But it's not that difficult to feel empathy and consider that it shouldn't just be up to the woman for contraception and put hormone altering dugs into their bodies. A male contraceptive pill is theoretically possible but has been slow to develop because this is not a priority in a male dominated pharma industry.

@@chiefkc1306 out of curiosity why don’t you want to hear about it? It affects over half of the world’s population and many people around you so, isn’t it important to listen to what people go through so you can form an understanding?

For me it feels almost like an invasion of their privacy. It’s certainly an important conversation to have, but in a way it also doesn’t feel like my business to know about? I don’t personally have a concrete opinion on this topic, and whether we should all be more open with such things, but it’s definitely not something that right now *feels* correct to just talk about casually. This could well be my own issue, perhaps I should be more open to such conversations, but it would feel wrong to mandate people talk about them with such transparency. Just my personal thoughts on the topic.

I've thought about this too, and not even just the different hormones levels having different effects, but the general inconvenience or maybe feeling self conscious depending on what products you use (e.g. not being able to go to the toilet to change a tampon and risk leaking if you're in a long event and your turn is coming up, wearing a pad whilst in spandex pants and loads of camers zooming in on you in 4k). Also what if you're in the middle of something like diving/gymnastics and get hit with a nasty cramp, could be quite dangerous if you keel over during certain moves or landings. So I just assume most women athletes are on some form of birth control to stop periods when they're competing, to avoid any of those situations. It'd be interesting to hear more of their perspectives about the topic!

@@tiff.k. My understanding is that it hasn't been studied very much. I remember a recent study that said woment we more likely to get injured during their period. Seems like a pretty basic check to have figured out so recently.
