I only began listening to modern country a couple of years ago and I'm kicking myself for not having gotten into it sooner. Why is country music reaching a wider audience? Because it's awesome, that's why.

For my thoughts here about country music and college recently well theres some tossup points. Having country music integrate into other genres is smart but the problem is those genres dont exist at the awards such as country pop, country grunge, country r&b, country synthpop, and etc. Because of this situation problem pple dont really know what kind of music their listening to and also instrumentation from each track is inconsistent from the genre that the artist is trying to make so therefore doesnt align with the awards. Also,I like the idea of country music expanding and I love Keiths strategies. Even though Keith transitioned to the full mode pop rock realm he knows how to make country music instrumentation wise and plus always having that banjo-fiddle with him. Years, always thought music was a happy place which it still is its just sad that the awards dont match with the album or genre instrumentation sound also musicians not knowing all their instruments like Keith sadly

Country music is like 80s rock now. I worked in Nashville studios for years and we've seen the trend for a decade now. Urban can play guitar yes but his songs are cowritten by up to 8 people and that's not uncommon. Either way the music is now mediocre. Guys like Cash, Jennings and Harried will not be seen again. Funny, how here in the US he talks like a Tennessee native but the fake accent disappears in Oz. He should just keep the Oz accent and forget trying too sound like us. Rather be an Aussie than an American these days by can't help where I was born.
