Keep your rear end square is all about 3 popular methods to keep the rear end centered in the chassis! First and foremost, you much confirm your chassis is square! Checkout my video on this topic: • Drag Racing Chassis Sq...
This video covers the wishbone locator, diagonal link bar and the panhard bar. IF you are going to run a panhard bar in drag racing, this is a must watch video to ensure you have the proper mods in place to minimize right to left and left to right shifting!!!

Great videos man. I have restored several old (mid 70s) dragster and funny car chassis' and gotten them to pass chassis cert. But Im toying with building a door car chassis myself from scratch. Your videos are giving me lots of good ideas. Thanks

I can add a video for just a rear ARB, but I would encourage you to watch this video which shows some good info on rear ARB dynamics: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AVyYIupM6GA.html Go fast, go straight! Be SAFE!!

Can the wishbone locator be behind the rear end I have a torque arm F body car

Great videos. Does the front wish bone mount have to match to front four link bolt location? For no binding? I'm going to be about 6 inch shorter on wish bone front mount location.

Would you recomend a diagnol bar on a leaf spring ladder bar car with floaters and sliders?
@KevinWilsonSBC
@KevinWilsonSBC 2 года назад
We generally have not had to run any locators on the 4 link or ladder bars with leaf springs and floaters. There is certainly not any harm with adding a diagonal link bar though. Go fast, go straight! Be SAFE!!

Thanks Kevin, great vid. Quick question, is a watts-link another option, and if so where would that fall in your preference list? I’m still in the early learning stages of suspension components (your videos have been a huge help!) so my apologies if it’s a silly question! My initial research has been comparing the panhard bar to a watts-link, I wasn’t even aware of the other options!
@KevinWilsonSBC
@KevinWilsonSBC 2 года назад
Thanks Paul for asking this! The Watts link is actually, in my opinion, an improved option to the panhard bar, especially for road racing courses. However, with the watts link option, you really need to keep the 2 link rods the same length and at the same angles, so the rods should be installed parallel to each other. For drag racing, I tend to avoid them if at all possible. Not because they don't work when properly setup, more for on the rear of a drag car, it is already very busy on the back of the chassis. When you consider coilover shocks, rear ARB, 4 link or ladder bar or leaf springs, with shocks and ARBs then having 2 more rods that need to have mount points and then a center pivot on the rear end rear cover centerline, then you just simply begin to run out of room. Especially for cars more concerned with straight line acceleration, drag racing, the simple solutions like a diagonal link bar just works so well, and keep a driver from getting in trouble with out of whack geometry. Or even a panhard bar properly set up as explained in this video, is much simpler and provides adequate left to right lateral control. Hope this helps! Go fast, go straight! Be SAFE!!

@@KevinWilsonSBC Thanks Kevin, that certainly clarifies things for me! I had actually wondered about a lack of space under my vehicle, I’ll now consider those other options. Cheers from Australia!

What's your take on guys using a wishbone on leaf spring cars?
@KevinWilsonSBC
@KevinWilsonSBC 2 года назад
I highly encourage a locator device for any rear setup. We have on a few occasions not ran one for ladder bars with floaters and sliders with leaf springs, but that was the owner's decision, not ours. Now those cars worked great and did not show any left to right movement. However, a wishbone or even adapting a diagonal link bar will never hurt as long as it can move with the suspension up and down. The leaf springs do a great job of holding the rear end, but their main job is to support the weight of the vehicle. Just so happens they do a decent job limiting laterally movement. So anytime you can add a wishbone to ensure the rear end stays centered, I FULLY support. Sorry for the long winded response. Go fast, go straight! Be SAFE!!

I see a lot of guys putting rear steer in the car...Is this a band aid for another problem an easy fix or normal....???
@KevinWilsonSBC
@KevinWilsonSBC 2 года назад
There are times where you need to introduce rear steer to help drive the car straight. The chassis has a natural tendency to twist up on left front, which moves more weight over right rear, which in turns drives the car left. Even with the best rear ARB, this loading of the right rear requires introducing some rear steer to help overcome this chassis loading. Go fast, go straight! Be SAFE!!
