+lightningshock12 you don't know what you're talking about. 1st the weight of her voice is too heavy and too big to sound lyrical (e.g. Latoya luckett). Her voice is more dramatic. Second, mezzos can sing high. Aretha in her day could sing these notes and she's a well known mezzo. You have to listen to the voice when she's singing runs. It's warm, dark, and lower than what a soprano would sing...that's tessitura. learn you some.

Sopranos tend not to have strong low notes. She's a mezzo with a big range. It's common for lower voices to have big ranges than for higher voices. Look at Mariah Carey, Betty wright,

Mariah Carey has never been a mezzo, she just has whistle range or should I say the ability to whistle. Had you say Chante', who's range is more vast then I would agree.. but on the other hand Kee Kee is from a different breed, where she is gifted from Tenor to soprano easily.. has the volume to pull off any section in a choir.. wouldn't be a strong tenor, but solid enough to be dependable. She would be comfortable in the alto section, but I garuntee, if she was too choose a section. She would be the "go to" soprano

+Perkins Jones I wasn't Mariah was a mezzo. My argument was that you can't use one's upper extension as a defining feature of their voice. kinda like (mezzo/altos) can sing soprano but very few sopranos if any can sing Alto/mezzo (I mean a soprano projecting a B2 is unheard of)...she's no longer a soprano. Also you have to pay attention to the quality of the sound. I love me some Keke and her upper is incredible BUT it's not as colorful/pretty as her middle and lower voice..also ease too. Maybe it's just her technique but she often access her upper voice with runs(anything above an A). she just can't hit the note strong in head voice like Patti. As someone who listens to opera daily, this is how I analyze voices. I could be wrong but I'm 95% she isn't a soprano. she's a mezzo with a big range, which again is more common for lower voices than higher ones.

Keke has range for sure, but Beyoncé’s control throughout her range is MUCH more extensive and precise from the bottom all the way to the top. If KeKe had Beyoncé’s technique she’d be EVEN more deadly than she already is.
