Hey Cliff! That looked so easy that I'd be tempted to try it in my PaddleSki437 with the motor tipped up. (I might even cheat a bit and drop the motor for some of the deep straight stretches, Wink, Wink! Thanks for sharing!

Hi 👋 there, Eric! I was thinking the same thing when I did that trip. You definitely could use the PaddleSki, there was just one rapid with a dog right leg turn that was a little hairy. Otherwise, you would get pinned up against a tree. That’s the only place that I saw that would possibly cause some problems, but I think you would be OK. Thanks for watching and commenting and have a great weekend!

Hi Cliff.....My wife and I have paddled for years....when we lived in NE Pennsylvania we paddled the Lehigh.....which can be pretty intense even after taking private whitewater lessons...which lead us to really loving to paddle crystal clear flatwater :) We sold our Liquid Logic Salad kayaks when we moved to Wisconsin fourteen years ago. We still usually paddled when we traveled to destination bike trails here in the upper Midwest. Sadly my wife passed away in January and I am embracing physical activity to work through grief. I have added a carbon fiber fat bike, and a 2 wheel ebike to my recumbent Catrike 559. I am fortunate that I live right on a bike trail. Now, I have been looking to get back into kayaking without needing a separate kayak trailer because my F150 has a cap and not conducive to transporting a traditional kayak. I have found your videos very helpful because we had been looking at the great products from Sea Eagle the last two years and your videos really highlight the possibilities they represent plus they are inflatable. IF you are ever in Southeast Wisconsin, let me know and we can go for a paddle or a pedal....Thanks for the videos
@KayakCliff
@KayakCliff Год назад
Again, I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of your wife. My sincere condolences to you and your family. I have found that with the sea eagle product line, there is a kayak for just about anything that you would ever want to do on the water. All types of water & all types of craft. The beauty with them all is they deflate and store, easily and transport easily. A big win-win :-)

Thanks Cliff. Enjoyed every minute of this video, you really do a good job on these. Would have liked to hear just some brief comments from your fellow paddlers regarding their thoughts on the particular kayaks they were in. I recently purchased the Fast Track and am looking forward to its first maiden voyage.
@KayakCliff
@KayakCliff Год назад
Thanks Dwain! Congratulations on your new FastTrack! Great suggestion, I will try to incorporate my friends feedback when paddling other boats on my adventures. They really appreciated how well the boats did in terms of the load that they carried and their stability. The only drawback, is when you are paddling down, rapids where it is extremely shallow, you need to make sure that you remove the skeg. If you want really good paddling efficiency in the deeper waters, you need to reinstall the skeg. There seems to be a lot of installing, removing, reinstalling. That being said, for THIS trip, I believe the explorer edges out the fast track, as it does paddle better without a skeg. That inflatable keel in the front of the fast track tends to want to turn the boat backwards if you are not 100% on top of your paddling. Doug, who was paddling the fast track, absolutely loved the boat when the skeg was in place. Hope this helps, have a great weekend!

I've been out kayaking, but haven't been able to kayak camp due to some career transitioning issues (intensive further education). I'd love to know how you distributed the weight of your gear. I'm in AZ, so I can typically kayak all year round. Woohoo! Happy to hear the RL performed well. More videos like this, please!

It really depends on how much you weigh and how much gear you want to take. In this video, I only did a one night trip. For me, it would be difficult to do a five day trip, but if I packed extremely light, I think it is doable. For a longer trip I would prefer the explorer.

Hi Jose! In my opinion, October is the best month for kayak camping. Spring can also be good. If going in the Fall, make sure the water levels and flow rates are good though. If the Summer was a hard drought and they are not letting any water out of PK damn, then the trip would not be worth it. I plan on doing a separate 20 miles this October and filming it too! Stay safe out there!

@KayakCliff
@KayakCliff Год назад
On this trip I used Rochelle’s to pick up my vehicle at the beginning and take it down to the end. They charged $50 for this. A great deal! Most rivers that have lots of paddlers have companies that offer this service. If not, you need to have two vehicles, one at the beginning, and one at the end, and do it yourself. Hope this helps, safe, adventuring out there!

I will be moving back to TX from SW FL. Currently I only own 2 sea kayaks...17.5'. Can I use those in the Brazos? I'm figuring I need to buy a 14' for rivers....
@KayakCliff
@KayakCliff Год назад
Hi 👋 Lisa - You could paddle your kayaks on the Brazos. Are they easily maneuverable with good rocker? How about their construction? I don’t think I would wanna take anything carbon, fiber, or fiberglass, because you will scrape the bottom a bit. I think, ideally, for multi-day trips, a 14 or 15 footer would be the best option. I hope this helps! Welcome to Texas!!!

Hi 👋 Dariush - Thanks for watching and reaching out! If you are a new paddler that is 250lbs. or under, you will DEFINITELY get more comfortable with the inherent “tippiness” that you feel initially when first paddling the RazorLite. Hey there, my Seaeagle 300x has standing water in the floor. I boat white water with the drains open. Have you ever used the drain plugs? I haven't heard back from the company so I'm just asking around if this is normal.
@KayakCliff
@KayakCliff Год назад
Hi deleted! Thanks for watching and asking! When paddling white water with all of the drain plugs open, 12 in the 300 X I believe. You will always have some standing water. Now, I have found that if you do not remove the caps or tuck the caps underneath the floorboard, they will close on their own and inhibit the draining of water.
