The "what ifs" are so corrosive, and are never ever helpful. My husband died unexpectedly age 52. He was unwell, and I told him I was going to call the ambulance, but he told me not to, and just to let him sleep until 4 pm. When I checked on him at that time, he was dead. When I told the paramedics that I KNEW I should have called them anyway, I was told that they would have come, been refused, and they would have left. In the end, after trying to endlessly blame myself, I had to admit that I wasn't responsible, so healing could slowly begin. Terrible accidents happen, particularly to our beloved pets. However, Onion was a deeply loved member of your family. You have a really beautiful soul, and thank you for sharing your inspiration with us.
I’m so sorry for your loss, and that you had to lose him that way. I can imagine the guilt! I’m so pleased you’re now able accept it wasn’t your fault!
Aw, Remi, I’m so sorry. I think losing a canine companion is just as hard as losing a human. The image of you opening the box had me in tears because that was my experience, too. Take care of yourself and your dear family. Better days will come. Hug you!
Yes, Remi- it’s awful! I lost my 2 1/2 year old kitty in October ‘21 when he was hit by a car. My condolences for your loss…❤️ I came home from church and found him on the side of the road. Carrying his 15 pound body home was all I could do not to collapse! I’m in my 50s and I’ve never had to deal with that. I’ve had cats all my life. I’m alone otherwise, and it was the beginning of a whole year of loss. I lost my next two within that year. They were older, and they each got thyroid disease- one of them getting shut down kidneys and the other getting cancer. One month apart - had to put them down. So I lost all three in the course of a year. You’re right, it is absolute hell on earth. I have no children, I came home to an empty house with no one to greet me. The first week was hell. The second week I thought “OK I’m gonna get through this“. The third week I literally just fell in the floor crying for several days. I don’t know that I have gone a week since last November without crying. It is a process. Grief is different for everyone. I now have a visiting Siamese, who is so kind and so loving. he belongs to the neighbors on the street next-door, but they are gracious enough to let him visit and stay with me. Gods way, it’s not something we always understand, but have faith in Him and know that there is some lesson in this that you may not get for a while. I read somewhere that grief is love turned inside out and that the amount of our love is reflected in the amount of our grief. I'm so sorry about the sudden loss of your furbaby, Onion. And yes, we do tend to "if only" and "what if" right after. Normal, but also realistically, we can't dwell on those types of thoughts because the guilt isn't healthy and it won't bring back those who've died. You are doing great right now, staying in the moment with your house and family, and taking time to grieve and rest when needed. Hugs to you all and continue to share, it's helpful!
I'm sorry for your loss. I'm grieving my husband, since January. The thing I wasn't expecting was fear. The grief feels like fear, I wish someone would have told me that. Whether, it's our pets, friends, siblings, or anyone who is close to us, the grief feels overwhelming. Self care is important. So if you need to do nothing but lounge in your night clothes and watch TV, clean up the house, or anything else, do it. There is no shame in having any feelings you have. It's normal. Our beloved 7 year old cavalier slipped in the garden 18 months ago and broke his back. I let him out to chase the birds and I have struggled to get over the guilt. He was my baby and the kids moved on quickly. I have his photo on my phone and his pictures over the house. He will never be replaced and I have forgiven myself for what was a truly awful incident in our home. It will get better, big hugs xxxx
Ran across this video randomly looking for cleaning tips. So sorry for your loss! Cried when you got the ashes back. I still miss my fur babies, brother and sister who passed a year apart. I have their ashes and that is a comfort.😢

My baby brother died 2020 he was only 45. My mum keeps his ashes on her dressing table in her bedroom. She can't part with him, he was her youngest. So sorry for your loss xx

I have fibromialgia & chronic fatigue and you have inspired me to take control of the mess! I have cleaners one a week to vacuum & mop, but SO cluttered! I’ve taken your example of making a list. I have days of exhaustion that it’s hard to Move. This disease took my nursing career and my marriage & im determined it’s not going to take my sanity & cause me to live in a Total mess! The list has helped me SO SO much! Bit by bit it’s looking nice and organised! It is SO hard to lose a beloved pet.😢 I grew up on a farm surrounded by woods, and lost any number of pets to snakes, bobcats, and the like. But the one pet I loved most was a gentle German Shepherd named Brandy. He was so protective and loving toward me. He would 'hug' me by leaning against me if I was depressed or crying, and once he saved my life. Sadly, a neighbor's pit bull broke loose and attacked him; he died two days later. It devastated our whole family and he was so loved even our neighbors across the way cried. That was more than 40 years ago and I still think of that gentle, special dog. If I could resurrect him I would. I feel your pain. It does get easier, with time. ❤

My Dearest Darlings, So, so, sorry for your loss. I just had to let my "baby" go, a yorkie/pomeranian mix, God blessed me with Cricket for 18 wonderful years. He developed bone cancer. The vet told me on a Tuesday, had to say "goodbye " that Friday. Held him til he crossed the "Rainbow bridge." I know how heartbroken you are. It will be better one day... One day you'll wake up and discover it hurts a bit less than yesterday. That's how it works, you know, gradually one day at a time. I lost my fur baby dog a couple of years ago. I swore I would not get another dog. And yet here I rescued a new dog from a tragic life of abuse. I have felt guilty about losing my dog and still, 2 years later, keep asking myself what if, or I should have done this instead, or I should have paid attention more. Those thoughts haunt me still. And like you, cleaning when there is a tragedy or I am upset, helps me so much keep my mind busy. So, thank you for this video, and I am so sorry about the loss of your family fur baby. it's normal to do what if often after a loss. this is a normal part of grief. it's so hard for our brains to process profound loss. I'm so sorry. I had my cat for 21 years and she had an amazing life. it took me 3 months to work through all of the things I thought maybe I could've done better. it was her time and nothing I did could've probably stopped it. she lived a long time due to being so happy. I still had major regrets. it takes time. I'm sorry you're going through this. so painful!

Hello, I am not quite sure how my iPad could read my emotions and know what I’m going thru but here I am, watching this video that popped out of absolutely nowhere. Or so it seems. Just 2 days ago I had to make the hardest decision of my life and let my little 16 months old puppy named Hedgy (a Pom that looks like a hedgehog) cross the Rainbow into a puppy heaven. The grief is so suffocating that it’s hard to breathe, let alone clean my house. As I’m aimlessly watching stupid pimple popping videos, laying on my floor curled up and surrounded by dog toys, clothes, unwashed dishes, your video How to tackle a mess in 2 hours (or something like that) popped up. I watched couple of times, made mental notes that we have so much in common meaning I like a clean house, I don’t like to clean. And I can not stand folding fresh laundry, I went on your page and the second (to last) video is this one. Thank you, Universe, RU-vid or whatever Higher Power there might be, for you sharing your most intimate feelings and saying them out loud because I never could. I used the “FlyLady” system and had our fifth and final biological daughter. I spent 3 and 1/2 months loving my sweet Jayna. She passed away suddenly in her sleep. We lost her to Covid in 2022 and the last thing I want to do when I get home tonight is the daily reset tasks, much less anything else. Thank you for being the voice in my ear today while I worked, giving me something positive to focus on, as I binged every single one of your videos and got to know you and your family a bit. I'll be back often as your voice is very pleasing to listen to and you've already gotten some ideas for getting my house back in order pinging around in my brain.
My cat Murphy had to be helped across the rainbow bridge while I was on vacation. I cant look at pics of him without bawling my eyes out. Long as I stay busy, Im okay.. But the moment i stop moving.. I start crying. God gave us Murphy(he fell out of a tree into my sons arms and he was soooo tiny) and God wanted him back.
My beloved grandfather, who I lived with for 20yrs before I got married, died during covid (though surprisingly not due to covid). He was around 102 or older. He was also back home a whole continent away and I wasn’t able to attend the funeral as I had young kids at the time. I remember silently weeping while I went from room to room putting things away and scrubbing and wiping and mopping, it somehow helped me cope.
Losing a fur baby is devastating! I’m a senior citizen, so I’ve experienced that grief numerous times. I have 2 sweet elderly pugs snoring beside me on the couch right now. Such love our pets give us bc they really are family. Sending hugs from the USA.

Oh, it’s so hard! Our dachshund passed suddenly one day, and our Goldren walked around the house, looking for her, and *he* passed just 10 days later. We were devastated. It was 4 years before we could even consider another dog. Now we have another Golden, and a Kelpie/terrier mix. The little kelpie is the alpha, which is funny. Love them both, but I still miss Dash and Nikki. They’re always in my heart.

We’ve all lost love ones and fur babies and it doesn’t get easy no matter what you do. I’m old so I can tell you death is part of life, not a part you ever look forwards too but still there it is. I'm so sorry to hear about Onion. You're right, life is sometimes **** and impossible to make sense of. In the space of nine months I lost both my cats, had a human family bereavement and my closest friend had a life changing event that has shocked us to the core. A friend of mine said "life only throws at you what it believes you can handle". You sound strong. Remember you gave Onion the life he wanted and made him happy while he was here. Oh sweetheart, I am so very very sorry. It is absolutely heartbreaking when we lose a much loved pet. Be gentle with yourself , take your time. There is no right or wrong way to deal with grief, just your way. I’m much much older than you and have sadly had to say goodbye to many wonderful dogs in my lifetime, but trust me,in time you will start feeling better and it will hurt less and less, you’ll be able to remember your lovely dog with smiles rather than tears. And one day you will be ready to welcome another dog into your life. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other, and hug your boys. ❤

Remi, so very sorry about the pain and loss... You know many people also go over the event and think that if they had only done things differently, etc. and feel guilt and more pain: this is not your fault. Accident means not purposely and I know you would never hurt or cause hurt to a pet... There are so many factors involved and we are not in control of most of them. No one can anticipate most accidents and please forgive yourself, if forgiveness is needed. You said that this is a first experience with grief close to you... That makes it harder to realize there is a time when resilience of spirit and body helps us to heal and integrate our loss rather than it being in the conscious mind all of the time. It won't always be this intense and you are not a bad person when you start to feel better. Love will still be there but extreme suffering will lessen. All of your feelings are valid and I hope you are getting support as you go through this. It is also known that young mothers with little children are more susceptible to the fear of "accidents" as they are hyper-aware of youthful vulnerability. Also normal! but not very comfortable. This too has a way of evening out as time passes. Not to lecture but share what life has taught me. Prayers for you to the Almighty who watches over you and your heart.

So sorry to hear about poor onion. It's horrific when a member of the family passed. My dog Maple got knocked down about a month ago, she lost her right eye and the vet thought she had a broken neck. The tears and heartache I went through that night thinking I'd have to put her to sleep was agonising. Thankfully after a couple of days the swelling went down on her neck and a CT scan ruled out any broken bones. Our whole family was so so happy. I wish it could have gone that way for you guys too and poor onion. But ge will always be with you in your hearts 🥰🥰

Sorry for your loss. I lost my mum in August last year and my big sister in 2015. Both from cancer and witnessed both their deaths. I fully understand the flash backs. Be kind to yourself and cry when you need to
