Kieth Emerson will always remain in my heart a true Maestro of contemporary music. I saw all the ELP tours and I was a fan boy ever since day one on listening to that first album.May he and Greg rest in peace....there music will forever live on...!!!!!

I am so sorry to hear the sorrowful news that my idol keyboardist passed away between last night and today. There is a, "Rolling Stone" statement of it as well as on Facebook. I pray that our Lord in Heaven takes Keith into His Kingdom and keep him from all harm and let him continue his music eternally !!!!!!!!

+Jeff Silver He signed many autographs that evening. There were lots young guys in their twenties they had the old ELP Lp to make them signed. I remenber that even a gentleman had come from Rome for having signed Keith autobiographical book. I asked him to sign the cd ELP IN CONCERT and the signature that you see in my channel's logo is just that. I thanked him of the music that he has given us and I asked him to shake his hand. He promptly and politely shooked his right hand with me, just six months ago. I was so happy a dream came true, I had met my idol. What sadness now. He has loved music more than his life. It wil be very difficult listening to Keith’s music from now on without thinking to his tragic end.

+keith moon Please don't feel sad when you listen to Keith's music. He was always a dynamic man, always doing exciting things like going fast on motorbikes or jet-skis or flying his airplane etc etc, so we're just lucky he didn't accidentally kill himself 40 years ago! There's a funny interview from 2002 when THE NICE did a tour, They describe an incident playing Rondo, where Keith vaults the organ and falls into the Opera-pit and the doorman won't open the door to let him back on stage. THAT could easily kill you. Remember frank Zappa got pushed and broke his leg (leaving it "shorter than the other one" like the song). I think maybe he was impulsive at the end but remember too that he'd battled pain a LONG time too and i KNOW that ain't fun. Well, Long goodbyes weren't his thing but he lived his life as well as anyone could, i reckon, and his music will always make me feel good and i hope it does for you also. LuvS

@@tarkus28 I had the extreme high honor of very briefly meeting Maestro Emerson back in May of 1988. He was touring with Carl Palmer and Robert Berry when they were known together as "3". Got his autograph and told him I really loved his music. ( Bet he never heard that before ! LOL ) He thanked me and then went inside the venue to get ready for the concert. I still have the ticket stub and the autograph, which over the years has faded somewhat but it is my most prized possession ! If there was ever a fire in my house it would be the first thing I grabbed on my way out the door. RIP "Fingers", and thanks again !

I believe this is the only recording of Keith playing Tarkus solo, on an acoustic grand. That alone makes this an important musical history document. I had hoped Keith would have put many of his great pieces to acoustic piano. To me, his loss, so tragic and unnecessary, hurts like no other.
@tarkus28

I don't know. He played on piano most of Tarkus with Greg Lake in 2010 during their tour that they had to interrupted for Keith's arm problems. Maybe somelse had filmeld that show. He miss us

I have a broadcast recording from around 2002 of Keith playing Eruption and Stones of Years on the piano with the John Dankworth Orchestra. Not sure whether it was an acoustic grand but certainly sounded like one.

"All right, I've got a bus to catch" - humble and amusing exit line. What a privilege it was to share the Earth with Keith Emerson. I hope he knows the outpouring of love and respect that have ensued his passing. His like shall never pass this way again.

WeAreAllOne ExceptForThatGuy Although Keith has obvious difficulties playing with his right hand, he still performs complicated pieces.. There are other videos you can see in my channel

+keith moon Hi, Keith, I've subscribed to your channel - what a treasure trove of great music! I was wondering, is your name in homage to Keith Moon, drummer extraordinaire? Like Keith Emerson, Keith Moon was one of a kind, an extraordinary musician and showman. I love to imagine the jam sessions in Heaven - I'm looking forward to join in when I get there!

Yes... I have watching videos and listening audios and you can recall since the 1994 hiatus, Keith had good and bad shapes and an awful falldown in 2009 just before the ELP one-concert reunion in 2010. Poor Keith

Emerson w out nerve damage on another level...his creative counterpoint and 20th century classical understandings ...much more sophisticated...other two were excellent...but Keith in his prime was a beast! Banks was a beautiful composer...

Watch Keith's right hand. You can tell he is losing ability because his ring and pinky fingers curl. Watch earlier performances when his right hand used all fingers equally well. This is so sad for me to watch as growing up Keith and ELP were big musical inspirations to me.

+Nancy S72 Hi. I can't speak Spanish. Are you saying that Keith was having to use his left hand to play parts he'd usually use his right hand? I noticed that once or twice in some concert footage about 1993 and onwards. What a hero! He still sounded great.
