In this video I go over the complete detailed installation of the K&n high flow air filter replacement for the Kawasaki z400. Basic installation would be the same for the ninja 400 tear down would be just a little different because of the different plastic.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS MODIFICATION WITHOUT HAVING A WAY TO TUNE THE VEHICLE PLEASE KEEP THAT IN MIND.

Great Job! mine is the 22 z400 and i went from having not a single clue to now knowing how to change this air filter. reminds me of the 2000 accord i have where i have to remove a bunch of stuff to get the to AC filter. Liked and subbed!!!

@@BLRTUNING I have one question , how about the fuel filter from ninja 400 ? Do I need to change the fuel filter in my bike or not ? Why can’t you make a video to talk about how to change the fuel filter then ? Can you please reply ?

@@holybutterfly8495 is your bike having fuel? If the fuel filter is due to be replaced then yes you should replace it. Your owner's manual will tell you when the fuel filter needs replaced. I do not have a video on this...

We are located in Vancouver washington. We now offer ECU flash tuning. This means you can send in your ECU and we can put a d restriction tune on it which means we get rid of all the restrictions that are there from the factory like top speed limit and allowing the throttle plates to open all the way up. Would you recommend a power commander or a tune from a dyno shop? The power commandee V goes for almost 400, for that same price (possibly even a little less)I can take the bike to a dyno and get it custom tuned. Just got a N400 I plan on turning into a track bike and getting ready to buy everything this winter and get to wrenching on it.

I prefer the power Commander 5 myself. This way you are future-proofing the bike. I do offer custom tuning work for these bikes. If you install a power commander 5 other words known as PCV then if you should ever choose to change parts you can change the tune very easily on your own. You can download some free tunes from Dynojet or you can have someone like myself build you a custom tune specifically for your bike and your modifications. I personally always take care of my existing customers. I charge half price to do a tune rebuild should you decide to change parts later on down the road. This can all be done via email. It's much less hassle of taking your bike to a dyno shop where they would do the ECU flash tuning. Also you have to consider all the benefits of having a PCV installed. Think of the PCV as a master hub. You can plug in things like quick shift, wideband 2 (wb2) with autotune, pod 300 digital display, two step launch control (which we do offer).. there is lots of benefits by having a PCV installed not just the tuning work... You don’t need a flash for that or a slip on.

You can get away with doing just a slip-on exhaust. However if you're looking for optimal performance and to keep the AFR correct so the bike can run at its peak power and torque then custom tuning is always recommended if you're changing anything to do with the air coming into the motor or going out of the motor or any engine internals that directly affect AFR. Like cam, or piston or throttle body or injector. These things all should have a tune to go with the parts. That's what we do here at www.blrtuning.co

I can’t put the red fuel clip back on. I took off the red clip on accident now I’m stuck here. Any tips or helpful suggestions?

Yes it might be hard to explain in a comment but I've been in the exact same scenario you're talking about. Basically what you need to do is disconnect the fuel line completely so instead of trying to put that red key back on while the fuel line is on there you need to put that red tab back in without the fuel line trying to be plugged in. You should be able to peel the little teeth apart slide it in you're going to need a small Flathead screwdriver. Then pull it back to its unlock position plug your fuel line back in and now snap the red key back into place all the way.

Basically if you pulled it all the way off you cannot put it back on while trying to plug in the other end of the fuel hose..

Do you need tune? When change from. Stock to iridium spark plug? And mine when i letgo my throttle my bike slowing lot faster than my friend bike both of us still stock tho

No the iridium spark plugs shouldn't change the tuning but you want to make sure they're gapped correctly

Does this increase horsepower on the ninja 400 without a tune?

A high flow filter can add horsepower but anytime you're doing anything that has to deal with the air box or air coming into the motor you should be doing the custom tuning work. The bike will run lean if you don't do tuning work. We are working on getting the Power Commander 5 for the ninja 400 added to our website. We should have it up there very shortly. So please check back with our website in a couple days and you'll be able to purchase the Power Commander 5 with custom tuning work for the ninja 400... I don't know about stretching the factory swing arm. There is aftermarket swingarms that you would have to search for but people have done it. Or there might be a swing arm extension kit to install on the factory swing arm. I haven't done it personally so I wouldn't be able to point you in the right direction as far as where to go but I know people have done it.

It would be very hard to diagnose the problem just by saying it won't turn on. Did you blow the motor up, did the battery come disconnected, did you pop the tire, I don't know what the problem is with your bike without having it in person.

Sorry for the late reply. I'm just now seeing this message. Hopefully you've gotten the problem sorted out by now. It says your comment is 4 months old. If you've installed and air intake, modified air box, or velocity stacks the bike has to be tuned in order for it to run correctly. You cannot do these modifications without doing the tuning work. We do offer custom tuning work for these bikes.
