I had one the first year they came out. Moved up to a FatBoy. After that was done, felt like it was more of a move across than move up. I miss the Vulcan Custom. Great bike for the money. Put alot of good miles on it and have no regrets buying it.
@@terrancebrooks4014 only downside I see to a Vulcan is they don't hold resell value because it's not a "Harley" but it's over all a quality bike for it's price tag
Why would you even ask this question. It's a 903cc Kawasaki. Put one tooth bigger pulley on the front, there's your sixth gear boys. It's called physics.
In 2011 I rode my 06 Vulcan Classic with a friend who had a full dressed Harley to Wisconsin from Tennessee. Had my loaded up Navy seabag strapped on the back! So yes it can!
Just got my motorcycle license and I'm 18. My dad just bought a 2023 Harley 1600 something but before that he had a 2021 Vulcan 900 Classic and thats what he's giving to me as my first bike. I can't wait to ride it for the first time in less then 3 weeks. I've just been sitting here watching videos on it just waiting for the moment I get to sit back on that bike but as the rider not the passenger.
I had one of these and a single Cherry Bomb glasspack on it. I even left it red! Everyone who heard it was stunned hot good it sounded. Not loud, but GOOD.
Yeah it does need a 6th gear. I self impose a 65mph limit to keep the buzz down on my 900. Rides great at that speed. Cant expect a budget bike to do what a more expensive bike can. My voyager is a dream...everywhere
You can also change the front and rear sprocket to hear it differently. I have a 2020 lT as my second bike and I love it . But dam after all these years put a dam 6th gear on the bike!!!!!
Hi guys I’m in Aussie where the speed limit is max 110km/hr. Do you think the five gears are sufficient/not too revvy at that speed.?(60-65milesp/h I guess. Cheers
@@jameswaterhouse-brown6646 It's perfectly fine all day there. I have an Iron 883 and its definitely up higher in rpm around that same speed and it does just fine too
I have a2021 Vulcan 900-Custom,love the bike only thing I don’t like is the vibration, the faster you go and the worst it gets that’s why I don’t like go on freeway or go too fast on it.
Is this common issue for the Vulcan 900 Custom, or for Kawasaki in general? I test rode a W800 and hated it solely due the vibration above 50mph. I'm drawn to this Custom, but what's holding me back is too much vibrations. I will say, though, this is the first time I'm hearing/reading about it? Thoughts?
I have a 2010 900 classic LT, love the bike but I can't really get highway speeds from it ( 65 mph and up ). I see a lot of vids like this showing that it can so I'm wondering what mods must be done to get the performance shown here? and is it cheap enough to do instead of buying a bigger bike?
I have a custom also I installed a aftermarket air cleaner exhaust fuel processor and dynod that need a 6th gear is gone the bike is fast strong love the bike
I own a 07 Vulcan 900 custom I would say the same thing need a 6th gear so I put work in to it new exhaust new air cleaner fuel processor dynod that went away now the bike is fast smooth way more power
I had one, same color, first year of the green. It really had good torque, a sixth gear would have made that bike amazing, I rode thousands of miles, great bike!
I did the muffler deleted on the stock exhaust and it doesn't sound the same to this new pipes I installed, you should check one of my old videos for comparation.
@@1ds2ds3ds mine came pretty bone stock. I didn't have any bags or a windshield; I'm adding all that now. I'll be selling mine because it's just too heavy for me. It's a beautiful bike just feels like a fishing sinker when trying to maneuver through traffic. Not a good bike for a beginner but really fun to ride once i get it out on the open road.
it's not necessary unless you want to spend the money for the little power you would get by changing the pipes and the air intake or to get rid of the popping.
I bought them on Amazon, the item is no more on store, probably out of stock. but I found the same pipes on ebay www.ebay.com/itm/155040120655?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=R8f5JzPkR1C&sssrc=2047675&ssuid=Uo3rSAXQRja&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Manufacturers build a lot of bike with 5 and 6 speed transmissions for a reason … ( more fuel consumption ) EPA sets the fuel mileage for all vehicles … that’s why they push EVs …. They want to play their ( Green new deal BS ! ) … I bought a 1987 Honda CRX car when I was in the Army in CA the car got 55 mpg easy … it was 1987 … I couldn’t believe it …. All my motorcycles got less then 40 mpg … that’s ridiculous … it’s all a game … a 2017 Chevy corvette with 750 hp gets 28 mpg … it has an 8 speed transmission …. It’s all about gear ratio … the transmission and differential…. Done correctly vehicles can achieve well past 60 mpg … my 2019 FORD F150 HAS A 400 HP and a 10 speed transmission and it’s geared to pull heavier pay loads … it still gets 18 mpg .
It’s a mid size cruiser.. why in the hell would you have the expectation that this thing would be doing 120+ get a sport bike if those are the speeds your looking for, they are built for that… this is not. 🤦♂️
@@chadroberts6267 not sure about that since my fuel gauge doesn't work, I refuel when the yellow light comes on and from there I could do the math. Fuel tank can hold 5.31 US gallons, if I get an avarage of 43mpg comes out to 223.31 milles per tank, lets rounded at 200 milles per tank just to be safe.
Я думал ,что только на моём вулкане врёт датчик топлива...Ан-нет у чудака на видео он вообще ниже нижнего(может просто не работает?) На моём бенза ещё пол бака,а показывает ноль.😂
If someone would make a high and low range for the belt drive on these vulcans they would make 2 things. A mint off Vulcan owners and most deaths record.
I’ve been thinking of getting one of these as my first bike but I keep hearing that it really needs a 6th gear, and I’ll be doing a lot of freeway riding so I’m a bit concerned
Bike can handle freeway easy, I ride on the freeway everyday, the bike was designed like that and it won't brake on you. it needs a 6th gear but that's only in a luxure way, there's nothing mechanically wrong with having 5 gears.
I have a 2016 Vulcan 900 & it’s stock gearing is too low for comfortable interstate cruising esp at or above65-70mph. I installed a 2 tooth larger baron 34t drive pulley which reduced cruise speed rpm a bit. I installed a tach but unfortunately l it was after I installed the larger drive pulley so don’t have pre larger drive pulley install rpm at speed data. But with the taller gearing the bike still turns dead on 3k rpm at 60mph,3,300-3,400ish rpm at 65mph & 3.700-3,800ish rpm at 70mph which still pretty high cruise rpm though I think the motor can handle it with proper oil & filter change and valve adj maint every 15k miles per fact srv’c manual. You can also install a smaller baron rear pulley to reduce cruise rpm even more. I don’t generally need to cruise long distance above 70-72mph so I’m gonna leave the gearing as is at this time. My other cruiser bike is a 2012 Yami roadstar 1700cc air cooled v-twin cruiser that cruises 70mph at 2,800rpm. My 78 Kawi kz1000 Ltd cruises 60mph at 3,500rpm & my 74 Kawi 500 h1 triple cyl 2stroke blast from the past cruises 60mph at 4,800 rpm.
