Hi Friends! If you would like to explore more of what Rock Springs Run has to to offer, you’ll want to check out my video going over kayaking and canoeing from Kings Landing here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-O8WdX2mcozA.html If you would like to check out more beautiful springs here in Florida, I’ve got an entire playlist for you: ru-vid.com/group/PLAUyBjCcwiehRAbWNNiMkcGRF6fd-ytrQ
I've lived in Orlando since 1947 and my family visited Rock Springs in the early 1950's several times every summer through the late 1950s. We brought our own innertubes. We parked under the oak and pine trees. Mom always set out a table full of food while we started at the spring head and floated down to the first landing. Mom and dad always had their Miller High Life beer and we drank Grapette soda. There was no admission fee, no paved parking lot and mostly very few people. We considered the park busy or crowded if there were 50 other people at the springs. I can't say the park is better now with all the people but it was best during the days of "Wild Florida and Rock Springs." Very nice and informative video.
The quality of your videos is always stunning and well put together. I can’t wrap my head around why your channel doesn’t have more subscribers and views than it does. Keep doing great work!
Can you please 🙏 do a video about the how many snakes and alligators you typically see at the different parks. I would like to visit but would like an idea of what wildlife you saw. Thank you for these amazing videos ❤.
Nice having a video review here in home town. Thanks for making it happen & looks like you had fun. Thumbs up! P. S. Just sent your youtube link to friends in Canada, namely Ontario.
Thank you so much for sharing my videos, Philthy McNasty! I had an amazing time at this park…it was a lot of fun to film, even with getting stuck on the weeds! 😆
@@ChrissaTravels I saw, thanks 😃👍🏻 that was a great video too! I haven’t been to universal in a couple months but definitely made me want to get back there ASAP 😄
@@dkingston9946 lol…oh yay! I’m so glad you saw! 😁 haha….yes!! The new minions area will officially open soon! It would be a good excuse to come back! 😆
Please keep doing what you're doing. I live in Palm Beach, FL, and never knew these places existed. Please do best hiking trails with dogs in different counties. Also, best dog friendly places.😊
Yes! I would love a video about dog friendly springs. We have a golden retriever who adores the water and so many of these parks are not dog friendly, but the rivers/runs are.. adding those details would really help. Love your content!
This was great, thanks for making this video. I found it so helpful, I’m someone who likes to plan and know what to expect. I’ll be visiting FL next month and would like to visit a natural spring. I’m watching your videos to help me decide. And thank you for addressing the concerns about alligators, I feel like every non Floridian worries about that (that would be me!)
That is a popular place !! The Lazy River looks so relaxing. Just be careful of the weeds. 😂 Looks like a fun place to spend the day. If your one of the first 280 cars.
Man, we must have gotten lucky when we went. There was no line and less than a hundred people there the day we went...but we also went in early October. Still warm for us midwestern folks, but probably too cold for native Floridians :)
Is it possible to park somewhere else and just walk yourself to the spring through nature? Not asking about this to avoid paying fees, but simply because it would be potentially way more interesting doing a trail than sitting in a car at 5am on the side of a highway waiting to enter
You might also include in your videos whether or not they have a campground or there are campgrounds outside the park. Many of us dont live close enough to drive there within a few hours. I live in Pompano now, was born in Ft. Lauderdale and would need to know about campgrounds to visit many of our state parks. Thanks for what you do. Enjoyed the video and subscribed. 8)
Hi BigFireDave! Thank you so much for the suggestion! I will have to make sure that we include that in the future! We do most of the time, but I completely forgot to include it on this video! I’m so sorry! Kelly Park does have campgrounds by the way! ☺️
The campground at Kelly park is really nice, neat & clean bathrooms. It’s off to the side of the main entrance, so many people don’t realize it’s there. The spring area parking lot of Kelly is huge, tons of picnic tables, trees, etc. absolutely gorgeous.
Thank you for this video, this park is so beautiful. 5am is really an early morning. May I ask it was a weekday or weekend on your visiting? I'm gonna making a plan.
Hi last time i went i got in line at 6:30am on a Saturday. I was about the 20th car in line. Might have been just my luck. I'm going again this Sep 1st.
Hi! I am just waiting for the Minions Villain Con ride to open up so I can get footage of that and drop it in the video! We were hoping it would open these last few weeks, but there must be a delay.
Can anyone tell me how to get to the head of the spring? Last time I went we parked by the big pool area which apparently is “middle” of the lazy River. Is there a trail you have to walk to get to the start of the lazy River ? I’ve watched a few videos and no one seems to show this part 😭😭😭
Hi Kiyana! It’s the trail that is right next the concession stand. You should be able to see a sign with arrows on it. If you’re facing the concession stand walking up from the swimming area, it’s the trail that runs to the left of the concession stand.
I was so close to falling in love with this until you mentioned the gators 😂! I was like..."Really Chrissa?" LOL but I still want to visit ❤! Have to plan a weekend trip where I'm driving down. 🤦🏽I don't know how I feel about the 5 O'Clock arrival lol but I would get over it.
Lol…..aww….sorry!! 😂 it’s a question I get all too often so I thought I would answer. Yeah, it is definitely a challenge to get in if you try to go during peak season. I’ll have to check in August. It may slow down a bit since the kids will be back in school!
@@ChrissaTravels no worries! I won't have my car in August so I was thinking January or February but not sure if they're open year round 🤔! I need to squeeze it in somehow so I can say I was living on the edge lol!
Since it’s a slow season, I think you’re safe in December! ☺️ You can probably just drive in later in the morning…especially during the week since it’s too cold for most locals.
We went on Dec23. The warmest day of our visit at around 1030am. Not too much ppl in the morning and start getting busier afternoon. We had a blasted swimming and kayaking. So much fun and saw some wild animals. Thx. t@ChrissaTravels
Hey there! Kelly Park is really great about checking the water and making sure it is safe before they start letting guests in. Of course it is still natural waterways, so there is always a chance, but I have been several times and have never had an issue.
I grew up in Apopka in the 70's. Rock springs or Wekiva was never crowded, did not cost anything, did not have vendors, restaurants. No lines to get in. No giant parking lot, cell phones, hoodlums or gangs. You brought your own charcoal, hotdogs, burgers, etc. I feel sorry for todays youth. 99% of the folks back then were not fat and lazy. I miss them days.
