Blame It On My Youth Recorded live in Tokyo, October 26, 1986 at Hitomi Memorial Hall. Keith Jarrett, piano Gary Peacock, double-bass Jack DeJohnette, drums
Keith the Legend. There will never be another. We don’t even make pianos the same anymore. Everything is going digital and plastic. The end of an era in human history.
I start my day every day watching this video. It gives me such a boost. Every now and then, all the pieces just seem to fall into place and a few minutes of perfection happens. I have 100's of favorite videos in my collection that I love to listen to; but this video for me goes deeper than just listening. Keith & Gary seem to be 100% connected to their instruments FEELING the music pass through their entire bodies, I am able to join their pleasure, by FEELING the music too---not just hearing it.
Nice to have this on video from Standards Il. I posted the audio earlier but there’s nothing like having the visual of the performance. Gary Peacock has passed. RIP Gary, and thank you for all the years of great music. Keith had a stroke a few years ago and isn’t currently able to play. Send well wishes to Keith!
Can someone tell me what the fragment from 7:35 could be reminding me of? I have some vague association with some anime soundtrack? Something by Satie?
Beautiful piece of art but does anyone else cringe at the cymbals at the end? Why do all drummers do it at the end of piano ballads? It sounds so cheesy
