Kellie-Jay Keen says common sense is prevailing after Depp vs Heard

Closing remarks in Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s multimillion-dollar defamation lawsuit ended with both sides urging jurors to think about other victims of domestic abuse.
Ms Heard’s legal team highlighted the message that a verdict in Mr Depp’s favour would send to others, while the actor’s representatives said her claims were “an act of profound cruelty to true survivors”.
The actor is suing his former partner over a 2018 article she wrote in the Washington Post, which was titled: “I spoke up against sexual violence - and faced our culture’s wrath. That has to change.”
The article does not mention Mr Depp by name, yet his lawyers say it falsely implies he physically and sexually abused the Aquaman actress while they were together.
Following six weeks of evidence, which has seen testimony from both Mr Depp and Ms Heard as well as individuals including British supermodel Kate Moss, jurors have now been sent out to consider their verdict.
Feminist Kellie-Jay Keen reacts to Douglas Murray's recent piece in The Times where he suggests that the public trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard marks the end of the #MeToo era.

It's not only men who have to think about the situation women are in, surely women also have to think about their own safety. I see young girls coming out of pubs absolutely rotten drunk, really short dresses on and can't put one foot in front of the other, they are putting themselves into harm's way. We all know it doesn't matter what women wear, how drunk they are, they should feel safe however, sometimes we all have to take responsibility for our own safety, and getting rotten drunk and walking home alone is not being responsible, because we know perpetrators look for vulnerability.

I would agree, I was taught as a young girl how to look after myself, don’t get yourself in a state don’t accept drinks from men you don’t know, don’t go back to any mans house, because he’s not about to show you his stamp collection etc.

With a million immigrants this last year and more coming it is not so obvious to everyone that unnwanted touching is assault. Mike Graham seems oblivious to this and assumes everyone has his sense of morality.

I cant agree that common sense is emerging! The latest nonsense by the Police College is to recommend that Rape Victims are not cross examined. In essence this is a return to the “must be believed” era. It is a tenant of British common law that an accused has a right to a fair trial and full disclosure! We have instances of women crying wolf, we see accused being paraded to the mob before any investigation! Rape is vile but it has to be treated as an offence compatible with any other transgression of the law!

Then dragged her to the US to a televised trial to repeat repeat she'd said in a closed court in the UK, because she didn't want it to be made public. He used the courts to continue to abuse her. He's the exact example of why they want to stop allowing cross examining of women subjected to rape by these men.

Unfortunately, on JD vs AH, this is where Kellie is incorrect. Common sensec would tell you AH is the vicktem. She should know what it's like to be on the receiving end of a media campaign constructed to reverse offender and vicktem.
@ashbash635
@ashbash635 Год назад
Unfortunately you are the one who is incorrect. If you research this case all the way back to the beginning and all the public records and evidence is available online. Research it properly and you will find AH was a toxic narcissist who verbally, physically and mentally abused JD. She then launched a public campaign where she misrepresented herself as a victim. There are provable demonstrative lies from beginning to end from AH. There is a wealth of evidence that prove Depp was physically attacked and ended up in hospital and AHs own words prove her abusive behavior. Men can be victims too.

@verityledner3927

Come on are we not going to talk about the elephant in the room. We have to have signs tell people about touching because we have people from other parts of the world living in the UK that see women as second class citizens, in their little brains women should all be grateful for their attention. I've actually made a real fuss on the tube when this has happened to me in the past. Thankfully I'm old and fat now so it's not happened for a while. 🤣🤣🤣

The approach most often taken by the police now is the line of least resistance. Charge and let the courts decide. I think that's the only way they can navigate their duty in investigating often delicate situations but it's clearly got its risks in terms of potential miscarriages of justice.

Common sense is prevailing in the Depp vs Heard case. It's time that all abusers be held accountable regardless if male or female and in this case it happens to be a woman who abused a man. It happens. It's ridiculous to think women cannot be abusers.
@sheilaoreilly6826
@sheilaoreilly6826 Год назад
It's also ridiculous to think women are a significant group of abusers when the data shows men are consistently in the high 80% to high 90% of perpetrators of domestic violence and sexual assault/rape across most, if not all, countries in the world.

This has reminded me of the modern remake of Alice in Wonderland. It exemplifies the current obsession of sexualising everything. There was many shots of barely restrained heaving bussom, bum shots, adult sighing and more. If you want to watch porn, just watch it, but don't make everything sexual! Alice in Wonderland WAS a charming imaginative adventure purely to delight children, leave it alone!

Posey Parker is a jokey play-on-words online handle derived from “nosey parker”. I’ve seen it cause a bit of confusion with some because it resembles the name of the American actress Parker Posey. Whether she initially used it because of the sensitivities surrounding her activism or simply because a colourful pseudonym is common practice online, I can’t say.
