Thank you Larry for this excellent video. Made my 104/2 restoration/modifications so much easier. I've actually bypassed the Woofer section of the Crossover.I am running a miniDSP with the proper KUBE EQ direct into the refoamed (Donuts only) Cavity Coupled 8" Woofers. I added a second set of Binding Posts for just the two Woofers and replaced the thin crappy Speaker Wires with some 16AWG Speaker wire. About to replace the Ferrofluid on the Tweeter's today. I'll let you know how that goes.
@@larrysmith7168 Tweeter Ferrofluid was a success. One of the Tweeters level was way down. Just had to remove the screws and re-align it to with the front baffle and success ! Thanks once again for a great Video.
I remember listening to these back in the early 80’s at a local Hi-Fi shop. If I recall correctly they came with a small black box, the Kef Cube? an electronic device with a dial on it, it’s purpose unclear.
Some people change out the tweeter for another brand but I removed the dried up fluid inside the tweeter and added some new fluid and made them sound so much better. Fyi. I bought these used many years ago. Finding the fluid was a little difficult but I think eventually I got from the manufacturer for free.
Hi Larry, my Kef 104/2 doesn't seem to have audible or same output for 100 hz in comparison to the other low tones, does this mean it is broken or is this expected?
I can't imagine the rod not having a purpose that is beneficial to the sound in some way and can't imagine after going through all the trouble that I did, not returning it to it's original condition. But I suppose you could do as you suggest and may never hear a difference.
My customer supplied the parts. I do seem to think Madison and ordered as a "kit". It's been years but I recall a couple were unable to be matched but the values were achieved by combining 2 caps together to reach the value of the one being replaced.
@@larrysmith7168 Blimey that was a quick reply to an old vid but thankyou ! I've noticed that on some there was a foam outer surround, some a butyl, got confused over these B200's. Thanks again.
