Keanu Reeves Backs Katt Williams & Reveals How Hollywood PUNISHED Him.
The director and his co-star Sandra Bullock implored Reeves to return for the sequel. "I said, 'I read the script and I can't. It's called 'Speed' and it's on a cruise ship,'" Reeves recalled to Esquire. He turned down the reported 5.5 million dollars salary for the movie and instead went back to the theater in Canada to play Hamlet for under 2,000 dollars a week. Obviously, Fox wasn't exactly thrilled. According to Reeves, the studio started spreading rumors, saying he ditched the sequel to tour with his band, Dogstar. But that's far from the truth, he insisted.

I think its because to him its his love of the art, not a out the money.
