KC Royals starting pitcher Ryan Yarbrough took a line drive off the bat of Athletics Ryan Noda on Sunday. Thankfully Yarbrough was able to walk off the field under his own strength. Per Yahoo Sports, Yarbrough evaluation concluded he suffered "head fractures" but no further detail was given.

Had this happen to me twice both times i luckily got my glove up in time never got hit in the face but i was never able to pitch after the second time it happening, my anxiety was so bad when I'd pitch i felt like everytime the batter swung i was gonna get a comebacker to my face. I just stuck to playing outfield after that

Had 4 comebacks in my life 1 I ducked out of the way, 1 went off my glove and 1 I got lucky and caught, the last one skinned my face. I swear I have like PTSD because every time I pitched after that, I'll flinch from time to time and throw my glove up on a swing

@@KWengSport started pitching in a Sunday league, I still flinch a couple times an inning lol I pitched my whole life, feels wrong to stop, it's been great to be back on the field after 7 years.

I watched the game and after Perez hit a 112.6 mph homer, I was thinking that would be bad if that hit the pitcher, then a few innings later...guy was pitching his best game of the season and it ended like this. All the best to Yarbrough.

Lived to tell about this one, thankfully. However, we will look back and wish we had done something earlier - as it will take a death to implement some kind of protective gear for the pitcher. Let's do it now before the inevitable happens. Players are just too powerful.

Can't get a good look for these 2 Angles. Did it hit him in the face and bounce off, or the glove and bounce off, or by the looks of the ricochet, the jaw or the temple of the head?? Not a clear angle, but it looks like it ricochet off somewhere of his skull.

It was definitely off his face on his left side. He's on the IL with facial fractures; I'm hearing that the fractures are orbital ones.

That’s why they should permit or ABSOLUTELY and mandatorily have some type of face mask and head masks and cup for private area for possibilities of being hit in these IMPORTANT areas… it doesn’t happen too often but we never know when they will happen… BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY IN ANY INSTANCE…👌👍✌️

As a pitcher many years ago, this is the one thing I always feared…..a line drive or bad ground bounce to the head. No time to react/catch it.

When I was pitching (high school/semipro), I was taught to bring the leg you push off the rubber with around after releasing the ball, don't "fall off" the bump to one side, and assume a defensive stance with your glove up and open.
