Guys, I loved this video so much. I need to go back and watch more of you guys, coz I'm a bit late to the party. I love the fact that you talk about the things that genuinely have an impact on you and not just perfumes that you think people want to hear about! Great to see Trumper Sandalwood getting a mention, it's probably my favourite Sandalwood of all time. And loved seeing Bogue getting some much deserved praise. I was one of the very fortunate ones back in 2013 to get one of the few original bottles of Cologne Reloaded. That really did deserve the word masterpiece!! Thanks fellas!
Greggieboy76 cheers Greg. Your channel was one of the first that got me interested in fragrance reviews, so I really appreciate the comment. And yes, you are lucky to have your hands on cologne reloaded!
You two are so wonderfully charming, I fully expect one day for it to be revealed that you are just characters created as part of some elaborate backstory for some new Steven Moffat show.
Great work again guys. Find it hard to decide on 10, but if i had to just keep 5 for life would be: AdP Colonia CdG Hinoki Diptyque 34 Boulevard Rive Gauche Byredo Rose of no mans land
You both make civet, musk and skanky oud sound invigorating. I'm not there yet with any of them but maybe someday. I love your depth of explanation in your videos and you play off of each other perfectly. It's like we're eavesdropping on a fragrant conversation.
I suppose we’ve always been interested in things which smell different to you’re every day modern designer fragrance, which has lead us to more ‘challenging’ notes
Clicked on this so fast and was not disappointed! Stellar list guys-adding several to my try list. *My current top 10 keep only*: 1) Jubilation XXV 2) Dior Homme 3) L’Air Du Desert Morocain 4) Egoiste 5) Royal Oud 6) Sartorial 7) Terre D’Hermes 8) Oud Wood 9) Eau Sauvage 10) Grey Vetiver PS: Timbuktu is truly a tragedy now-totally different and devoid of that wonderful bright mango. Alas, won’t become part of my collection in its current state.
Thank YOU!!! I always learn something new from your provocative reviews. The house of Areej Le Dore is a new discovery...be still my heart. I truly love the way in which you describe fragrances as "transportative" - the emotional effect that scent has on our memories and promise for the future...
DZING!!!! This is niche at first step! I loved it, as I I smelled it, at first sniff! Norhing smells like DZING 😍 And LUSH is the best thing in the world. Besides ELdO, ROUGUE & BOGUE❣ And Prin Lomros scents 😃
Interesting and informative. Thanks. My must have fragrances are: 1740 Marquis de Sade by Histoires de Parfums, Azzaro pour Homme by Azzaro, Dior Homme Parfum by Christian Dior, Guerlain Homme L'Eau Boisée by Guerlain, Incident Diplomatique by Jovoy, Narciso Rodriguez for Him EDT by Narciso Rodriguez, Patchouli intense by Nicolai, Yatagan by Caron.
my collection is rather small, but my top 10 out of what I own would be: Amouage Jubilation XXV Amouage Reflection Man Frederic Malle Portrait Of A Lady MFK Grand Soir Parfums de Marly Herod Zaharoff Signature Pour Homme Tiziana Terenzi Maremma Mancera Cedrat Boise Casamorati Lira Hermes Terre d'Hermes
my favorite Sandalwood is Floris Santal. Today, Trumper's Sandalwood arrived. It is amazing! so much lemon! i was surprised. It is like all the sandalwoods I grew up with that were musky, grandfather- like, etc. Fantastic scent.
After a year of disliking MEM, I admit I'm starting to like it this winter. What used to be cloying to my nose is starting to sing to my nose. Time will tell if i like it enough for a FB. You've hit the nail on MAAI smelling like Kouros. I really like it. I actually procured a small bottle of the newer MDCI Chypre Palatin. When I have time, i plan to compare it to my vintage bottle.
gunmetal24 MEM does change with each wearing. I tried it when it first came out and didn’t love it, but when I came back to it a year later it was love. Will be interesting to hear your thoughts on CP
Great Selections ... my very tough 10 ... Dior Eau Sauvage Parfum Tauer Au Coeur du Désert Vetiver Extraordinaire by Frederic Malle Portrait of a Lady by Frederic Malle The Night by Frederic Malle Borneo Zen / EO No 2 Ensar Oud Oud Sublime by Nicolai Parfumeur Createur O Hira by Stéphane Humbert Lucas Iris Homme by Satori Parfum Satori by Satori Parfum
I purchased a decant of Cigar Rum by Strangers Perfum and it is purely fantastic. The scent wafts (no pun) all throughout the day. Great recommendation guys.
It’s true , it’s not the mainstream fragrances , I’ve been Frag heading for 3 months now (Covid) now after these two, it’s like starting Over. Impossible to find stuff, lucky scent has most thank goodness
I recently got a decant of Timbuktu. I wish I saw this video first. I tried it and wasn't that impressed and now I know it's because it is the newer formulation. 🤷🏾♂️
I recently bought the current formulation of Timbuktu. The only way I can describe it is generic and it's such a shame. Habit Rouge EDP is an absolute masterpiece.
Great choices! I love Habit Rouge and most of its flankers. I like to wear Jicky when I’m chopping wood. Lol Lots of nature here on an island. What are the main differences between Jicky and MdM the other Guerlain you talk about? It’s hard to find here. I want it! My wife gets mad if I wear Mitsouko. She says I smell like a 100 year old madame. Wears my kimono and mud mask?
MdM comes across as a little sharper, and I actually find the civet note a little more prominent. We’ve just recorded a (long) video entirely devoted to classic Guerlain!
Second time I watch this. Dzing is the most interesting fragrance regard to concept that I have tried. It really catches the circus image, and the elephant dung is actually great. Trumpers Sandalwood is also fantastic stuff. So comforting and versatile. I have the shower gel as well and its very similar to the fragrance. What a great way to start the day!
I have not yet sniffed the Trumper Sandalwood (I'm still rather a newbie at this, about 16 months in at my ripe old age of 64, now owning about 25 fragrances) but I know this is one I really must acquire, as I've heard only raves about it. PLUS, when I looked it up again on Fragrantica just now and out of curiosity and peeked at the "People who like this also like..." assortment--well, wow--there were so-o-o many things there I love: Terre d'Hermes, Guerlain Vetiver, Eau Sauvage (EDP far more than EDT, as the latter is barely more than liquid Lemon Drops, but the EDP is so rich and complex), Encre Noire (a million wows), YSL La Nuit de l'Homme, and Amouage Jubilation XXV (the latter I have only as a sample). If G.F. Trumper Sandalwood appeals to people who like these gems, then I cannot possibly live with myself if I don't get myself a bottle of it.
I’m really excited about the new Guerlain video!!! The think Guerlain sits on the highest throne of continuing historic fragrance houses. More so than the later revamped houses of Houbigant and Penhaligons. Was Geo F Trumper revamped? Any other historic houses you could think of? Acqua di Parma was later revamped as well.
No, I don’t think Trumpers has been bought, which is probably why they’ve kept things small scale. Grossmith are an interesting example, in that they had a hiatus of nearly a century, but they’ve been ‘bought back to life’ by the family, who have done so with a great deal or care and attention
I have a small collection of around 30 fragrances and these are my top 5 so far 1) Tauer Au Coeur du desert - Balsamic/Date-night fragrance 2) Agarwood Assam Maroof (perfume oil) -Damp forest on hills 3) Lalique Encre Noire - Dark Vetiver (my one for life) 4) Miss Dior originale eau de toilette -Dry/Chypre/Spicy 5) Abdul Samad Al Qurashi Safari Blend (perfume oil) - Floral/Vanilla/opulent I'm most interested to test Chypre Palatin by MDCI parfums and Under My Skin by Francesca Bianci.
Great selection brother, i agaarwood assam by maroof really sounds good. How do you think i can get my hands on some of it .Any website or contact details ? , i live in India btw.

Just bought myself Breath of God..its a bizarre but wonderful scent, i get animalic. Bought Kouros at the same time and i got a very similar vibe off both scents..as you say maybe tomorrow a different vibe
Price point not for blind buys but most I won't find in my local shops. Undoubtedly still great value for the quality you get esp. compared with "Office for Men" aka "Vent Triple" (hot air triple).😜 Anyone have a suggestion of where to get samples of these?
I am just starting on my journey here, and I am loving your advice and deep insight into this world. But I have a question in general: I have been used to - over the years - to have a matching deo stick to every buy of a fragrance I do. If i do not find a matching deo to my edt I wont buy it. Is that "old thinking" or what do you guys think? To use a deo stick of another brand, kind of "puts me off" using the scent.
May I ask for your opinion? If you were to choose between Morah and Derby (current reformulation) which would you choose and why? Are they very similar or is there place for both in a collection? Thank you in advance 🙏🏻, Lionel
Hi, great question. I have to say it would be Morah for the time being. I love Derby, but Morah is another level of opulence and beauty. That said, Derby is a beauty and well worth enjoying.
great lists gentlemen, thank you for sharing. My current 10 are: absolue pour le soir benjoin boheme traversee du bosphore habit rouge edp portait of a lady ambre sultan eau sauvage parfum (2012) incident diplomatyque el born for him (narciso rodrigues)
Hi Guys. Just recently got into fragrances so I dont really know what I'm talking about. I do really enjoy your videos, really informative, so cheers for that. I got Timbuktu today and on first spray I thought oooh nice, interesting, then as it began to dry down I could detect creosote/tar and then as it fully settled down an hour or so later it smelt of goats arse! 🤮😄👍
@@WaftsfromTheLoft Loving my Gurlain Vetiver, although it doesn't last well on me, I dont care I just love it. Got some Ottoman Empire and Morah arriving tomorrow! 👍😄
@@WaftsfromTheLoft Its only a 5ml sample and it's part 2 so dont know if it's different to the original. £60 from frageancesamples, knowing my luck it will smell like camel arse!
Only 10? Creed Silver Mountain Water Creed Aventus Creed Royal Oud Tom Ford Oud Wood Tom Ford Italian Cypress Prada L'Homme Apple Brandy by Kilian Kazimi by HoM Maduro by Fort & Manle Roja Dove Creation E This is a quick compilation, if I had more time to think about it, maybe I'd switch a few of the selections.
I can't stand Lush / Gorilla Parfumes. I don't know if it's the case of dna, or used fixatives. There is something overwhelmingly chemical in all of them, an umpleasant artificial backbone.
Wafts from The Loft ahhh...i see...one of my uncles build a room in his house with a ...what was it?... Wurlitzer organ! It was lovely ...all the pipes, drums, windy stuff in one room and the actual organ in another. Sounded fantastic!
Fahd Fprime We all have our passions; some buy wall hangings, glass figurines, or 19th century memorabilia-but we fragheads do it our own way-art expressed as scent.
Shane DM i do share the same passion for scents but I’m trying to figure out when it becomes a waste of money. The aim was to have different thoughts about this topic not saying that you actually waste money. Maybe it’s because of me learning English so it wasn’t clear enough
07:58 - Don’t count on it...not if the penny-pinching accountants and ‘douche’ marketing managers at LMVH/GUERLAIN have their way (which they do). Great French perfumery died the day ‘Mouchoir de Monsieur’ did - (1904-2022). Requiescat In Pace Aeterna.
