Excellent realization of this "cloudy trophy," or maybe "dusky jewel"! I leaned on this poem quite a lot--along with Tennyson's "In Memoriam"--in the year or so after my Mom died in 1994. Always willing to give it another read--or listen! Especially on February 23rd, which it is as I write this...

Melancholy has also to do with a belief in losing the mind, and this again (a consolation) can happen only to personalities who still p o s s e s s mind. According to GRACIAN many don't lose their mind just because they don't have one !
