i use a gas 2hp outboard instead.. 5-10x the range for low weight allowance.. 2 gal of gas is 16 lbs the outboard is 15# .. 25 -30 miles round trip ... vs a 500.00 lithium battery .. seems more economic too

“Powerful” hack. Actually, very interesting. It could be used when the power goes off during a storm to keep cell phones charged among other things. It won’t take the place of a large generator but it could come in handy inside. Of course the solar panels might not be able to charge it back up during a prolonged storm. It’s primary benefit may be as you describe it
@KayakhacksFishing
@KayakhacksFishing 3 года назад
So true. It only has 720wh of power. That will run a fridge for an hour or so. But, given low consumption of LED lights, it would keep a few lights on in the house during an outage (better than a candle!) as well as recharge devices.

My wife and I'd take a coffee maker with us on the kayak 😋. Your trolling motor looks a lot like my Newport Vessels one. What brand/model is it?
@KayakhacksFishing

Yes, it is the Newport. I am currently testing their 3 blade prop vs the two blade the motor came with.

Hi question have you thought about a dc to dc charger? You should lose less power from converting dc to ac to ac again, I’m just asking my river pro will arrive next Friday. Sorry had to edit check out Harrington media he’s made a few videos and found a couple of different adapter’s I think you will like 👍

Can you use a 110V to 12V inverter so that you can use the ecoflow to power the trolling motor?

I would not recommend that since the Ecoflow is not waterproof. But, I think that would work

That thing is the size of a battery... why not just take an extra battery? I know it has a lot of cool stuff on it. Can it be hooked to the troll motor instead of just charging the battery? I've been meaning to ask you what brand is your PWM... mine stopped working after the ³rd use and I was just using it on LED lights.
@KayakhacksFishing
@KayakhacksFishing 3 года назад
My PWM is a generic one I got on Amazon. The issue with another battery is the ability of the EcoFlow to charge other devices and run other things. True, another lithium battery would be about the same price. The value of this is going to be when I hook it up to the solar panel. That test coming up.

My only question would be, if they wouldn't have sent it to you, is it something that you would have purchased? These days I'm very cautious to buy fish bait, not fisherman bait. Rip'n Lips from Amarillo Texas!

Can you run your trolling motor directly from the eco flow battery pack, essentially eliminating the lead acid battery?
@KayakhacksFishing
@KayakhacksFishing 2 года назад
It should be possible with this type of connection - amzn.to/377rnoD The real issue is the generator is not fully waterproof. I think it would be better to protect it inside the hull.
@dangerousdave668
@dangerousdave668 2 года назад
Yes you can and as long as it stored in a splash proof box along with a solar panel there is no need for a 12 volt lead acid. Just get a 12 volt adapter and a fuse system.

Converting from the internal battery to AC power and then regulating it back down with the charger is terribly inefficient. If the charger is putting 4 amps in to the battery that's only 48 watts at 12 volts. The battery bank is using over 70 watts to accomplish that. Is there a way to do DC to DC charging with that unit?
@KayakhacksFishing
@KayakhacksFishing 3 года назад
There is a DC output for a car attachment. It is actually 10A and I would love to use it instead. Any ideas on how to make that happen?
@U812GREEN
@U812GREEN 3 года назад
@@KayakhacksFishing the 10amp 12vdc output would be limited to the capacity of the chargers internal battery and only enough power of accessories. But if your solar panel had its own charge controller it may give a better option for battery charging and to keep your power box charged as well for use at the campsite to keep your chargeable hand held devices topped off.

@fixerofthings 3 года назад
@@KayakhacksFishing according to the EcoFlow FAQ the DC cigarette lighter socket is 13.6 volts, much like the outlet in a car. Also much like a car, this is a safe voltage to charge a lead acid battery. I'd rig up a couple of clamps to a cigarette lighter adapter and connect it directly to the trolling motor battery. It won't give you a 100% charge but should accomplish the goal of replenishing the battery enough to get home. When you get home you can give the battery a complete charge with a multi-stage charger.
@KayakhacksFishing
@KayakhacksFishing 3 года назад
@@fixerofthings That is what I was thinking about doing. Getting the adapter and cutting off the end to attach clamps.
