Lithuania is NOT Russia without Putin. Lithuania is Lithuania. We are a Baltic culture, a people with our own unique language and history. Unfortunately, we were also illegally occupied by Russians and the USSR, and forced to learn russian language in schools. The problem with russians, even the "good ones" is that they operate from a very imperialist mindset. I hope this woman can learn to respect Lithuania for Lithuania and ensure her kids assimilate and learn the language. We are not and will never become "another Russia" by any means.
@matthewhale2531
@matthewhale2531 6 месяцев назад
If I interpret her words correctly, I think she means that Lithuania is what Russia COULD have been, rather than simply Lithuania is a copy and paste of Russia minus Putin. I share your thoughts though, that hopefully all those who take refuge in Lithuania respect the country and are prepared to integrate, learn the language, and embrace the culture.

Lithuania is not ruzzia without putin. Lithuanians are not russians and they will never be. Those, who share the same sad history with them can easily understand that she said exactly what she said. Especially those, who have been occupied by them previously. Even "good russians' have their imperialistic mindset, they think that without russia world would not thrive, but not even hiddenly sympathising USSR...

To be honest, I was shocked to hear that they don't seem to want proper protection. I understand that under normal circumstances every person wants to live completely freely but knowing that you're a target, wouldn't it make sense to rethink certain things?
