Excellent video and what a beaut of a snapper on the way back. I'm looking to do a trip down Coromandel way as soon as we are allowed out again - with a view to having some fun while catching some decent fish.
Thank you Gavin. Coromandel is such a great place to visit for kayak fishing and if you are coming down then please call by our kayak fishing store based in Coromandel Town. I am usually around and are only to happy to offer any advice on the area, just search Coromandel Kayak Fishing or www.kayakadventures.co.nz/
@@NZkayakfishing Will do that for sure Rob. Just one question - are there sufficient places to camp and launch at without having a 4x4? I was watching some footage on Stony Bay that prompted my question.
@@gavinleroux7059 Yes Stony Bay has access at the north end of the camp and i would suggest using a kayak trolley to move from camp to the launch site which is very close cheers
Thanks Vaughn yes I love the natural environment and being a hunter gatherer its important to respect the natural world and the creatures within. Take what you need and limit what you take this way everything is around for future generations to enjoy cheers
Been watching alot of your videos mate they are awesome, im in whangamata, but like coming over your way to fish as it premo as had a ball on the weekend in the harbor.👍 thanks for the vids cant wait to find my monster to 😁
Thank you its always nice to get this kind of feedback. Yep a great place up here in Coromandel and lots of country to explore. Good luck that big one is swimming around somewhere so keep trying cheers
Nice video. They just opened up the state parks here, I want to push out wide for a marlin but the wind is ripping 15-25 knots. Most likely get soaked and do 10 miles for cracks. In the meantime I have have been jigging more, mostly catching GT. I haven't managed one on the slow jig yet, but I got a 40 lber on my speed jig spinning set up. I picked up a 200g shimano fall flat jig that I am going to try out next time. Have you ever used those? Thanks again for all the effort you put into your videos.
Thanks man and really cool to hear of your jigging over there in the blue water. You are in the place for marlin too and its no easy feat here in NZ waters. I have used jigs similar to the flat fall jig and Zest which is our premium brand here in NZ does jigs very much like them. They work very well especially on pelagics and can be slow pitched quite a bit faster and almost mechanical. These are great though so you should do well, cheers for the comment and always nice to hear from others overseas!
Thanks Noah yep I'm releasing all my episodes that are published first on my Patreon channel. This will change so the content is more current so will be out a few days after its first release on Patreon now cheers
Thanks! Simon I'm confused about landing a big fish as many of my videos feature big fish which happens when you go fishing in the places we do. Yes will keep rolling out tips and have some new stuff in the pipeline so keep an eye out for these. If you want to get access to content on tackle and tips then check out my Patreon channel here: www.patreon.com/nzkayakfishing
Now I remember what it's like, great to watch you catch fish. I've heard mixed signals about kayak fishing in level 3 lock down in NZ during May. I sent Auckland/Waikato Fish and Game an email asking if I could kayak fish under level 3 lock down, they say there is no kayak fishing aloud under level 3, they say all fishing during level 3 has to be land based. However Sports NZ say you are aloud to fish from a kayak--an answer I prefer! This is from their FAQ section:Can I fish off my kayak? "Yes, you are able to fish off your kayak but keep close to the shoreline, stay within your ability, and ensure the weather conditions are low risk." Who F..... Knows? Do you have a definitive answer?
Hi yes it is confusing but yes you can and the info I have is you can kayak fish as long as you are staying within shore and going out on a day when conditions are good. Also you must have experience as many are now taking up this style of fishing just because they can. So mate go for it but just use common sense as we do anyway and enjoy your time. I out there today and tomorrow getting some much needed mental health and gathering for the table. A much better option than takeaways and probably much safer also cheers!
@@NZkayakfishing Thank you for that good Sir. It is a bit windy in Auckland today, but I will be out first thing tomorrow morning, I'm hanging out to pick up a few snapps.
Also put a reply to your other comment on this to and apologies for the delay, the combo is Jigstar Tai Kabura spin rod and Abu Garcia Superior 3000 reel
