Kayak Camping South Branch Potomic River

Kayak camping from Brighton Boat Ramp in Moorefield WV to Romney WV. The South Branch Potomic river is a bit of a hidden gem with some great kayak camping. Water levels were on the lower side at 1.74’ making for a boney ride at times but the journey was worth it. In this video Brian padddles his Nova Craft Prospector 16 Canoe for the first time. Joining us on this journey was my cousins Dana, Briel and Amanda. We paddled about 5.5 miles before finding a great campsite. Along the way we had some laughs, great views, rapids, sites and even a little scare.

That was nice man. I kayak this section of the Potomac river last year with my family & friends. I live not to far from that area. It's always nice to see you & your brother kayaking together man. My lil brother Tim decided to go kayaking with me when he moved back home last year at Labor day weekend. It's so much fun kayaking with him & he love kayaking & kayak camping as well. I would like to do this Section or the Potomac river from Moorefield WV to Romney WV again with then a month from now. Good video buddy can't wait to see part #2.

Thanks buddy! It’s a good river and sections I didn’t know existed until I started researching a river for the family to paddle that was close to a midpoint for us all.

Thanks. Yes we had no issues with that. We left 2 cars there for 2 nights. I know there is a gate there but we also didn’t notice any signs saying overnight parking was prohibited.
