Documentation of a chain tension adjustment for the Kawasaki z900. The manual says specifically to start this process on the side stand and never mentions raising it on a paddock stand. If you would like to "RTFM" and follow along with the process it starts on page 152:

Tools used:
-Number 12 wrench on the adjuster and locking nuts. Preferably 2 so you can hold the adjuster nut in place as you tighten the locking nut.
-Number 27 socket for the axle nut.
-Adjustable crescent wrench to hold the opposite side of the axle nut in place while torquing the axle nut.
-Breaker Bar
-Torque Wrench to apply 81 ftlbs of torque to the axle nut.
-Pliers for the cotter pin.
-Mallot for the cotter pin.
-Tape measure.
-Rear wheel bike stand.
-Chain sighting tool.
