I've seen Kelly with Foreigner a few times and he is probably one of the best lead singers to take over from a legend. He's the reason Foreigner has lasted as so long. Replacing Lou Gramm was no easy task and Kelly seamlessly stepped in.
Just got back from the concert in Bend, OR. I saw Foreigner years ago with Lou Gramm, so I was interested to see how this group would sound. It was amazing! Kelly Hansen really does justice to the songs and is a great entertainer to boot!
I saw Foreigner in 2012 at our County Fair in Turlock,Ca. Stanislaus County Fair. No warm up bands. It was 2 hours of Foreigner with Kelly. I had yet to see him, but I was overly impressed. I got there really early. Back to the days of $20.00 General Admission tix. I was there two hours early. There were like 5 people just hanging out, and it was July, so very warm. Out of nowhere. They all come out to do a sound check. They did Double Vision twice. From the top as if they were live. Again, I was truly taken back. Mick was there. So, that unique guitar speed, and sound Mick knows so well was with them this night. A+++ show in the 2 bd row. Kelly was 40 feet in the air of the stages left Stage brace. Hanging off it, and rocking like Kelly does, and can very well. That was my into to Mr. Kelly Hansen. To me, the band was, and is better with Kelly. I am now 59, so my first ever show was Van Halen Fair Warning tour in Oakland,California 1981. True compliment to Foreigners music.
personally I think Kelly is a better fit "live" with Foreigner...... more of a showman..he has done great service to Foreigner, and the one and only album of original material they did with him, was at least equal in standards to the best of Gramms material. Crying shame they havent bothered their asses to do any more orig material material with Kelly.... I listened transfixed.... he tells his story real well.....................
Saw them in pikeville ky a couple years ago getting ready to see them again sept 23rd in Charleston wv. On their farewell tour. Cant wait...Kelly really puts on a great live on stage
They talk about Foreigner selling 80 million. How many of those were sold with Kelly as the lead singer? How many hit songs did they have with Kelly on lead vocals? It's nice that he's carrying on the music of Foreigner, but they're simply a good cover band.
@@brendafordyce5696 Comparing Kelly to a legendary lead singer like Lou is beyond laughable. You keep living in your delusion. He has no rock quality to his vocals whatsoever. He can sing the ballads OK, but nothing more.
