Kaylee not long ago visited my daughters swimming club, she answered questions and signed autographs for ages, let us hold one of her Olympic gold medals and even joined in singing happy birthday to my daughter. She was an absolute darling, cheers to you Kaylee.
WOW amazing record, very very brilliant! Considering all the races It's incredible the fact that Australia is more or less at the same level of the best of Europe. We'll see fantastic Olimpic Games.
I’m loving this coverage but - normally world record lines are calibrated to reflect how the beginning of a lap with the push of the wall and the underwater dolphin kicks is faster than later in the lap purely just swimming above the surface. This world record line was simply just the average speed of the split over the lap. McKweon didn’t rocket ahead of it by nearly a second (enough though that turn was incredible).
Yeah, I can't believe She's so good in both the 100 fly and 100 back. Curious to see what she'll do in the 50/100/200 free, the 200 back and the 200 IM later this week. Already a star.
That underwater was insane if the world record line was accurate the whole time. From .36 behind it to about a body length in front of it on the turn and underwater! Just Wow!
Wow, well done Aussie! It'll be an interesting showdown between the US & Aust @ the Olympics. Can't wait! Although it'll be so different and weird without speactators' cheer..
Looks like it will be a 3 way dogfight in Tokyo. McKeown (57.45), Smith (57.57), and Masse (57.70). Not much separating them really. Masse hasn't lost a 100m backstroke since Rio, always saves her best for the big races, and think she can go a few tenths faster in the first 50. Her last 50 is superb. Will it be the new WR holder McKeown, former WR holder Smith, of former WR holder/current World Champion Masse?
@@darkeagle5140 The WR time line is quite weird. It only knows how fast a swimmer was of the entire 50, so it just moves at the average velocity over this race. In reality if you would put Regan next to her Kaylee would probably only overtake her the last 25. Regan is also really good underwater, although I'm not sure if she is as good as Kaylee. That being said, Kaylee's back half was absolutely insane. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone splitting close to a 29.35 on the back half.
I’m just curious is Kaylee the sister of Taylor McEwann? Great swim by her. As an American myself I still somewhat enjoy watching both USA and Australia compete in swimming
For this occasion I would like to cite a poem. At first I glossed over these wise words, but through time I've come to realize the truth of these words. Here it goes: Roses are red, Violets are blue, Kaylee will beat Regan, You know it's true.
I realize Australian media have tunnel vision for the US/UK but they really shouldn't be overlooking World Champion and former World Record Holder Kylie Masse. She swam 57.70 at the Canadian Olympic trials yesterday... and faster than Regan Smith swam at the US Olympic trials a few days before. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if they ignore her completely.
The US olympic officials have incentivised every athelete by dangling one million dollars for every gold they bring home from Paris 2024. Other atheletes bring home the gold for only the normal financial benefits. Money don't win ya gold, determination and grit will do the job for ya.
@@doommonger7784 okay , i get your point . The Uk is one of the 4 world contenders for a lot of medals ....but they need to train more for the 200 Back , 400 IM, 200 IM , 100 Back , 200 fly ....to be real contenders in those specific races .For the rest , they have great talent and awesome swimmers . I wanna like in the UK , when the Brexit shinanigans will get smoother . Cheers Mate
