I get a glimpse of heaven whenever I hear that guitar. Man they could make guitars and Mr. Taylor could play them. Thanks for making my day. No, my year.
Wow! This sounds fantastic! I love Hound dog too. I heard you do a fantastic version of Dust My Broom years ago and I was surprised to hear your Scottish accent here! I thought you were American 😂 I subscribed and I’m looking forward to binge watching all your videos now. Thanks for uploading these. I really enjoyed your heartfelt playing. You really do have a great feel for music. Love this! So glad I found your channel ! I was new to computers and I didn’t know how to find things, or I’d have subscribed before!!
Boy you make me so damn jelouse Snakehips ! First you have Elmore's guitars and now you'v got a Hound dog Taylor guitar. I want one of those but they cost silly money. Sounds great 👍🎸😎
Hey you still out there? Could you ever do me a favor and get a precise measurement on the nut? I just got an old S-180 but it seems like somebody put a different nut on that spaces the strings much too tightly for me, as it impossible to play well. It looks like your spacing is typical and I need to get a nut like that! Thanks. Also, any tips on fixing 4 loose On/Off switches? I saw one video where a guy glues copper wire into the switch plastic to restore the worn off plastic nubs. All my switches are loose, so you can barely control which ones you use. Maybe that's a good thing but I'd like the usual control. Any other ideas? Thanks.
I sold the guitar to a guy in Australia - this video was to demonstrate the guitar for the sale. I’ve got to ho out this morning for a band rehearsal (I’m playing piano & Hammond organ in ablurs band !) - but I could email later on with advice in how I more-or-less sorted the selector switches. Send my a Gmail to my youtube username, if you understand ?
Sorry, I'm selling it ! It was made in Japan, made it's way to America, (probably from new), then made it's way to Scotland, when I bought it some years ago. Now it's going to a Hound Dog Taylor fanatic, in Australia !
Hi there ! No pedals ! I’m actually playing into an Award-Session Blues-Baby-45 solid-state amp ! (well the amp chassis is in a Fender Blues Jr cabinet. The amp controls are the same as a Blues Jr. I get a similar sound with my other Blues Jr amp combo. Gain on at about 4 to 4.5, Volume at about 5. It’s purely the guitar and amp …… and me, and a Moonshine ceramic slide !
@@snakehips81 ..no, I'm not that good☹️....watched your Dust My Broom with the 1930's resonator...amazing. I play a bit on open G, Stones and Zeppelin, but haven't strayed elsewhere yet ?...second question, where you from, as I'm from Edinburgh..
I bought it about 8yrs ago. Being a Hound Dog Taylor fan, I really hoped the guitar would be hreat. I was quite disappointed with it. It stayed in a gig bag for a number of years, then I tried to sell it a few times - but it didn’t sell. More recently, I decided to look at the issues it had and see if I could fix them. The 4 rocker switches that select the pickups didn’t seem to do anything and the pickups where not aligned well, so that the polepieces don’t all sit directly below the strings. The intonation is way off, without much prospect of improving it - so I hardly ever plugged it in for more than a few seconds up to that point. I found a RU-vid video that shows how to take apart those rocker switches and fix the,. I did just that and got them working much better. Having got it to a point that I could demonstrate the guitar working, I put it on ebay - and got a few interested buyers. One guy seemed especially keen, so I did this video for him. No sooner had I done the video, he paid for the guitar. It’s only when I watched the video a few times I realised WHY he wanted it - it sounds awesome !!! Of course, he paid for it, so I sent it to him. One of those regrettable sales ! I just bought a 2-pickup Teisco guitar, a few weeks back - different pickups but same bridge & crap tremolo system. I’ll maybe post a video of it soon. In the meantime, I posted some pictures on the Facebook Teisco guitars page. I pulled out the crap tremolo/bridge both these guitars have, and fitted a simpler string anchor plate, still hidden inside the original bridge cover - so no one will know. Gonna use on of it’s pickups for my friend’s National reso guitar, and add a humbucker and Kay pancake pickup to the Teisco. Hoping it works out well. Will do a video if it does !!!
@@snakehips81 Great answer, thanks. These are not cheap guitars to buy anymore so I'll just have to make sure I play it before buying. I've been watching your channel for years now. Dedicated slide players are hard to come by on youtube and I always enjoy your playing and videos. Cheers.
