One of my favorite solos of all time. Keith expressing pure, swinging joy and transcendence, using an old cornball tune as his unlikely vehicle.

What makes it cornball? Jazz tunes from the start started as showtunes.

A brilliant transcription of my favourite version of Bye Bye Blackbird of all -- Keith is hearing Miles in his right hand i think. Its one long melody... The way the solo builds is totally masterful - every chorus in the right place gradually climbing the register to the top keys at the end.

Lovely performance from Keith Jarrett here. Echoes of Wynton Kelly in it which surprised me since he is more often compared to Bill Evans. Thank you.

WOnderful work! This maybe my favourite Jarrett solo ever simply because you hear how incredibly melodic he is.That can't be learned. His 'aural memory' (as Miles called it) is perfect. More than anything its a great lesson in how to build a solo.Isn't it interesting how he gradually plays higher and higher in register until the end when hes right at the top of the keyboard.

What an excellent solo and transcription. Definitely some Wynton Kelly influence in there to my ears....

Wonderful! This whole CD is the jazziest and most raw of all his trio recordings. Paul Motian obviously brings something different. Also, the venue and smaller Steinway. The entire history of jazz piano is in this rendition! Thank you again.

Great work. I'm amazed how you could make out all those ghost notes in the left hand

Motian is incredible on this. I mean, they all are, but Motian steals this album

Keith said in the interview with Rick Beato that this tune was the most swinging he had ever heard Paul Motion play. It's an incredible track, they seem to be channeling Wynton Kelly Paul Chambers and Jimmy Cobb.

He just sticks in 2nds once in a while. I wonder if he made a mistake? Sounds OK.

It helps to bolster the bluesy effect he’s looking for in those passages of the solo. I doubt it’s a mistake if he did it so many times.
