Thanks lol! It was so funny I set the camera up to do an epic swing out into the Suwannee and snap the rope breaks! Lol! It was a great trip indeed. Thanks for watching and subscribing all the way from Oregon!
Thanks! Yes they are indeed. I've managed to do the whole river including the Sante Fe now and each memory is embed in my mind. Every trip had a great moment and a challenging moment as well. My Dad has gotten a little to frail to do another long trip but I'm wanting to get him back on a small section of the Suwannee one more time.
I've always wanted to kayak the Suwanee since moving to Florida. I've been cave diving the caves along the river for years (especially Little River and Peacock). I just got my first kayak a few months ago. Guess I'm going to have to try it now.
You'll love it! Do you have enough room for dive gear on your kayak? You could float down and go spring to spring, that would be cool. I love those springs, they are really beautiful.
@@PADDLECAMPFISH There is enough to fit a few cylinders. Probably wouldn't have room for any fishing gear though. Have you ever used a pull behind float to haul excess gear?
Wow, great video! Can't believe I haven't seen it before? We bought a home a little less than a mile as the crow flies from the Suwannee in Old Town Florida. We're about 10 minutes from Fanning Springs. This river is so beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
That's awesome! I've always wanted to buy some property on or near the Suwanee but that dream is gone with the rising price of property these days. I love it there and can't wait to get back on the river.
I learned a valuable lesson all rope swings aren't created equal lol! Yes you've got to do the Suwanee, the dark tanic water and all the springs along the way make it awesome!
Thanks! Yeah that was crazy I was going to swing out for this epic swing and landed right on my back lol. Hey I appreciate it, and thanks for watching!
Chad is like my brother when we go Camping my Brother has to make a big Fire too . Ha I watching him he is steadily stoking the fire . With all that boat traffic it would have been best that you two had Flags on your Kayak . That Rope could have gone wrong in so many ways glad the only thing hurt is your pride . Enjoyed the video .
Yes I definitely need to get a flag before my next trip. The younger boaters don't give a hoot about kayaks, the older boaters were pretty respectful and slowed down for us. Chad certainly loves his fires! So much for stealth camping with Chad lol. That was my first rope swing that ever broke on me, I will definitely be checking the rope from now on. Thanks for watching CS!
Looks like a great trip. That would be tough paddling with that wend in your face. You are like me can't pass up a rope swing lol that looked like it hurt!
Yes Sir it was! We're headed back this week I'm going to do a few days with my brother and dad I haven't seen them in a while so it ought to be a great reunion.
Yes indeed it's one of my favorite rivers! Hey I see you have a channel, I subbed to show support, and will check out your videos this week. Thanks again!
Hello my name is Tom, just curious did you ever consider when you bought your Zulu getting the I guide motorguide option. I'm thinking of getting a Zulu but considering the I guide. I enjoyed your Suwannee river video. I've fished the Suwannee a few times beautiful river.
Thanks, no when I bought mine there was no trolling motor options and I always used the pedal drive. I thought about adding one but couldn't justify the price to set it all up.
I live in Branford, great place! If you haven't you paddle the Sante Fe from High Springs to wherever. (if in the Summer make it a weekday). The Waccissa river in Jefferson County near Tallahassee is a cool one too.
@@PADDLECAMPFISH you should check out the Wacissa. Years ago when my in-laws would camp at a place called Goose Pasture, I saw an old timer camping there who had two coolers full with 2 bass in each...12 and 13 pounders. He said his secret for big bass was use a big worm lol. Probably night fishing too. Full of gators though.
Would love to see a video of how you packed for a 5 day trip. I’ve only done overnight trips so far, and am interested to know what you pack for food/drinks.
I did a 5 day solo trip on the Choctawhatchee River heres a link to the packing list video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eRZPx76xRSE.html I think I will do an updated video soon. Each year my gear evoles and replaces old gear, my wife hates it 😆
For food and drinks on a 5 day trip ill start by writing out a meal plan for each day and then add high calorie snacks in during my paddle. I try to keep it simple and light but I also like to take something rewarding to have one night. Ill usually pack it all in a separate dry bag and if I bring something that needs ice I'll eat or drink those the first day. For water I bring 3 or more large bottled waters and then filter water into those bottles from the river when I run out. Try witing out your meal plan and then just tweaking it as you go and make it enjoyable, I found taking all back packing meals is no fun lol. Its nice if the river your paddling has resupply points plan those in your trip but make sure the place is open, I've ran across that before.
Really thinking about getting a Kaku but I can’t decide between the voodoo and Zulu. I mostly paddle lakes but thinking about doing some easy rivers. I like the option of using the pedal drive because I fish but I’ll probably be mostly paddling since that’s all my wife has.Which of the two do you think paddles best? Your other video showing the hatches makes me a little weary of the voodoo, they just don’t seem as nice.
Definitely the Zulu if its in your budget. I started with the Kahuna, then got the Voodoo and now the Zulu. I really like the pedal drive for fishing. The Zulu seems to be better built as well.
IHey. Rod! I'm m doing well. I just did an adventure and got the video done but when I exported it, it has these weird glitches in it. I'll have to figure out what's going on before I load it to RU-vid. It all started after I updated my phone and video editor. It seems 2020 put me behind at everything especially my RU-vid channel but I'm coming back lol. Great to hear from ya!
We just did the basics this trip. In the mornings we had Oatmeal mixed with peanut butter and granola, we had snack and protein bars during the paddle and tortilla rice and tuna during the evenings. We packed a 24 pack of water and filtered the rest when we ran out.
@@PADDLECAMPFISH between you and Trip Smith, I pretty much want to paddle rivers and hammock camp lol would a hobie kayak pedal drive system be okay? Or do you find depth changes and logs and things would damage on Suwannee?
@@mr.smithglendale496 Awesome thats all I like to do these days as well. The section we just did was perfect for a pedal drive. It was pretty deep and I never hit anything with it. Now the first section of the river where there are shoals might be challenging lol. Does the pedal drive in a hobie come up and down?
Yeah I agree. At the moment of aggravation it felt like a good idea but not knowing who or why these guys were lighting us up kept us from retaliating. Good thing it could have turned into a deliverance scene where the locals hunt us down and make us squeal like a pig.
Would be cool if there was a way to know how many bull sharks you passed on the way. Always been curious how often and how plentiful they actually travel way up these coastal rivers.
@@PADDLECAMPFISH I see where a lot of people fine teeth but that’s about it. Surprisingly. Pretty common for bulls to make it way further than one would think.
