Nice to see someone talking about the difference in the handlebars between the two bikes. Seating position, which includes bar heights and angles, is becoming more pertinent to me as I get older.
Yeah. I try to be as thorough as possible. I can't ride a supersport anymore, the ergonomics aren't for me. So I try to point out the ergonomics as best as I can. Thanks for watching! I'll have the Ninja 400 in another video very soon. Feel free to subscribe!
I have had my z400 for two years now and absolutely love it. The first bike I had 25 years ago after passing my test was a Kawasaki zxr400. I sold that when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter. She is all grow up so I bought one of these to get back in to riding. A more mature me likes the extra comfort. But have very fond memories of the absolute rev monster that was my zxr400. Great review! You can definitely tour on these, I do without any issues.
this is by far the most comprehensive comparison for these two bikes on youtube, thank you. im a new rider and this is exactly the video i was looking for.
No. They're sized nicely. They're definitely light weight to move around and the tires are little narrower than higher powered bikes. But Kawasaki got the proportions just right with these bikes.
Lol I thought the opposite, I thought they would be bigger in person but felt super small. Its important to note I'm coming from a Kowasaki Versys 650 which is much bigger so thats probably why it felt so tiny. Also I'm not a big dude at all, only 5'8"
Great detailed review! So good, you got me subscribed to your channel. This helped a lot about my choosing between these bike. Leaning towards with Z400 😊
Thanks so much for watching and subscribing! That means a lot! I'm glad you found it useful! I've owned a number of lower displacement bikes, and they're just great for having fun, and zipping around everywhere. I love flying through the revs and finding the perfect gear coming out of corners. You can't go wrong with either of these bikes, but I'm glad that this video helped show some of the differences that may matter to you!
The Z400 and Ninja 400 are the bikes I recommend for more riders than any other bikes! They're excellent for beginners and plenty of fun for experienced riders too! You can't find the feeling of these lightweight bikes in bigger faster bikes. Thanks for watching! Feel free to subscribe! I've got a lot more planned for this channel!
@@charliebravo9522 you have your eyes on a great bike, I’ve become comfortable on it pretty fast, still have a lot to learn but I do not regret my choice.
Great comparison. I just got the Z as an beginner bike and I love it only reason I didn’t get the ninja is because everyone where I live has 1 and I want to be different.
As for the handle bar v clip on difference, is the clip on inward angle actually more of a neutral /ergonomic fit? Id think more straight across would put more stress on your wrists and therfore induce comfort issues. I feel that on my mtb rides vs a cruiser style bicycle.
I know exactly what you're saying with bicycles. Honestly, I think both of these are very much within the comfortable angle. Neither one is in any way uncomfortable for me. I think more people will prefer the Z over the Ninja for the little bit of extra leverage that the wider bar will allow, but from a comfort perspective, I think they're both good.
great vid, it took me 4 months to track down the z400 in my area, (i bought it while it was still in the crate) with just a little over 2000mi now on mine i love it, i get an avg of 60mpg and i spend almost no money on gas,HEHE.. and there light enough to be thrown in the back of my trucks bed with ease.....the only thing i complain about are the mirrors, my arms get in the way 😁
Awesome! Thanks for sharing your experiences! If it's not too much trouble, would you mind subscribing? I'm still trying to build my audience of people who love Kawasaki vehicles!
@@anubisa2419 I understand, I know a few people wish I was still doing that, but I think Gabi and Charlotte are doing a great job there, and this is a better situation for me. I have much more flexibility to build this channel, but also to take on several other projects which people don't see on camera. I'm really enjoying the variety of challenges that I'm now able to pursue in this next phase of my career.
Hmm I noticed the front tire on the Ninja 400 has a big brown spot on them, what is it? I saw same thing in a dealership on a new but previous model year
They come in thin metal framed crates, and if those crates are exposed to even a little bit of water or moisture, they can rust. If the bike was unloaded in the rain, or the crate was stored outside at the dealership before they assembled it (common) you can see a little bit of rusty water on the bottom of the cage which can stain the tire.
Great video you say they have loud horns good because I never own a motorcycle with a loud horn. It always puzzles me way manufacturer’s of USA motorcycle always use wimpy horns.
Awesome! Just curious. What made you buy both? A lot of people have to make a decision between one or the other. Getting both is definitely the right decision! 😃
Brilliant review. So many say they are beginners bike to that I say rubbish. I have owned a T 100 and the T120 and my Ninja is faster and more fun and very cost effective on all accounts. If I lived in Germany I just might want a bigger bike but living in the U.K. you can’t legally use a bigger bike to its limit so this is why I chose the Ninja 🥷 The only thing I have changed is the horn as people don’t hear it at NSL speed
Thanks for sharing! When it comes to these 400cc bikes, I really have an issue with calling them beginner bikes, or people saying that they'll "outgrow" them. I get if if people want a faster, straight line bike, but there are very few people who have so much skill that these bikes aren't enough. These bikes are great for all kinds of people. Again, thanks for watching! Feel free to subscribe!
I'm not exactly sure what you're asking. If you're asking about the wheel speed sensor for the ABS brakes, my understanding is that the brakes are identical between these two bikes.
I get a lot of comments assuming that because it's a lighter bike, people think it will be a feather in the wind at speed. There's MUCH more to a bikes stability than just weight, and this bike is just fine in the wind. Also, I do plan to do riding reviews in the future. Not every bike here will be a demo bike, so I can't ride every bike. Obviously when I can do riding reviews, I will. Thanks for watching! Feel free to subscribe, I have another video on this bike planned for the near future.
I prefer the Ninja, I always loved Ninja looks. My only concern is how your back would feel after a few hours riding. Do you feel the Z would be much better from that aspect or only a minor difference? I would put a Corbin seat on either. Great video by the way, you even have my favorite color for each bike :)
Hello! Thanks for watching. Honestly, I don't think that one is more comfortable than the other. They're both nicely upright and comfortable. If you like the Ninja styling, that's probably the one for you, in my opinion.
The ninja 400 is not a supersport. Because of that it's not going to have the same rider triangle that a ZX6R would have. However, don't be mistaken, that ninja 400 is a very capable track weapon. I've seen the ninja 400 pass Liter bikes on the track. Allbeit, not on straight aways, but on corners, it rocks the competition.
@@chrisreese2965 Exactly! It's more comfortable than a super sport, but fully capable as a corner carving thrill ride! Thanks for sharing! Feel free to subscribe!
Hello mate, been watching your videos,a quick question,I have only ever riden a 160cc Honda PCX scooter,I am ready to move up and was going to buy a Kawasaki z650,do you think that’s a too bigger leap for me and think I should go z400?
Kind sir I really want to know about the seating comfort of piliom and rider on z400 . I would use this bike for daily commute 50 min 1 way to my office also be able to take my wife occasionally to long rides like 2 or 3 hors long . I am worried that I will be pushed fwd and hurt my crouch and get bum ache and also worried that the pilion would start to feel uncomfortable after an hour max . Is this true . If so should I go for cb500F . I only need a street naked a little less than 650cc . But of none of them give comfortable ride then I am forced to choose cb500x .
I hear what you're saying about the front signal lights, they actually ARE visible if you stand back and look at them. There are regulations for the angles that they have to be visible at, and I'll agree if you stand in front of the bike, they don't seem to be blinking all that bright, but they're perfectly safe on the roads.
@@PeterLoweOne The housing of the blinkers personally makes it hard to look at, also, where it's located on the bike is in an odd spot. Isn't it kind of weird how Kawi put LED signals on the z400 vs the more popular bike? maybe the extra fairings warranted cost savings.
@@HondaFan470 Yeah, There are always a few things that make me question why Kawasaki went one direction over another. When I get the chance to ask, I'll try to get some answers.
Im looking to get the Z400 or ninja400 or triumph street triple which would you recomment? I still need to save up though But these are the bike's im looking at can you help me? :) Which would you personally prefer?
So one piece of advice that I'll give you is to never worry about what other people will prefer. Different people have different tastes, and motorcycling is such a personal thing, you want to end up with the best bike for you, not the best bike for someone else. Having said that, the number of people who buy a Ninja 400 or Z400 and don't love it, is a very small number. Those bikes are just so much fun, and so reliable. Both your riding experience and ownership experience will be amazing. And if you ever decide that you're ready for a change, they also hold their value really well, which sets you up nicely to get the experience that you need, and if that teaches you that a different style of riding is more to your preference, you're in a good place to find what you'll need next.
@@PeterLoweOne thanks for such a quick response! It's not that I care what other people think/mean about me and my bike, It's the fact that I like all 3 bikes equally and can't decide :)
If you get either of these bikes, get a slip-on exhaust. Not for the sound, but for body positioning. If your feet are over a size 7, it will throw the right side of your body positioning off and it will annoy the shit out of you. With that said, I have 12,000+ miles on my 2021 Ninja 400 and it's an amazing bike for any skill level.
Like a Z650RS? I think that would be cool, but I don't know if there's that big of a market for a third 400 cc bike given that you have these two, the Versys-X 300, the KLX300 and KLX300SM, there are already a lot of low displacement bikes in the lineup compared to most manufacturers.
Yes! These are both bikes that I recommend for beginners. They are also great for longtime riders who want to improve their sport riding skills. I'm a big fan of these bikes for all riders!
Ah the joys of the RU-vid comment section, where once again I need to remind an American that the language that they speak is named English not Americanish. Your country changed it. The rest of us still speak the language. If you're concerned about people changing the language you're knocking on the wrong country's door. You say it differently because you changed things, not us. It's not great. You can take someone around town, and the more upright seating position would be better than on something like the ZX-6R, but sport bikes in general don't offer a lot of comfort on the rear seat compared to other bikes. The two bikes in this video are also fairly compact in size. So they're capable of taking a passenger around town, but it's not something that the rider or passenger are going to want to do for long trips.
@@ps4_goat716 You need to ride this bike. Or just RU-vid it? It'll go around 200 km/h top speed. We don't need to debate this. You can find the answer for yourself. And if you think a 1000 cc bike only goes the 125?!? You need to see the Ninja H2 R. Spend some time youtubing that bike. There's a video of it going 0-400km/h in 26 seconds. It's 1000 cc.
