This show really made me lose ALOT of respect for Kelly Price! Beautiful voice, but her personality as a person... baby if this is her for real, I can see why she's not relevant today! Im pretty sure she's burned many bridges in Hollywood and outside of it! Disgusted by this lady!!

Kandi Burress and Tiny have more money than their fellow Xscape members because they wrote songs for themselves and other artists. En Vogue relied on songwriters and they must be paid first and therefore En Vogue had no leverage over the label. Britney Spears relied on songwriters BUT she would tour nonstop so her earning potential went up due to ticket sales so unless you can sell out like Britney then you're stuck.

I miss when reality TV was authentic like this. I really enjoyed this show back in the day. As for Dawn...I can't stand her because she's a grown woman but has the mentality of a child. She's irresponsible, lies and always has a million excuses. What happened in this episode is the reason that I never liked working in groups. When you're in a group, everyone is relying on each other and I'm not a big fan of reliance. I also don't like for people to get credit for things that they put little effort into and that's what tends to happen while working in a group.
I'm in the minority but I don't have a problem with Dawn's choice. We saw a snippet of a reality show but she wasn't disrespectful when making herself heard, she followed her intuition and acted accordingly. I think that Lil Mo showed a lack of decorum and disrespect regarding Dawn's personal choice. I didn't hear a mention of contractual obligations and adults are entitled to change their minds even if it disappoints other people.

Dawn annoys me to no end.....Always had so much potential but too chicken**** to stick with anything. She tries to paint herself as the "rebel" of the group, but really she just gave the hell up. I think it's pretty clear. She leaves when ish gets tough. Her solo career wasn't earth-shattering ,either. She really should have just stuck it out with En Vogue. I know she talks about how bad it was but let's be realistic, unless you were an avid "Vibe" reader back in the day, it was a slim to none chance you knew this girl had a solo album out after she left Lucy Pearl. Whether anyone actually listened to it is an entirely different story. I don't think she would be any worse off with En Vogue than she has been in the last 20 years, and if anything, if she stayed with it, she probably would have been able to build herself up through it more than she has as a "solo artist". Sometimes you just have to work it from that angle. But based on her career history and even her own words, Dawn does not give me the impression that she is a patient woman, and I get the feeling she chases things that continue to elude her as far as her career goes. I don't think Dawn ever figured out that you have to make a name for yourself first to get to the top. Dawn always complained about not making the big bucks right off the bat, but even with the success that En Vogue had up to the point that she left, they weren't exactly headlining sellout arenas. An audience has to be built up. I know things are a bit different today with the internet, but back in 1990 when En Vogue made their debut, an artist had to build a fan base and it grew over time. Even if she had stayed longer and tried to go solo a little later on, it might have worked out better than it did, she might have been able to get a better team of people behind her once she was bigger, but she always abandons everything right as it's picking up steam. She was so caught up in what she didn't have she didn't even consider what could be. What kind of future could she possibly have had as an artist if she stayed with the group and followed through on the Elektra contract? The show itself could have been a valuable platform for her and she could've maybe parlayed that into something else later on down the line. She could've stayed, but she was scared of getting on Kelly's bad side so she bounced. And bounced off to what you may ask? Last I heard, she was bashing Terry Ellis, Cindy Herron and Rhona Bennett for some En Vogue Christmas movie they did for Lifetime in 2015, talking about how she was gonna "sue" them, to any internet tabloid who would listen. She was also quoted as saying "They aren't the real En Vogue." Keep in mind this is the same group that she opted to leave at the height of their career. At this point, in my opinion, the "real" En Vogue is whoever has the cojones to stick with the project, because it certainly wasn't Dawn, and it doesn't sound like Maxine Jones will be returning anytime soon, either. Let's also keep in mind that the R&B Divas paycheck was well-dried up for Dawn by 2015, and this is the best publicity she could muster up after her TV debut. I mean, even Courtney Love can at least get on "Late Night" for crying out loud. It's very clear where Dawn's priorities lie, if you can even call them priorities. Meanwhile, those three (The Not-real according to Dawn En Vogue), were getting paid while Dawn Robinson was sitting on the sidelines talking about some old shit that happened in 1992. Tbf each of their voices is super distinct… Max & Cindy (not Sydney 😅) have really unmistakeable tones, especially in certain registers, & were actually cast in the group first. Ironically Terry & Dawn’s voices are both the biggest/most powerful, but are also the most similar in range & timbre, which was why the group’s creators were trying to decide between those two until deciding to keep both & make the group a quartet, not a trio. But all four singers have unique & magnificent instruments that when put together made the magic of EV. There’s no one person responsible for that.
