The Kawasaki Z900 and Z900 70kW, the same bike or more than just a power difference?
A little clarification is needed for this one: The detuned 95bhp version that I refer to as the A2 version is actually called the Z900 70kW. It is eligible for A2 riders, but officially only once you get it detuned to 35kW (47bhp). So if as an A2 rider you're doing everything by the book, you'll be riding a doubly detuned Z900. Realistically most people will rip out the limiters and ride around at 95bhp, which is also the spec in which the 70kW bike was presented to us.

Excellent review of the 70 Kw z900, the best I saw on RU-vid. I definitely agree with what you said, especially in terms of value, here in Germany the bike is about 9.400€ with shipping (a2 and normal version) As someone who bought the a2 model, I can definitely say that this bike, even with the power loss, is still a really good bang for your buck. Super smooth engine, great sound, great torque and power thanks to the almost 1000cc. It also is very beginner friendly wich is unusual for a big i4 bike. Also, if you get your first motorcycle license here in Germany, Kawasaki gives you 1€ off of your first bike you buy (caped at 800€) so you really are paying 8600€ before negotiating (I got mine for 8k). All things considered, 8k for 95 hp 948cc inline 4? Hell yeah!

Is there a way to get it to the full 125hp after you’ve got your full license?
@deteiser
@deteiser 2 года назад
@@brianq7365 No. You can get a bit more with cat-delete and a flash. I would say like +10/15hp, but in all honesty there is enough power there. I got a derestricted A2 second hand (not enough research on my part) and the reason i bought it without really finding out all the facts was - i took it for a spin and loved it. It is not a slow bike, like even with 95hp on paper it is quicker then full-power z800 with 113 hp. The thing is - those max HP lives in red line zone and you don't visit that place very often.

Excellent video! You brought up some good points about the bike. I’m getting mine as the A2 version around next week so it was good to hear what you think of it. Hard to find any good reviews.

CSBTV Official Thanks! It’s a great bike and offers fantastic value for money. Will you be running it in official 47bhp A2 spec or uncorked 95bhp? I’d be interested to hear how the fully restricted one rides.

Bikes by Daniel I think I’m going to start with the fully restricted bike first. It’s a pretty big jump from a 125cc to a 948cc so I’d probably end up killing my self if I used it with it’s full power.

Good call! There'll be a Ninja 400 video coming up in a few weeks which is an interesting alternative for a full size but destricted A2 bike.

How to recognize the difference between z900 and z900e ? From outside look !
@JONNIJONNIJONNI
@JONNIJONNIJONNI 6 лет назад
You mentioned the exhaust was slightly smaller, so for the same price the SOUND and the PERFORMANCE is less potent? Really keen on getting the Z900E (A2 restricted), but its still 10k and u get less. Hard to find an inline four cylinder for A2 that they dont 'rob' you.

Johnny from Earth the smaller exhaust didn’t noticeably affect sound, one you rip the dB killer out of the exhaust you definitely wouldn’t notice. The z900 is a great bike but for an A2 rider I think a less restricted bike like the z650 is a better deal

if i buy an full system exhaust for the z900 i can fit on the z900(70kw) with no problem ?
@bikesbydaniel8953
@bikesbydaniel8953 5 лет назад
Physically it will probably fit, but because of the restricted ECU it will likely run significantly worse. Best to stick with a slipon or get the full power Z900.
@dupladupla389

The slip on/muffler will fit but the down pipes (headers) are smaller on the A2 version and therefore won't fit. Most brands (ie.Delkevic) will mention this

How much of a power difference is there? 0-100 comparison How much more powerful does the full power z900 feel than the 70kw?
@bikesbydaniel8953
@bikesbydaniel8953 6 лет назад
Didn't do a 0-100 test, but assuming kph (not mph) the difference will more likely be down to the skill of the rider than the bike. The power difference is noticeable when you're doing over 100kph and in the higher end of rev range, but for normal everyday driving there's not much difference. The problem is that if you have an A2 license you aren't allowed to drive it at 70kW; it's actually capped at 35kW. We weren't given a 35kW example to drive, but half the power doesn't sound like a great proposition to me.
