ako po ay taga-iloilo at mainit talaga ang Iloilo during summer because po of the river that causes high humidity. Just like po nang Roxas city and Dagupan city na may river po. Sa heat index report ng pag-asa last summer, most of the time po kasama po itong tatlo. But on the other hand, pag gabi po, di rin po ganoon kainit because of the river acting like temperature regulator.

Maliit nga ang land area ng Iloilo City (78 sq km) kaysa Bacolod (163 sq km). Pero mas malawak ang built-up o urbanized area ng Iloilo City, halos 90% na ng total area nito. Ang Bacolod naman ay 20% lang ng total area nila ang built-up. Makikita natin yan sa Google Earth

Why is it you guys make it a problem anyway? Wherever you go it is so hot! You guys should live in Greenland, Iceland, Antartica, North Pole, Alaska or Scandinavian countries. I live here in Southern CA and on summertime it is so hot. Try to go to Vegas, NY & Florida on summertime it is extremely hot too. I went to Italy, Greece & Turkey in the month of October previous year and it is extremely hot also.

Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas said Thursday he has ordered native trees from Mindanao and he was seeking donations of native tree seedlings. “I have been ordering native trees up to Mindanao. Some that arrived are only six inches tall, while some are higher. We need a lot, and donations of native tree seedlings are most welcome,” he said. The city government has in its nursery some 12,000 seedlings of various species of native trees, and has already planted around 35,000 in open spaces under the Urban Tree Planting Program. “The area with the hottest heat index is the Diversion Road according to the gauges, which were installed for us by Manila Observatory in partnership with Shell. Let's make Iloilo City greener with more native trees," the mayor added. Executive Assistant for Environment Armando Dayrit, in an interview, said native trees attract biodiversity and they make the temperature cooler. Preparations for this year are ongoing, starting at the Diversion Road, where “Dita” species will replace Royal Palm trees previously planted in the area. Dayrit said he is also targeting planting trees on small corner roads. They have already planted areas from Barangays Sooc to Calahunan in Mandurriao district, and also in vacant areas in Molo. “We need to have at least 30 percent canopy in Iloilo City. Right now, we are at around 10 percent,” he said. In a previous interview, General Services Office head engineer Neil Ravena said the tree-growing activities will be formalized this June. They target to plant native and fruit-bearing trees in private subdivisions, floodways, roadsides, Esplanade, and beach forests in Barangay Boulevard. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources already donated 3,000 tree seedlings of various species to the city. (PNA)
@@Crayon80 CITY HALL UPDATES: The Iloilo City Government, through the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), the General Services Office (GSO), and other concerned officers and volunteers, joined the Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience Campaign in celebration of World Environment Day on June 5. A total of 218 Dita tree seedlings were planted along Diversion Road in order to promote tree planting as a habit and way of protecting the city's green spaces and environment.
