Russian President Vladimir Putin observed the "Kavkaz-2020" military drills taking place in the Astrakhan Region in southern Russia on Friday.
The drills, led by Chief of the General Staff Army General Valery Gerasimov, are taking place at several firing ranges and airfields in southern Russia and focus on combating cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
The exercises involve around 1,000 military personnel from Armenia, Belarus, China, Myanmar and Pakistan.
According to the ministry, the drills involve up to 250 tanks, 450 military personnel carriers and 200 artillery systems.
