It’s worked for me. I use a generous amount and only apply towards the bottom of the shepherd’s hook. If they try to walk thru they won’t make it and will die trying. Sometimes I think about use Vick’s Vapor rub instead to see if that would detract them more. Anyway sorry it’s not working for you. Your ants are stronger swimmers than mine are I guess. 🐜 🤣
@@marchelklawonn5809 I am over 90 from May - October and have never had it melt on me. If it’s melting on you though - any moat is the way to go. You can get a 3 pack for about $10-$15 on Amazon. 👍
@@brainybabeusa My friend if they are that determined to pass thru the vaseline I think your only other choice is to invest in an ant moat. They are cheap and Amazon sells a ton of different versions and colors. Good luck. Ants are the worst! 🐜
did not work for me because in oklahoma everything melts in this heat we are over 100 i tried everything i can think of to stop ants the jelly melts off the pole. LOL
I am in Texas, but I put so much gasoline on my pole that even if it melts it still greases the pole and pools up at the base enough to keep them away. Layer it on thick…👍
This worked. Thank you so much! But I have another question. Sometimes when I put my feeder out, overnight it gets emptied but the feeder is still upright? What's causing this? Thanks for your response, if you have one.
Glad my video helped! Regarding your question…and chance your feeder is leaking or the wind is blowing it enough to where the sugar water is spilling out? If not other birds do drink sugar water (if the can get too it try the holes in your feeder) house finches go to mine often. Orioles love sugar water. Perhaps that’s a possibility? Also could be squirrel? That’s interesting.
@@BKsWildlifeWorld Thanks for your quick response. I was so excited to see a red-throated hummingbird last Sunday. First visit to my feeder for the season.
(Look to see where you are at-! Got "nectar bats" (like Tucson reportedly has)➖❓❗ 😲They 🦇 will empty hummingbird feeders overnite is what I've recently learned; We don't have them here in MN nor the problem (thank God☝)‼
My ants have never made it past my think layer of vaseline. Sounds like yours are much stronger and hungrier than mine. 🤣 Sorry to hear. Good luck to you.
Didn’t work for me either. An ant moat did the trick. (A clear plastic 8- oz cup, a wine bottle cork and 2 cup hooks. Screw a cup hook into the top/center of the cork. Screw hook #2 through the bottom of the cup (I used a push pin to make a pilot hole) and into the bottom of the cork. The pressure of the cup hook screw against the cork prevents leaking. The cup holds several ounces of water for birds, etc and the ants won’t/can’t swim across it.
Agree - moats are always best. Plus they are relatively cheap, and not messy indeed. This video illustrated what you can try in the absence of a moat. Best thing to do is have a feeder with a built in moat. Then you can double moat to really stop the ants. 👍
It’s hot where I live and I have never had the sun melt mine off. I would use a generous thick amount and place it over a large area on the pole. Good luck.
