Rare demo that should be officially released like all the others. Though the song is upbeat, I feel sad for the main character being played by his new love. It's cruel messing with people's emotions only to leave them alone and confused, heartbroken as well.
(Yes, I realize I'm reading too much into this and it's just a song. I don't belong in bars, also.)
I couldn't find lyrics online, so I made my best guess in a few areas of which I was uncertain what Keith was saying.
Lyrics:
The sign said “Country Music,” and the parkin’ lot was full,
So I parked my truck and gave that southern Concord one more pull.
Then, I walked into that Texas bar; right away I saw.
Girl, it ought to be against the law.
Her smile said “Come on over,” so I grabbed a couple of beers,
And eased up to that fantasy I dreamed about for years.
I knew I was a goner when I looked into her eyes.
She asked if I can two-step, and I said, “No, but I can try.”
She taught me a new step: that old Texas two-step.
I thought Texas women were easy to please,
But somewhere about dawn, like a dream, she was gone.
That gal had Texas two-stepped out on me.
Now the sign says “Country Music,” and I’m learnin’ all the songs,
And my Texas Cinderella is wherever she belongs.
I seem to be the victim of a hit-and-run romance.
I think I’ve got a heartache, but at least I’ve learned to dance.
She taught me a new step: that old Texas two-step.
I thought Texas women, they were easy to please,
But somewhere about dawn, like a dream, she was gone.
That gal had Texas two-stepped out on me.
She taught me a new step: that old Texas two-step.
I thought Texas women, they were easy to please,
But somewhere about dawn, like a dream, she was gone.
That gal had Texas two-stepped out on me.
Yeah, somewhere about dawn, like a dream, she was gone.
That gal had Texas two-stepped out on me.
