Try out an INFLATABLE kayak you say? On a London Canal you say?? Okay, let's do it... In this video, I test out the INTEX Explorer K2 on the Regents Canal here in east London. A glorious summer's day at the start of a heatwave here - hence the early start for my maiden 'voyage'! 🛶☀️
Do you own an inflatable kayak? Thoughts? Advice?
Thanks for watching as always 🙂

Fantastic Ben, love it! About a month ago I went through maida vale/little Venice/Paddington. All around London is great for exploring. It's a whole other world. Looking forward to seeing more of you paddling adventures 🏴‍☠️⚓️😊👍

Great to hear from you Jonathan. I did mull getting a more expensive inflatable kayak but I thought this would be a good way for me to see if I like it. If it doesn’t work out, I can always sell it on. Yes, there seems to be lots of waterways options here in London eh? Just getting out and exploring and seeing things you don’t normally see. Was nice yesterday taking my time too and enjoying some wildlife up close too. Thanks mate. 👍🛶

I killed my 1st K2 when I took it out of the water on a mildly warm spring morning. Left it on the bank & went to put stuff away in the car, then on the return I heard a popping sound. Upon arriving back at the kayak I noticed a huge bulge had appeared along the whole length of 1 side. The (mildly) warm sun had heated the air inside whereby it expanded & caused a seam to rupture along one of the floor chambers. This resulted in the 2 chambers becoming 1 large one which caused the bulge. Now I always let some air out of the floor of my new K2 immediately upon exiting the water to prevent it happening again. With the current temps we are having I would advise not inflating it too much to begin with.

One of my exploring ambitions is to paddle the Regent Canal, what a beautiful location and just outside London! We love our Intex Explorers but absolutely have to agree about the paddle length being abit short, its probably my only negative too, didn't cross my mind to extend it in the way you have so thanks for the tip, will try that next time.. Lovely little video 👍😊

@@benhikescamps I have only used it twice, but yes , water was dripping inside making everything wet .My major frustration though was that while I was paddling , the paddle was rubbing against the outer side left and right. I did what you suggested so I built a longer paddle but I could not test it today because wind at sea was 4-5 Beaufort ,with small to moderate waves.
