"thats quite a heavy load youre shooting at me" im crying... niles this was a seriously emotional moment of kaze yelling his emotions in your general direction please
1:40 You know, the funny thing is that ninja were dishonorable and weren't bound by laws. It's the samurai who were like that - hence why samurai commonly looked down upon ninjas, and viewed them as using underhanded tactics, not facing their enemy head-on, etc. BUT THIS WRITING IS SO GOD DAMN GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD. ITS A FUCKING LITERARY MASTERPIECE IN *EVERY SUPPORT*. I was literally crying after this one... it's so BEAUTIFUL. I have legitimately never cried because of something that was beautiful or interesting or anything... but this is too much. It's absolutely perfect.
Well good thing this was the english version. (Meanwhile, back in Japan) Niles: MUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAAAAAAA!!!!! Kaze: ORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!
Hold on... why did Niles and Kaze act like Niles WON that argument at the end of the B support? Kaze implored him to show mercy and let the prisoners go, and then he said "is that the kind of mercy the Hoshidans would show me?" and Kaze basically said "yes, it is.", and yet Niles waltzes away saying "I rest my case" as if that was a point in his favor instead of Kaze's.
I think it implies that Kaze said he would indeed show mercy, but the hesitancy of his reply showed that some part of him would take his anger out on a ruthless killer like Niles if the scenario were to be true. It's difficult to forgive a person for killing your brethren and Niles knows this very well, it's obvious that Kaze isn't entirely forgiving of it (Not to the extent of Niles of course, but still).
I thoroughly enjoyed this! The captor/prisoner dynamic is one that wouldn't have occurred to me for these two, but it fits perfectly. Getting into the meat of Kaze's feelings about being imprisoned was especially good, and Niles is just hilarious. In some ways I actually prefer the C-S fan hacks more than just the S ones. The fan-writers can write a good support chain from the ground up, instead of working with what's already there.
You and the others should make supports from every character, even if they have supports. :D (Fan supports are often better than from the developers themself ;D)
In the B and A Support, Kaze is helping a Hoshidian prisoner in prison, this sets place in Conquest where they are in Nohr, so what bout Revelations? Wouldn't that stick out?
So would this be a Nohr only support or would it work for revelations? Because you can capture prisoners in both, but they wouldn't necessarily be Hoshidan.
Just a little RQ: Could you do supports for characters that can only support with Corrin with other characters? (i.e. Shura, Flora, Scarlet, Reina, etc.)
This is a fascinating and well-written conversation set. Though honestly it makes me hate Conquest even more to be reminded of the fact that there's no way the Nohrians could possibly be converting Hoshidan soldiers through anything but torture. Do you have a different version of this conversation planned for Revelation, like with Azura and Corrin's constantly changing? Because parts of this really only make sense on Conquest.
Honestly, and I'm speaking as someone who loves your work with this hack, I was really dissapointed with this support. It legitimately comes off as... sort of abusive? Or at the very least, excusing the actions of an abuser with the justification that love changes him and he's totally OK now, which is fairly obviously problematic as hell. Belief the "Abuser has totally changed for love" trope has put many people in dangerous abusive situations. On top of that, I don't think this is accurate to Niles' character. I realize this part is up to interpretation and maybe the writer sees Niles as someone who does torture prisoners, but in-game, Niles likes to see people uncomfortable and even in pain sometimes, but he still has empathy and I can't see him outright torturing prisoners and especially not being rape-y towards them in their darkest hour. Plus, Stockholm Syndrome. It's a pity, because the emotion behind this, of whether or not it's worth regretting trauma if it had some good outcome, is fantastic and that part is done really well, but it's saddled with a support that exaggerates a character to cruelty that precludes any sympathy, and then sweeps his abuse under the rug, not just towards his partner, but towards others.
kendrick5501 well..... this is a Nintendo game, fan supports or no, i doubt they would want to add a relationship that has both characters with the same mother and father. In the game if you have at least one different parent you can marry, i mean would ship it nevertheless and i kinda do
+Dingzhu i guess it might just be me because his s-support feels a bit odd because of the whole "i let the prisoners go because i care about you and they might be important to someone else" simply since i guess i never really saw niles as the type to actually care about others that he doesn't know especially given the angle that letting prisoners go could endanger leo who niles in a couple of his supports states he would never let the threat ever arise but again i'm starting to think his actions are what the whole support was in endgame terms about so i'm sorry for not taking a closer look at your work!
