I think the item description I was reading from was actually for the "Special Al" (or, Aluminum) listing of the pen, but mine seems aluminum too, and I'm not really sure what's different between the two listings, or if it might actually be the same pen.
The pen seems well-built and feels good in the hand, although even with that in mind, it's personally a bit hard for me to justify the $50 price point. Maybe it's for dip-pen and calligraphy enthusiasts, it definitely does seem like a nice holder which can be used with a wide variety of nibs. The lid it comes with doesn't seem to stay on very well, or at all, I'm not sure how it could possibly be put in a pocket.
The steel brush by speedball was a refreshing novelty. I like how weird it looks, and how satisfying it is to lay down that much ink. I personally am no calligraphic sign-maker, so that part of it is lost on me, but I still had fun with it.
