If you are choosing pvt you have to be careful about the placement records and the quality of the faculty there ( not saying govt faculties are superior) and the fee will also be higher. In case you get IT in top colleges like Barton hill, your chances of getting placed there will be higher if you hold the relevant skills because the exposure you get there will be different. But there are also good colleges like Rajagiri, where CS programs are good. But you have to be mindful of the fee factor.

In the end in the software field people from all branches will be there. Otherwise if you can afford a private college then no problem in taking this option . 4 common maths paper is there for every department .So good knowledge in maths will be a plus , but you can always learn and improve. But in courses like BSc computer science or BCA maths papers will be less(Compared to Btech) and you can get job in IT industry from these branches also.

Barton Hill IT would be better, since Barton Hill is located in Trivandrum and it's in close proximity to Technopark the placement chances will be higher.
