The kid Joey who pulled the gun out on me was eventually murdered by the bay Parkway kids. They killed him on bay 16th street and Shore parkway. They left him in our neighborhood to make it look like the Bath Ave boys killed him.
Great story, Jimmy. I'm a little older than you, came from the Lower East Side and we always regarded Bensonhurst as a major step up socially, but I guess things aren't all they seem. Very happy you were able to turn your life around. Not many people get a second chance in life.
My aunt and grandma & my cousins lived on 12th ave in Dyker heights. Eventually moved to Staten Island. I’m from Orange County California. I loved going to Dyker heights at Christmas. You know the famous house decorations at Christmas? Loved Bensonhurst too it’s literally next door. Good childhood memories. ❤️
My families stomping ground wasn’t far from bath ave and it was a very bad area. Coney Island w16th street between hart place and Neptune avenue. Right by totonnos

I dont know how to say this correctly Jim but I do know that feeling you are relaying,. I had those same experiences and it made me not fear ANYTHING outside our neighborhood, I would walk into any neighborhood after being trained to know people, i would walk into Brooklyn basements and South Bronx buildings making deals with savages who would not think twice to whackin me but they did those deals and made those relationships with me knowing I was a serious fucker too and would put them down as well Another life and Time. Thank God i survived and he rewarded me with a new life I live today.
you ever hang out in Brownsville? my dad raised on Pitkin and Junius. pretty rough neighborhood. been there a couple times just to see where he was raised and felt the tension in the air.
