I picked up a 2006. The last , year in dark blue metallic... It was the lowest mileage in the nation I could find at 12, 777 MI. That was about four years ago.. ? Been riding 49 years , and turning wrenches , and it's the best motorcycle I have ever been on....
The stock windshield is absolutely fabulous, even though the complaints... But they're not available to buy new, Clearview Shields , from out west made mine... 2 in wider,, tall cut down , to 18 and three quarter inch.. and had the 5-way adjustable vent installed... Once you've had one in a windscreen you'll never go back.....
I have a 2001 Connie like yours. I have a new windshield on mine and it's my winter windscreen. What I did for summer was I took my old windscreen that is still perfectly fine and I have a corless Dremel with a plastic cutting disc that just whizzes through any kind of plastic, and I took the top of my new windscreen and used it as a template and marked my old screen and cut it down about 1/2 height. It is perfect for summertime riding. You get all the benefits of keeping the bugs off of you but so much better cooling. Even when you are at a stop light you get a breeze over you and I cannot tell you how much more comfortable the bike is to ride in the summer now. I have all of almost 20K on mine now. The bike was 16 years old when I bought it and the book keeper I bought it from had all of 5,800 miles on it. It had a brand new set of Michelin radials on it to boot with the little tits still on the tires. He said it was too big for him, he looked like he might have weighed 150lbs., that was why he wanted to sell it. I paid $2,500 for it and never looked back. It still looks brand new and it's blue, I love it. Probably the quickest bike I have ever owned and it purrs like a kitten.
You say you have the other windscreen so all you have to do is get you a plastic cutting wheel for your favorite Dremel tool and you can make yourself a shorty windscreen for the summer months. That's what I did on my 2001 Connie. It's a little bit shorter than half the height of the stock screen and it works great. It lets the wind hit you and cools off really good but when you run into bugs they just flick right over my helmet. I hardly ever get a bug on my helmet at anything over 20 mph. And if you want to you can even paint it flat black or any other color you want. I painted mine flat black and it looks great. Your windscreen is really easy to swap out and the hole pattern is dead on the money. Try it you will see a big difference in the temps when you are riding and even when you are stopped at a light or sign. The wind will help you out a lot. That was something that bothered me during the summer. The windscreens are great for the highway and really anywhere during the winter. It really keeps the wind off of me better than just about any other bike I recall.
I had a gtr 1000 for 7 years, just loved the bike but sold it for the later gtr 1400..... What a mistake, the new model isn't half the bike the old one was, OK it goes faster and stops better but that's it. The old 1000 is a total gem of a bike..
Dude I hope to be able to get one more bike before my time And every review i've seen on youtube, the people love these bikes. My search has ended and now all I need is to have the money to buy a used one. As far as it being heavy, everyone agrees with that. but being able to stand one up by myself is not a negative for me, since I couldn't stand one weighing 350 much less 650!

@@jered2177 Only oil spot ive notice so far is, it's a bit damp around where the shift lever comes out of the block, in both places the shifter is attached... Dont even wanna know what tha'd cost to take apart... But i do notice that the oil level is over the top of Window, and ive read it should be half way between... I'd better drain some b4 there's more leak's...haa l8tr
U find ur's a lil rough/non smooth shift, when goin from 1st to 2nd? And ive had 2nd bounce bk into Nuetral on me while upshifting... I think only cause im not giving enough push when goin from 1st to 2nd... Im trying to shift too lightly...
I know it's been a while but if you're under 5mph, it won't let you shift into 2nd. These bikes have a sensor to go to neutral from first every time unless there is enough speed.
Well,i solded my GoldWing 84 because i found her way to heavy and hard to keep streight at lights,,how is yours? do you have problem of stability at idle?? thanks gervais
@@jered2177 I bought mine new 2001, have 103000 miles and counting and never have had any problems with the Carbs. It never sits longer than a few days, I ride to work and every where on it.
cause weather reasons mine can sit for a for a while been running starbrite/ star tron fuel additive in it and the carbs and gas tank remain nice and clean.
