I didn't blame them for not liking me, but was glad most people didn't feel that way. Most were curious as to why I went there, especially in Siberia (to see it). Same here. I used to think that Kazakhs were somehow submissive to Russia. This shows that once they got independent Russia really lost control on them. They enjoy their autonomy and will not renounce to it. Corrupt Russian politicians haven't done a good job trying to keep a friendly steady relationship, it seems.
