Exactly. Passed my test in '82 and pretty much been riding ever since. I don't need to get my knee down, am not into 0-60 times, but I do like a good long swooping scenic ride and the occasional tour - the highlight of mine being the Alps. Biking is all about what you want it to be, and not what others think it should be. It's refreshing for the soul. You either get it or you don't. I get it. I love it. I'm never giving up (until I physically can't get on a bike). Until then I'll carry on, enjoying the camaraderie and banter that you get even from other bikers you've just met! Great vid TMF and great comment bikesforme.

I thought the exact same as you when I first got my Zed, i.e that the suspension felt a bit harsh on anything other than perfectly smooth tarmac, which counts for about 99% of all roads around where I am. The roads here are just dreadful. I noticed that the suspension settings were dialed right back from the factory, so figured that was the cause. However, as soon as I put some weight over the back wheel, it doesn't take much, the bike transformed into a completely different animal, smoothed it right out. So my conclusion is that I need to eat more chips! I do think that the suspension needs tweaked a little, just to get it more off the end of travel, although it didn't take me long to get used to it as is. I found that just relaxing with a soft grip on the bars makes all the difference on the really rough stuff, putting any weight on my wrists, i.e all over the front, really highlights the bumps. Dan's new Interceptor looks great, if I had room for one, I would definitely be wanting one 👍

Try Koti Auto Talli. Smaller than I thought, but bike focussed, clothing, workshop and great toasties. Very friendly and a great ride.

A couple of other places I would suggest are the Flag and Whistle Cafe in Toddington, Glos. - on the site of Toddington station of the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Steam Railway and also on the B4632 - one of my favourite roads, and the Touchdown Cafe at Wellesborne, not too far from Stratford-u-Avon, and again accessed via some great roads!

Another great video. Love the Z900rs - a beaut of a bike. You should try Moto Corsa in Gillingham as a scran destination. Great, very well-priced food and a bike 'shop' too. I bumped into Geoff there a couple of months ago so he knows about it. 👍🏼

I did hear that the cafe has reopened, but the dealership has moved to smaller premises at their servicing site in Ashmore. That’s not far from Compton Abbas airfield, just south of Shaftesbury.

Another great video Andy. I really enjoy the Biker Scran videos, all very relaxed and natural. The AV8 cafe at Kemble, (now Cotswold Airfield) is a great place to visit and yourself and Carol could always fly in as many people do. The cafe is next the control tower and has a Hawker Hunter parked outside and a Boeing 747 which on certain days you can look around (you need to book) The food is OK but a bit expensive. I very nearly had a flight in a Tiger Moth there but it was 32°C and I could not face sitting in a beautiful old string bag in motorcycle gear. I should have done it if course😏

I love my z900rs from 2019. It is such a fun bike. Put an Akropovic header on it and that's all it needs in my opinion. My preferred bike for around town.

I choose my z900rs café over the speed twin because of the café style And the the 4cyl note and I love it but I still think about the speed twin and maybe in the future I’ll get one for my second bike. I could have bought the truxton but price was too high… Nice video👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

Well...this is the second bike you've influenced me purchasing...got the triumph trident 660 first after watching you're review of it and now here I am with a z900rs (2 weeks with it and loving every minute so far!). Very much enjoy the channel and the content. How fortuitous that you've come back to the z900rs just when I signed on the dotted line for mine; giving me real justification for switching. The trident was an amazing bike, just a little too small for me in the end but the z900rs is perfect! Was a case of heart vs head and now I've gone with the heart! As far as recommendations... Millie's cafe farm shop (LE12 8HX)...bit far to go but great coffee, views, cake......more cake, people, and if facilities are your thing then this place is 5*!!! Thanks again for the good content! Jealous of your ability to go for rides with more than 1 other person. Looks like a lot of fun! A happy subscriber to your channel!

i was beginning to miss biker scran good thing its out. good stuff :). Geoff is kinda right with the whole fun with supersports vs nakeds in the fun department. im having more fun on my new Honda CT 125 bike I bought then the speed twin 1200 I have. Then again I only just got the CT 125

As I said on your last video the low seat that you look like you are running is MUCH harder and less comfortable than the regular seat....I am the same height as you and honestly you DON'T need the low seat the regular seat is fine for someone of 5 7 or 5 8 and much preferable comfort wise.

The intake growl above 6-7k is just magic. Mine in now fully broken in and absolutely love to give it the beans. It is a lovely bike to ride everyday, it just does everything well. I do wish the suspension was a little more plush at times and the seat didn’t make my nether regions go numb but I still ride this thing 200-300 miles on cruises

Great video Andy. Absolutely love my z900rs. It swallowed up a 550mile trip on Saturday with ease. I do find, as a naked bike, long runs on a motorway are not its best place to shine as the wind does catch me in the shoulders - even with a pyramid screen. Everything else is a joy and it is very nimble off the beaten track. The exhaust sound they tuned is brilliant and has power all thru the powerband. For me it is a bike that gets me out more often than say a larger bike.

Good video. Very enjoyable. A couple of recommendations for you.... Loomies Moto Cafe at West Meon in Hampshire. Some great roads nearby too. Possibly a bit far for you on the bike.... Cafe at Zero 5 which is near the Tower at Solent Airport, Lee on Solent. And if you're lucky the Spitfire will be flying.

Having completed 4000 kilometres on stock Rs standard height seat,I can confirm this is hard after an hour or so but not a deal breaker.Bike is great fun.Your mates Enfield is lovely in that colour scheme 👍

I think THE best part of the Scran would be the company kept which you'd have to give this a 10. You're a good bunch. You know the bike that's been getting my focus lately has been a Kawasaki W800. I must be getting the retro/Steve McQueen craze. Dan's Enfield is a gorgeous bike, and the piping on the seat looked good on the Tube.

I had a W800 and it really looked like a1969 Bonnie in cherry red and cream. But it was a bit lacking in both power and braking, but probably no more so than other retro 800s with one front disc.

Ive had a W800 and regret letting it go . they hold their price really well. Have a test ride on one they are a great bike. Im sure your will want one after the test ride.

@@terrydenton3474 I think you are right, a test ride would seal the deal for me. I had a conversation with my Kawasaki dealer yesterday and of course the W800 came up. He wasn’t sure when, or if, they would be getting one in. I have a couple bikes that I’d need to sell to make room for a new bike so next Spring will probably be the time to make the move for me.

Great vid as usual, chaps. Love my Z900RS - found the stock OEM Dunlops very unforgiving. Put road 5s on, and the ride smoothed out considerably. Some change the rear shock, but so far (4 years), I'm loving it. Cheers.

I rode a Z900RS at a Kawi demo event last year only because the Ninja 1000 wasn’t available on the time slot it took. I’m so glad I did that. It’s an amazingly fun and comfortable bike and I nearly walked back in to the dealership to order one. I still haven’t but that bike is always in the back of my mind. Maybe someday.

Well I'd never sell my speedmaster for one and my tiger Rally 900 is my main means of transportation (until it breaks or is replaced in a distant future), but If I had the space and money for a 3rd bike this would be the one. Very different from the twin and triple I have and also representative of a completely different "retro" era than my speedy. Looks and sounds amazing! Maybe the SE version with the specced up Ohlins would be a bit more plush? Anyways, that ride looked a lot of fun. Cheers!

Great video. I picked up the blue Z900RS in Aust about the time you released this vid. (Late-comer sorry) Beautiful bike. Love every ride. But 3 urks . . . The suspension, the 'European standards' engine warm-up and the bubble-head over 110km/h (say 60 mph). Suspension - as you suggested - is sorted professionally but is right at the limit to make her comfortable; and I'm only 80kg. Alas she has lost her classic look and gone more industrial with a fairing and wind defuser but now rides comfortably at 170km/h; to truly enjoy her top end! Just need to get the engine mapped now - not for the extra power (she doesn't need it) - just to sort the annoying warm-up. 🙃

I've been riding my uncles 1982 Suzuki GS650GT (the first bike I've ridden and the bike I've been riding the most), and I've got to say the Kawasaki z900rs seems to be the modern bike that reminds me the most of that bike. In the end I went for the new Suzuki GSX-S1000 because I couldn't turn down all those horsepowers.. But no doubt the z900rs is a cracking bike and a true looker!

I nearly got my first farm in the Cotswold's, Ampney St Mary, stunning area. Difficult to compare the Z900 to the ST12, like you say, 2 and 4 pot's are very different riding and feeling, characteristics. I have had loads of 4 pot bikes, my first big twin is now the ST12 and I'm loving the different riding style..... Loved the Norton commando. Take care, rubber side down

Great vid, always enjoy these. My dad used to have a Norton Commando a very very long time ago. He loved it but often use to reminisce about bits dropped off, oil leaks & emergency roadside fixes.

5:40 Here in the US seeing riders with white helmets is rare because only the police wear a white helmet. Def makes sense though that they are more visible.

The one thing that turns my stomach on the Z900 is the exposed radiator cap! Looks so unfinished, cheap. Every time I see it I see nothing but that!

The seat feels hard because your bike has the short seat on it. I have the same on my Z900rs. It's about 30mm lower than the stock seat.

Great content as usual. This is a favourite stop of mine out on the blade. From there caffeine and machine is around a 15 min ride that’s my regular route then back home to Rugby 👍

Yea whenever I see reviewers talking to the companies marketing men (you see it on bennetts bike social a lot), why don't they ask, sorry, I mean shout, WHY IS A COMFY SEAT AN OPTION????? haha.

Some seats seem really hard when new and then break in. My Suzuki was hard as a rock and now is quite comfy.

It may be my age 👴🏻 but my eyes were immediately drawn to Dan’s new Royal Enfield, a visual treat. Loved the seat ! It’s easy to go down a rabbit hole with the specs. and figures but as demonstrated, the real world road performance was really good………and a bargain ! A beautiful part of the country too, enjoyed !

Enjoyed the Biker Scran. Riding with your friends was a hoot.! If we only had a warehouse, endless funds, and a 12 day week to enjoy our toys. 3 extra days to appreciate a good wife also. At 69 I'm trying to enjoy life fully before I need training wheels lol. 👍👍🏍🏍🏍🙋‍♂️

The Kawi looks and sounds terrific, but from your helmet cam view I just can't tear my eyes away from that bog ugly radiator cap! 😨Must be something can be done about that. Even a quick spray of black, perhaps? Aftermarket - HELP! Love these scran videos, by the way. 👍

MF: The standard seat sold on the Z900RS in the USA is taller and not scooped like the UK seat. The taller seat and its extra padding transforms the ride, making it plush over bumps, and all-day comfortable. It’s the only bike in my garage that I can ride all day in comfort.

Dans Enfield Seat looks Good to Me .. Z900 sounds Fantastic I have a Suggestion for a Scram It not an actual Biker Cafe . Quainton Steam Train Centre (Not far from "On Yer Bike" ) Got a nice Cafe and some Steam Trains to Look at .they just had a Brilliant Classic Car & Bike Show Bank Holiday Monday....check for Opening Times Today (wednesday) Me and my Mate are Heading to Gt Missenden & Surrounding Chiltern Hills as it looks a Nice Area on your. U tube Vids

REME museum at the former RAF Lyneham. Cafe frequented by bikers, nice food and a REME museum with tanks etc to see while there. Easy to find, just turn in the main gate and bear left. Between Swindon and Calne. Derek

Yeah, the consensus among owners is the seat is only good for about an hour. I had mine customized with "comfort foam" and it's good for about two hours now.

Suggestion for a future scran: Sywell Aerodrome Pilot’s Mess (with a view of the airfield). Open to everyone not just pilots! Or the hotel restaurant for something more posh. I’m sure you must have flown there Andy. For everyone else the 1930’s buildings and Art Deco style are great, plus you will probably see the Spitfire and other old warbirds that fly from there.

The Speed Twin vs the Z900S is something on my mind too. Was looking for a Z900RS but the dealer was uncooperative, then the Triumph shop plonked me on a Speed Twin and I loved it so bought one. It could pull you arms off at low revs if you wanted that. Particularly good when doing those transit miles between good places. Relaxed burbly progress as opposed to buzziness. Compromises.

I plan to visit this place in my way back from Goodwood Revival so this came at the right time for me. Thumbs up for a visit to Cotswold Airport Cafe. Flown in there earlier this year. Very nice place. Looking very professional with the Mic Andy. Need the TMF logo on it! 👍

Just watched this video for your comments on the Z900rs. I'm tempted to indulge myself and get one. I use a Beeline satnav and really like it. It's discreet and simple though does struggle navigating large roundabouts and complex junctions. You get ysed to it though. I've just returned from touring in Normandy and Brittany on my RE GT650 and the Beeline was excellent locating holiday accommodation hidden in deepest, darkest countryside. I will get to Gilks one day too!

I'm 32 and my helmet is also primarily white (with some red and black decals). Well the front of the helmet is completely white. Any way, what I will say is that white helmets are not for old farts. Also, what is the difference between chips and French fries? I was always under the impression that: chips = UK English and French fries = US English?

I think it's more nuanced than that - French Fries tend to be thinner cut, British Chips a bit more chunky...

Hyside motorcycle in Maldon Essex which is a Ducati dealer with an excellent cafe. The food is delicious. Probably a summer destination. There is a RU-vidr who works there. ProjectMoto makes a lot of new Ducati video's.

Woodstock is not in the Cotswolds, you need to go West of Chipping Norton. Edgehill is very famous for a battle back in 1642 and the first battle of the English civil wars.

Went to Gilks yesterday following your route, but took a different route back to Kidlington, the other side of Woodstock. Good food and a decent cup of STRONG coffee. Thanks for sharing all you do for bikers!

Benson waterside cafe although not really a biker cafe is lovely place or H cafe berinsfield which is a busy biker cafe especially on a Saturday morning both local haunts for me. I recently tried AV8 cafe at Kemble Airfield which was great couple of hours watching the planes come and go while having a drink and rest.
