Kayaking the Indian River lagoon, Grant-Valkaria

May 12, 2021 we kayaked around a few spoil islands along the Indian River launching from Christenson's Landing which is located along US-1 in Grant-Valkaria, FL. We visited two spoil islands and paddled around Grant Farm Island also known as Vacation Island paradise or VIP Island.

As always, enjoyed the video. Nor sure if you were able to paddle it, but just a few miles north is Goat Creek (with a spoil Island within paddling). The creek itself is a shorter paddle, but enjoyable. Did it with a friend almost as many times as we did Turkey Creek (Palm Bay). Keep up the awesome videos.

Hello, I live on the VIP island part time on my days off from the fire dept. There is a parking lot just ACROSS near the Citgo. Also a dumpster. Free p. o. box is offered by us mail at the post office. There is more like 25 full time residents. Appliances too big for a boat can be brought by a small barge from the island. Let me know when you are in the area, come up the island canal and I'll show you my place.

yeah, it has mostly turned into vacation homes now. It was once quite a unique community.

Most of the Florida intracoastal is surprisingly shallow with the exception of the boating channel which was dredged to make it deeper for commerce activity.
