Northwest Washington state is beautiful and has a lot to offer visiting and transiting pilots. I created this video to share information with pilots entering KBLI/Bellingham airspace. I’ve included local landmarks and approaches in addition to the published VFR Reporting Points. My hope is VFR pilots will find this useful for familiarizing themselves with KBLI Bellingham's airspace for flight-planning and safer operations.

Many thanks, these videos are a lot more work than the flying videos but sometimes it’s for a good cause (makes it worth doing). 👍

love your videos. This one was very helpful. I was flying from Bend, OR to Bellingham to visit a friend and really appreciated this video as part of my flight planning. It was my longest cross country to date and this helped alleviate quite a bit of anxiety. The Tower Controllers were super nice and I followed your landmarks with ease making for a great approach. Thanks! I then went over to Friday Harbor and that was a ton of fun. You all have so many fun places to fly into up there.

You’re most welcome, I’m glad to hear this helped and that you had a great experience. Flying here around the San Juans is amazing but often overlooked because it’s far away, it’s totally worth the trip. Thanks for watching Ginger’s channel, hope all your flights are good ones!! 👍✈️🍀

Hoping this helps our fellow GA pilots with their arrivals into Bellingham. I kept thinking ’If I was a student pilot what would be helpful to know?’ Glad you like the video, appreciate it!

I like your trip videos, but this is outstanding. It would be amazing if more local pilots did this about their home airports.

Thank you Simon, I agree and always look for those type of videos (or posts, etc) but have never seen any. I’m planning to do more as I learn the inside knowledge of the airports in and around the San Juan Islands and NW Washington State. 👍

@@GingerThePlane I'll watch people's videos just to glean what visual cues and local procedures I can. I wish I could find a video like you made for other airports!

I’m a big fan of BruceAirFlying and learn a lot about flying inside the Seattle Bravo from him. Hopefully more pilots will share their local info, makes us all safer pilots.

Used this to brush up, might go to BLI tomorrow.

I recommend coming up the east side, report ‘Chuckanut Bay’ - your altitude - intentions - and the info code. That’s the most common and familiar way to start things off positively with BLI ATC. Enjoy your visit there!! 👍

Great job! I became a pilot at KBLI! I appreciate the details in the reporting points. I had a friend get scolded on his initial call, because he didn't give them his altitude. BLI has no radar coverage and the ground frequency is non-standard due to the proximity of the Canadian border. So use of these reporting points is super important. I'll be sure to share this with anyone thinking about flying there in the future.

We get lots of students and transient pilots at BLI on sunny days. Sometimes the tower has 1 controller working. When both combine and it’s busy any extra info helps everyone, I hope this video contributes to that. I love flying from BLI, it’s very different to most delta airports.
