tends to project his anger towards Haitham. Who knows? So, about this... maybe we need to let Hoyo to finish the story and we can judge it later.

Yeah, for the last part, I did think immediately, "Ah crap not the 'we used to be best buddies, but now we're not situation' yet again". The Kaveh I know from fanon would never stand for Haitham's low blows, and Haitham in fanon always has some soft landing for his insults to Kaveh. The idea we all had for the two of them is much healthier, a banter-often, caring-underneath kind of " marriage". The little smiles they throw at each other, the intentional key stealing that even became an idle, showing how big of a part it became in AlHaitham's persona, the "I annoy you because it's fun" energy. The reason I mention this is to highlight the difference between what is shippable and what turns out to be the reality. I'm well aware fanon aren't anything in the face of canon. I was just pointing out that most of the ship started by what we misinterpreted (probably) as endearment under Haitham's tone, back when they met at the library. Kaveh was also much more counteractive, it seemed like a good balance where they know what they dance around. Haitham was saying something like "Oh really? I dare you move out then" which sounds like an undertone of "I know you won't, this is a joke" (it even sounded sing song, which we know a tone he would never use with anyone else) while Kaveh is mostly not-actually-offended, only going along with the fake fight. Then I haven't even played this new character quest, and already I felt the illusion shattering. (Pun not intended.) AlHaitham was indeed being a real dick with no hidden meanings. Kaveh was someone who didn't know his place still, but unlike before he's just at a loss over the remarks (seriously I went "oof he really went there, that's low"). Like before, when there's them going back and forth, it feels fun. Now it just reminds me of the fifteen year old friendship that pains me and I will never want to talk about again, but still can't avoid from caring about. Kaveh cares about him, a lot it seems. He doesn't want to argue but of course you have to yell if you talk to a wall. Yet AlHaitham can't see it. Whatever he does is for his own gains. He is a 'what you see is what you get'. Not blaming him for that, he made clear of what he is like and that he doesn't care what others think a thousand times by now, but you see, the shippers' idea of their harmonious marriage I can guarantee is not this imbalance and borderline toxicity. Agh, they better get a marriage therapist at this point. I think it'll unironically help their communication issues, regardless of whether they're tussling on the same bed or not every night. About roommates, yeah, they always do have something like a curtain dividing the room in all aspects. The best you can do to get along is to mind your own business.
