In the low notes, I prefer Beyonce's fuller overall sound. In mid belts, just depends on the listener which tone they prefer. But Eb5 and above, I prefer Kelly's more open and brighter sound, and it's also more controlled. It just sounds SO good! In hv, both are amazing but I prefer Beyonce's hv more. I dunno but for me it sounds more developed(?) Amazing video as always!
Im gonna differ a little bit from the rest of the comments: Lows: Beyoncé Mid belts: both (but Kelly’s my personal favorite) Upper Belts: Kelly Head voice: Beyoncé 😬 (sorry but I think her control and support are just a little superior and I like the tone of her head voice better) Overall favorite: Kelly (she’s my favorite voice 😌🤩)
Beyonce takes the lows and mid-belts, Kelly takes the upper belts, and the head voice is a tie. Beyonce's lower-to-middle area is extremely powerful, while Kelly's voice blooms more as she ascends...which makes sense, given their respective voice types (mezzo vs. soprano). One thing I will say that makes it difficult to compare is that Beyonce uses a ton of reverb, which makes her voice sound constantly ENORMOUS, whereas Kelly mostly uses a dry mic. If Beyonce used less reverb we could judge her voice's natural power a little better. Overall though, I do think Bey is the slightly superior vocalist...she can pull some pretty insane, hyper-flexible tricks. Kelly is a bit more of a straight-singer.
@@Them-x4p no offense, but that's borderline insane. Kelly's 3rd octave notes have like half the volume and sound way too light. Making faces while singing with your full voice in the lower or higher extremities is completely normal as well...

Lol just the first note, youre already dead wrong. Kelly’s C#3 is nowhere near beyonce’s more grounded and rounded note. Kelly did good as soprano, she had to lower her larynx to hit that low. But Beyonce is a mezzo, its not even a comparison.
I have to give it to Beyonce. Although BOTH of these ladies are the best vocalist from their generation and even currently honestly. I have to give it to Bey for 2 reasons. She really doesn't have a weak register. From the bottom of her range to the very top, everything is damn near flawless. A literal vocal technician. Kelly clearly took upper belts. A true soprano. And they went toe to toe for mid belts. But again, I give Bey the slight edge because she she's a mezzo keeping up easily with a soprano all the up till F5. Crazy.
While Kelly is a Soprano, and Beyonce is a Mezzo-Soprano, I'd say Bey wins, overall. Her voice is just stronger. Even when Kelly begins to sound good in her upper range, she still doesn't have much volume output. She also lacks the stability in her low notes and overall agility that Beyonce has. Beyonce's voice is more distinctive -- but Kelly's voice is more versatile.
Bey sounds stronger than kelly is a big joke, Kelly's voice has cut through an orchestra, while your fave lipped the same day, having a mid sized vocal Kelly has overpowered Ariana, and she even drowned fantasia on their duet. and has withstand singing with singers like Martina McBride, Reba, Trisha yearwood etc. nice try

Hence why she took her ear piece out in order to hear herself. Why would she need to take her ear piece out if she was lip syncing ? It's kinda funny how these two used to be lumped together with Christina, but they've both completely outpaced and outgrown her in recent years. Kelly and Beyonce are both some of the best vocalists we have right now
Sigh. Christina's voice was so hurly burly and low even when she was in like her early 20s. She was fighting so hard to achieve just normal female chest notes, not even super high belts, and now that she's older she sings mostly in the range of baritone other than when she's in her head voice. Still a great singer with a phenomenal tone and EXTRAORDINARY understanding of dynamics, but her voice type caught up to her eventually.
I don't know why you guys like to find any means to discredit Beyoncé. @@carshe209Kelly isn’t doing excessive tours all over the world, for hours and hours and hours on end. Pay attention to why the great lipsync. And Beyonce only lipsyncs for specific situations like during rigorous (over the top) dance routines.
This is really tough. They’re both so good in very different ways. With the exception of some really low mezzos, it’s hard to find a woman with better lows than Beyoncé. Kelly’s are very nice, but she’s a true high soprano, and it shows here. I’ll give mid belts to Kelly because her chesty mix allows her to retain so much depth tonally. They’re both so good here though. I’ll give upper belts to Kelly too. Beyoncé naturally has the edge in low notes, so Kelly naturally has the edge in higher chest notes. Kelly’s barely making an effort up to G5. She’s just full sending it with great breath support. Beyoncé probably cant get away with that, so she mixes A LOT more. This just means Kelly once again has a richer tone. Kelly has such a nicely supported head voice, but I can only name like 3 people with a head voice as good as Beyoncé’s. Bey’s head voice is so well controlled, so well developed, and so consistent. Beyoncé is seriously one of the few people that can contend with Kelly. I have no idea why people randomly say she’s as bad as Jennifer Lopez. I’m so sorry girl. 😭

Kelly easily on the upper belts. I think one thing is that since Kelly’s voice is higher overall she can full belt and have better resonance that much is very obvious. But the other part is that when she’s feeling up for going up for a G5+ she makes it sound very “easy”. Beyonce either by choice or necessity adds more “drama” to the performance which is part of what makes her beyonce. Kelly doesn’t go for those kinds of theatrics, she literally stands and delivers and I think it feels more understated because of that. I think it’s partially why she gets overlooked because her belts are insanely higher and fuller sounding than pretty much everyone but she just makes it look so easy
I completely understand what you’re saying and it’s okay that you prefer Kelly but you seem to downplay Beyoncé’s talent to “theatrics” and seem to imply that she can’t do what Kelly does. As a singer, reducing what she does to just “theatrics” is unfair and simply attempting to replicate it tells you that it is no mean feat.
It's very crazy how Kelly's lows are from recent times when that place of her voice is more developed and Bey's from years ago are more resonant and supported
I love both of their voices. So polished and every performance is amazing. I will say I prefer Beyonce just because to me, she’s the whole package. A true entertainer, dancer, vocal beast. And I prefer her music.

I love them both and they are 2 of the greatest singers ever. Let’s also note that most of Beyonces upper clips were old AND from world tours (wear and tear vs rested vocals)
@@doctorits when you’re on tour, voices can get tired vs a lot of Kelly’s clips are from her show which mostly likely means she rested and she can record multiple takes before posting.

There are a lot of people in the thread remarking on register. Register is nothing without agility and I believe Beyonce's singing in a lower register is a style choice. She started going for a more full-bodied sound starting in her 4 era and I think it gave her a more robust huskier tone that commands more presence and allows one to be more agile. Also, it's important to note that lower registers work better for touring which Beyonce does more of. However, whenever this practice of comparing artists comes up I always judge an artists on their AGILITY along with the range. There are performances that Beyonce has done vocally that Kelly simply could not do agility wise; runs, variance in volume, vibrato, traversing between voices, etc. This along with doing it many times while dancing, and her cultural significance is what makes her the master of this current pop generation. I'll note some specific performances of Beyonce's which Kelly could not do. 5. OTR II Resentment 4. MTV Lemonade Medley 3. Live at City of Hope Gala 2. Stevie Wonder Tribute Medley 1. Beautiful Ones - Glastonbury I like Kelly but she is not in the same stratosphere as Beyonce in vocal technique. Range yes. But technique. NO!
@@doctorits I know it well. It's good. But it's not at Beyonce's level. I stand by the performances of Beyonce I pointed out. Kelly couldn't replicate those performances vocally. It's nothing against her. I think she is a fantastic performer but it is what it is.

Beyoncé is overall better to me based on fullness of her lows and I love her mid belts, agility, and versatility of her voice (I also prefer her tone and vibrato) but these two are the BEST vocalists out. I kills me that Kelly is hardly ever in the convos that I see when she’s literally better than everyone else they talk about. They try to play like Beyoncé isn’t one of the greatest but they can’t back that up. I would love a Collab from them
Kelly is a great belter and has such an amazing voice to truly keep up with and at times surpass Beyonce. I thought Beyonce was the queen of vibrato(she is) but Kelly has a great one as well.

Someone can technically “sing” but you may or may not connect with or feel anything about it when they do. Personal preference does weigh in here, as well as what/how their singing makes you feel. Singing is about more than just perfectly hitting the notes. It’s also supposed to connect with people. I prefer Kelly any day of the week, but I’m not saying anything bad about Bey. They can both technically sing very well. That’s why some of this does come down to personal preference, if they can both blow! And yes, part of what people do or don’t gravitate towards, with a singer, is their tone.

The selections for could have been better, especially when she has so many professional recorded tours(i am vegas concert, i am world tour, Mrs carter world tour and The formation world) and live performances to select from. Beyonce is my pick, she had the fuller voice , with a fully connected range from top to bottom.
it’s just reverb lol. it’s something that she’s played around with since Destiny’s Child whenever she sustains notes..but that’s why I also included clips of her hitting the same note WITHOUT reverb so no one can say she relies on it. it’s just a stylistic choice and for extra dramatics.

However these days, I think she has a lot more accessibility to her belts Eb5 and above than Beyoncé and I’ll give her that, but in the video we saw a mostly younger Beyoncé that still had lots of ease up there. The belts lower than that are close to a tie, but I give them to Beyoncé because she’s a mezzo and they’re more beefy in her voice.

Beyoncé's mezzo nature makes her voice more robust here Mid Belt: Tie: They both took certain notes Upper belt: Kelly - Here Kelly's soprano nature started to shine from F5 up. Far more ease and ability to sustain Head voice: Beyoncé dominated here. More agility and development here and arguably a more textured and interesting tone in this area than Kelly.
Kelly makes it look so damn easy, while Beyoncé looks like she’s fighting for her life a lot of the times 😭 Kelly’s F#5s are out of this world! So glad you included that new F#5 :P

I don’t know if it’s just me but i loved some of Beyonce’s higher belts than kelly’s especially Eb5-F#5. It’s not as sustained as Kelly’s but her vibrato + the high note just gets me every single time. For low notes = Beyonce; mid belts = Beyonce; high = Kelly; headtone = both are great but Beyonce for me. Her headtone sounds sooooo crisp and soulful
Beyonce took every register based solely on the selected clips. I believe Kelly is the better belter in general, albeit less consistent. Kelly has much greater HV feats than these. Like light years better. If properly shown, she could've tied and potentially slighted Bey. But anyway, it's always fun seeing these two against each other. Idk what it is, but these 2 against each other is the most entertaining to see.
Bey took the low register, but on belts or modal register? She took the lows, they tied at the mids, and Kelly smashes her at the upper parts and this isn't even Kelly's best belts, because if I am going to use Kelly's belts Beyonce will look pathetic, and if you notice Bey's Echo and Reverb effect just meh 🤣
@doctorits The A naturals in Meaning of Life. Bb5 is one her best HV notes. Some standouts are Feeling Good, Angel of Mine, or Another Sad Love Song. The B5s in I Don't Think About You. Georgia on My Mind had a really great and well executed C6. I'd use the Walk Away D6 from Good Morning America. Her pitch is far more centered than the ones you've been using. Eb6? The Whole Lotta Woman performance on Jimmy Fallon. Excellent pitch, projection and ease.
Beyonce is the best, nobody can ever top her. She has that special magic in her voice. Kelly is also amazing and has such incredible technique and talent but for the sake of comparison I prefer Beyonce's voice every time but it all comes down to preference they are the masters of their voice!
These vocal battle videos make me so annoyed Beyoncé is in hiding post-4 era☠️ a great battle, but like 80% of these are cell phone videos for Beyoncé vs. Clean televised clips for Kelly. Not your fault or accusing you of bias or anything, but man it sucks that Bey doesn't do televised performances and barely even releases her own footage to anything anymore.
People in the comments are delusional lol. People saying the first A5 in head voice going to Kelly is just beyond riddiculous. And not giving the mid belts up to F5 to Beyonce equally riddiculous. Beyonce is not just slightly better technically, they are not even close. Even Pink has better technique than Kelly.

@@crystalvocals Beyonce's F5 are way clearer and deeper. What are you talking about? Pink has better lows, better midbelts and better belts in general and better headvoice than Kelly. Kelly has very bad belting techinque and terrible headvoice. Are you people deaf? Kelly lack's pharingeal resonance all thoughout her voice, she sounds like a child for how underdeveloped her voice is without any depth.
@@Ignasimp I kinda agree. She's good, but has a sorta ariana grande-like approach, just with a larger voice than her naturally. The sound is quite thin and heady, particularly now that she's older. Iirc she was having some vocal issues a few years back, so she might've made a technical change a la Aretha when she started singing with a much more heady sound post-cigarette effects. I think Céline did this too in her ~40s as well...
Bey is a mezzo with coloratura abilities, she supposed to be better than kelly at low register (yes 100%) and middle modal voice but Kelly destroys her on that area, more voluminous, more weightiness and more agile than bey could only dream of, and on the upper register no brainer Kelly's tessitura is higher. She drags bey on that area too. Your fave couldn't even belt past Eb5 without staccatoing her ass up! And most of her notes above E are peaks while Kelly's are sustained and with vibrato. Bey could never ever touch Kelly on the 5th octave.
Beyoncé is one of the only singers that is better than Kelly and even then it's not like she just completely washes her Kelly can hold on with Beyoncé with no problem and if it wasn't for Beyoncé's insane vocal agility her and Kelly would be neck and neck
Kelly’s much more diverse, technically sound, and has a higher range. They are both in their 40’s now yet Kelly is still a comfortable soprano which is amazing. I love Beyonce but her voice def has declined where Kelly is arguably still peaking in form.

Beyonce has had children MULTIPLE times, not only that, she has had miscarriages, and all this has affected her hormonally. Which is why her voice is lower than it used to be and even then, it’s not by much at all. The current quality of her voice is quite literally the best it has EVER been.

@@connor8099 Beyonce used to have a much higher range. Now her range has diminished (which is ok, it happens). She doesn’t sing songs in these higher keys anymore because she can’t. Kelly has better technique than Beyonce that’s just a fact. Beyoncé is an A rated singer for sure but Kelly is just beyond.
