I completely agree. A lot of parents say that their lives were nothing compared to when they had kids and this is such a beautiful tribute to her baby.
Really! Till this day I follow her on her social media outlets 👄🙈 and this makes me love ❤️ even more! Plus she composes her own music?? Totally didn't know that! Hopefully is all true right ! 👄🙈😂
She's been ahead of her time *most* of the time. I'd say every album except for "Kelis Was Here" has ended up sounding a bit like stuff that came out 5-10 years later.
seeyoshirun That's the same with Janet Jackson's 2006 album. It was generic of the plastic R&B of the time, however, the plastic R&B from back then was HOT! anyway the outlandish outfit worn in the Lil Star video from the Kelis Was Here era was quite ahead of its time.
Without men no women you adopt because a man and woman didnt want that kid lol you dont need a man to be happy but men are half of why the world is the world :)
@@gianlucabovi4470 you absolutely can. They are taking your own DNA from bone marrow and creating artificial sperm to convince an egg it's fertilized which causes it to start splitting and forming and embryo. We've been doing this since 2004. You need to catch up www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5652933/
One of the best and most beautifully written dance tracks in the last 20 years. Her talent is just too big. She's THE queen. The music industry ignoring her because Naz had a tantrum is just ridiculous.
She is soooo underrated. She stays ahead of her time therefore gets overlooked and the copy cats come along later and do everything she did years before. Its sickening!
+Avid Learner I agree 100%, so many female artists today do NOW what she was doing BEFORE it "cool". That's the story of anyone ahead of their time.. its never appreciated.
Kelis is a tigress! She is the epitome of eclectic. Listen to the bridge. She's singing about how her child's existence brought forth a symphony of love and music. Through the sound of her child, she finally found an infinite source of love.
@@maladyamiss1461 He knows what you said, and it still doesn't make sense. As if 10 years ago people like Lady Gaga weren't dressing up in dresses made out of meat to get attention. Artists have been presenting themselves in ridiculous ways ever since pop became a thing, so what exactly made her ahead of her time?
it's the wig of an old woman....nose piercing is for bored people....nothing else to do and btw people have been sticking all sorts of shite thru their noses since the dawn of time ....read or even look at these things called 'books'
When i was walking recently with my 3 months old daugther in a wrap these words suddenly came to my mind: Before you, My whole life was acapella Now a symphony's The only song to sing. I remember when 1th time i have watched this video i though it was about the couple love, but the end with baby in the back destroyed the system. It was genius. 10 years ago I was impressed by the lyrics and finale of this video, currently as a mother I can feel the single word of this song in my heart. Unconditional love ❤️
I was wondering the same thing. Maybe it's even about both couple and mother love. Like, the love she has with her partner is what lead to her becoming a mom. Because it says "before you". And it could be before meeting her partner or before having a baby. Hmmm.... I really wonder. The baby in the sling really makes it seem like she's talking about mother love. I agree with that. I just wonder if it's mother love via meeting her partner. Hmmm... Could it be both?
I was walking, was living My melody was acapella There's a beat I was missing No tune, or a scale, I could play No sound in the distance No orchestra playing together Like a boat out to sea The silence was too deafening So come and revive me I can't feel my heartbeat It's just me surviving alone Before you My whole life was acapella Now a symphony's The only song to sing Before you My whole life was acapella Now a symphony's The only song to sing Everything was the same One color was just like the others An assembly routine My memories were all black and white Till I stopped over-thinking Decided to draw back the curtains And I cleared all the cobwebs And began to let in the light So come and revive me I can't feel my heartbeat It's just me surviving alone Before you My whole life was acapella Now a symphony's The only song to sing Before you My whole life was acapella Now a symphony's The only song to sing You are the drum in my heart beat Bass and guitar lead Stuck on the notes you play My heart that you play on Grab like a crayon I can't walk away You are the drum in my heart beat Bass and guitar lead Stuck on the notes you play My heart that you play on Grab like a crayon I can't walk away You are the drum in my heart beat Bass and guitar lead Stuck on the notes you play My heart that you play on Grab like a crayon I can't walk away Before you My whole life was acapella Now a symphony's The only song to sing Before you My whole life was acapella Now a symphony's The only song to sing Before you My whole life was acapella Now a symphony's The only song to sing Before you My whole life was acapella Now a symphony's The only song to sing
if she had put out this song during the past 3 years....it would had been all over the airwaves since more and more pop/house music is being played nowadays
@@internaut4257 I agree with you it's just dance music has been around in the rest of the world a long time .and like I siad in another comment the usa came late to it
Kelis is certainly one of my favorite female singer of all time. His music, from his debut, has always been original and inovative and her voice can can cover à large spectrum. Just hear the difference when singing this one and the different tone on "trick me"... Yep like her music really reflects her personnality. Original and full of colors. Sincere. Thanks Kelis.
I love that Kelis has evolved over the years, she's so demure now compared to her milkshake days. It appears some people are complaining about this?! Even though she's not main stream, she has a loyal fan base. That says a lot. & she's a natural beauty! Geez!!!
I can't believe this came out ten years ago, this is still one of my favorite songs and album. I remember being 19 sneaking into the club to go see her perform this album, it was honestly amazing
I love this song so much, it made me feel nostalgic from the get go, but now it feels even more that way since 2010 was so long ago, but feels like yesterday, crazy!
I remember vividly when I first listened to the song in 2010, I knew it was a song that was unique and definitely ahead of its time. It will forever remain timeless!
