Wow! I didn’t know that they didn’t like each other. They were so good on camera together. I could maybe understand that if they didn’t like each other around the time Michael left the show, but I thought Kelly was being really selfish and entitled towards Michael over that whole thing.
@@AJXOXO-vz1pn I think primarily she felt betrayed by the company she had been working for the last 20 years at the time, and I think she felt personally betrayed by Michael on a friend ship level that he would not have shared this with her before going out live.
I was on Kelly’s show right before Michael left. She was so rude and entitled while Michael stopped backstage, chatted with the guests, and took photos while Kelly was complaining , pointing her fingers at people, and being angry. Michael chose to quit his job and leave, just like so many of us do. He owed nothing to anyone else, it was HIS career decision and kelly is a narcissist.
Yeah agreed, same with Ryan and Regis as well as with Michael, she sucks and it will be interesting to see how the show changes with her spouse with her now, although he does seem much nicer.
@@apropst5867 He got an opportunity. He told everyone a few weeks before he left. When opportunities come like that, you don't kiss but for 6 months simply to make someone else "feel" good. She continued to insult him and condescend to him on that last show; I think he was tired of her.
Actually, they made Michael sign papers stating that he coud not talk about his departure from Live until a set date. That wasn't his choice not to tell Kelly, but his new employer. Note that he doesn't have to tell anybody anything, it's his career and owes no explanation to anybody that ain't signing his paycheck!
@@PrincipalScratcher1 IMO Kelly was not entitled to know of an Exit b4 there was an actual offer on the table......I like her but she was not professional in this instance.
I think Kelly Ripa was ridiculous in dealing with Strahan's exit. He got a better offer, she should have sucked it up and congratulated Mr. Strahan. Honestly, I would be ok if the entire show retired.
Why wouldn't she be able to? Especially if it's at the end of a contract or doing contract negotiations. There were other hosts in co-host before her that left the show so why wouldn't she be able to?
Regis said that she never called him after he left the show, and tried to backdoor him by asking the head of abc to remove him from the show almost a decade earlier so she could have her own show.
Good video, Graeme!! However, I do want to mention that Michael has said in several interviews since leaving the show that Kelly was informed he would be exiting the show and her (fake) reaction was part of why he chose to leave.
oh, that's interesting! first I've heard after all this time has gone by..but doesn't surprise me one bit! and takes her from being a narcissistic little brat to actually scary..for sure she would have sabotaged his last days there if she could have gotten away with it.
So so so, Kelly Rippa has finally got want she wanted since Regis left the show. Now how much are they paying the couple? Why not just cancel the hole show!!!
On the day I quit a job due to health issues, a much younger coworker (mid 20's) was also in the office and heard me give a verbal resignation. He cried. I felt terrible and knew in that instant that although we were only work friends, and he did admire me maybe a little too much, I should have been more sensitive and considerate. I should have let him know before that day. Same with Kelly, only more so since she has been with them for over 20 years. Regardless of who they are, how they feel about each other, or any other conflicts or friendships, it's a professional courtesy to let an on-air partner know that the relationship is ending. A simple, minimal expectation.
Yes but that wasn't the case in this situation. There was bad blood. Kelly had mistreated Michael...so he left and didn't feel the need. She was rude to him and some other stuff that she didn't talk about when she gave that stupid on air temper tantrum like she was the Mistress of the ABC Plantation.
Michael is not you & Kelly is not your coworker, it's a false equivalency because, clearly, your feelings about *your* coworker were not the same for Michael about Kelly. obviously, no matter what things looked like to the TV audience Kelly assumed too much & felt entitled, which is truly grotesque. obviously, he had his own reasons for NOT telling her ahead of time & the showrunners had *their* reasons for *choosing* to respect that they were the only ones he told ahead of time. . so, why would you ever be so disrespectful to think Kelly had more of a right to his personal & professional decision to leave without confiding I'm her than he had a very real right & reasons to keep quiet about it? you don't see him as an real human adult with legitimate, personal thoughts & feelings and that's so par for the course. sure, Kelly was right & Michael was the jerk who didn't let her in..for no reasons you can fathom..you never gave him the benefit of the doubt and that's just...interesting.. because I wonder why. in any case, she was never his wife *or* his best friend or even a close enough friend/acquaintance &.only Michael's actual wife & bosses had a right to know, period. but instead of Kelly taking responsibility for her miscalculated judgement about their work relationship, she chose to be like a bratty child & see Michael as being the one in the wrong..wow! and what's new?? also, btw, Michael has remained quiet, for the most part, but Kelly, who has been in the entertainment industry for decades now, and as much as I, generally liked her before her outlandish public display, has for quite some time had a reputation for being difficult re: coworkers. I just never saw that level of absurdity before but it certainly was telling. and to Michael's credit he, unlike Kelly, who chose to have a very public, drama queen temper tantrum..by *not showing up for work,* 🙄 unlike Kelly, Michael remained professional. also, just because you're can't imagine why, just because you're not privy to his reasons doesn't mean they weren't completely legitimate. it was his preogative to tell who he *felt safe* in telling, ahead of time period. and from the way Kelly reacted and then basically went on strike by eschewing her work responsibilities - because she was so angry that a grown man with his own *life,* wife & children made such a huge & important decision without her permission or blessing.. well, looks like Michael was right to NOT let her get too close! because her anger & her not showing up for work says a LOT more about her than it does about him..and those who assume he was in the wrong have no imagination or understanding of what it was possibly like..for *him.*
...and this was posted in the comments by another RU-vidr, *"TD,"* who encountered both Michael *and* Kelly *at their jobs on set:* "T D 2 months ago I was on Kelly’s show right before Michael left. She was so rude and entitled while Michael stopped backstage, chatted with the guests, and took photos while Kelly was complaining , pointing her fingers at people, and being angry. He owed nothing to anyone else, it was HIS career decision and kelly is a narcissist." and that's*definitely* also telling about Kelly.😒
@@DiandraStarShine what a revelation to find out that Michael is not me and Kelly is not my coworker. I'm shocked! You really ought to look into self-publishing these tomes of your opinions. There may be a market for the book form through Amazon along with all of the other self-published books gathering digital dust. Here, in the YT comment section your passion for the details of the intricate workings of daytime TV hosts is wasted and unlikely to have the influence you desire. I've seen this show approximately three times max, including Kelly with Michael and Kelly with Ryan. Guess you could say I'm not a loyal fan. I am however a professional, aware of professional etiquette. Somehow I doubt that you are yet admit that to say that may be jumping to conclusions since I stopped reading beyond the first few lines of your incredibly long, tiresomely uninteresting comment. I'm not invested in their relationships and haven't the time nor desire to delve into the details of such lives of strangers on television. My personal story, an analogy, was only given to illustrate the value of standard professional courtesies. And you? A relative or crazed fan? Rhetorical question, no need to reply.
her having her own show has, apparently, been her goal..poor #Regis Philbin, god rest his soul.🫒🕊️ + also poor many others who faced Kelly's wrath day in & day out.🫤
@@maddsluiz1296 yeah. it was similar to what happened with Strahan. Probably why she had as big reaction as she did with Strahan. Regis didn't formally tell Kelly either, but back then she had to take it. She wasn't the top billing on the show, he was. i think Kelly just wanted to be included out of respect. i mean she worked with the man for 10 years. women have to work twice as hard and get half the respect. i totally understand it.
Kelly was jealous the Michael got a better gig that provided better pay, more viewership, more job security, and established him more as a reporter/commenter. I think he bothered her because she has more television host experience than him (and doesn’t have a lisp) yet he was hired for a national news station rather than her.
I will miss Ryan on the show but totally understand him leaving with all of his other jobs and commitments. Although I enjoy Mark as a “fill in” co-host from time to time, I wonder if the husband and wife team together EVERYDAY might become a little repetitive or boring?? Let’s hope they use Mark in new ways so it doesn’t just become about stories of them as empty nesters.
Being an old fogey, I'm hoping that Kelly & Mark may harken back to the olden days of husband & wife teams: Stiller & Meara, Lucy & Ricky, Burns & Allen. I was reminded of this on one of the Halloween specials where Mark dressed as Ricky & Kelly was Lucy. It was even more effective in black and white. They are two really talented people!
Totally ! They are indeed the 21st Century Lucy & Ricky ! I just LOVE them ! Ever since they were Hailey & Mateo on AMC ! Loved Kel even B4 Mark was on AMC , when she was “Tink” on AMC ! ( short for Tinkerbell , which her Uncle on AMC called her)
I remember before Ryan was the chosen one they were playing musical chair hosts; and thought it might be Jerry O'Connell who was one of the trial hosts...And Quite frankly would've rather Strahan's successor be someone who really almost needed the gig as opposed to Ryan Seacrest ... ..Conseuelo is a superb humane individual so ...
I feel like nobody says this but like I feel like ABC would never allow Michael Strahan the pivot to just doing Good morning America without telling Kelly and have Michael do all the other stuff he does for ABC News, if Kelly wasn’t the problem. Some thing I remember Kelly speaking about is that she kind of expected ABC of all people to be the ones to tell her if nothing else. because as you pointed out she had been there for years. I feel like they wouldn’t have jeopardize that relationship if they truly didn’t feel like Kelly was the issue. And something you didn’t show was Kelly making jobs at Michael’s divorce when they finally got together again. Which made everyone uncomfortable. I get it this dude went behind your back but at least be professional. I feel like there was a lack of self awareness there. I honestly feel like Michael Strahan if he really was the issue wouldn’t have been given so many of the opportunities he has gotten since for both ABC and Disney as a whole. If they truly didn’t see him as an asset and actually think he was easy to work with. Where is Kelly seems to have just been limited perhaps by choice but limited to live. I don’t know I was got the feeling that no one just wanted to say was the issue. Mostly because I think they knew that despite everything Kelly Ripa going to any other network would be a big deal.
I feel that when the tv movie about Desi Arnaz and Lucille Ball was made back In the early nineties, this particular real life married couple would've been even better for the roles of Desi and Lucy. Although Maurice Bernard and Francis Fischer were phenomenal job, somehow I could still envision the Ripa-Consuelos pair doing a great job on this film.
There was no reason that Micheal needed to share his departure with her. She wasn't his boss .He did what was best for himself and if she was in that position she would have done the same.
Same thing happened when Regis left. She was shocked when he made the announcement. She expected Regis to tell her he was leaving before he announced it, even if he was told to keep it quiet. It's not like she was close to Regis off the set/show right? Did she not claim that they were not close this in her book? so why would Regis release or divulge private info to her when it was obvious he wasn't supposed to. 🙄 Them when it happened a second time with Michael she exploded! Honestly that show is done it was never the same without Regis. Now with her hubby co hosting.....it's about time to close the doors.
Actually I understood that Regis did give her a heads up before announcing it on air, because she didn't react like she was hearing it for the first time.
Yes big difference in the way each co-host left. Kelly was involved in the discussion this time, whereas last time, she was kept out of the loop and blindsided.
She didn’t need to be in the loop about someone else’s life choices. Mike did what was best for him. It’s that type of entitlement that is the killer. What makes her think she needs to be in the loop? She better sit in that high top chair and mind HER business for as long as she can.
@@karoltowns8384 Wow hate much, it's not about entitlement, it's about courtesy to your partner that you're doing a show with together. Regis gave her the courtesy of letting her know beforehand, and now so has Ryan. It's just good ethic.
@@idotgotitme3280 All day, every day! So he needed to be “courteous”? No. He owed her nothing. She felt like she was owed something an explanation or whatever because of who she is. Again, no
@@karoltowns8384 No, not because of who she is, and nobody said anything about "all day, every day" but because it was something major, it's just the right thing to do. Kathy Lee talked to Regis about her departure before it was announced on air, but I bet if he was blindsided the same way, everybody would be all over that, saying, oh that's terrible, why didn't she let him know instead of him finding out that way, but because it's Kelly, everyone is the opposite, aren't they.
Kelly wasn't signing Michaels checks, any he wasn't allowed to discuss his leaving the show until a set date had approached as per the request of his his new job.
@@words.Of.Truth. common courtesy doesn't outweigh the legal ramifications of an NDA by a very large company that has already hired you. I like Kelly, but she was being a Petty Betty to Mike about his paycheck. Because I'm damn sure her check and livelihood was not at stake. Period!!!
first of all Strahan did it under the table behind Kelly's back. His leaving was closer to Regis leaving. She was out of the loop on both. they blind sided her. Ryan was totally open and included Kelly. Ryan included her like a partner. Strahan treated her like an afterthought. i would have acted just like she did. Strahan is allowed to do whatever he wants, but his reaction to and how he went about leaving hurt Kelly and she is allowed to have those feelings.
What an ignorant statement.Ryan was there six years, if you don’t think that’s a long stretch for somebody who had to travel back-and-forth when you are really misguided.
@@mariakoufalis1487 just because someone has an opinion that doesn't mean their ignorant, I believe everything Regis said , she probably wanted her husband with her all the time HONEY
@@marywhite5342 simply because you have an opinion it doesn’t make it correct. What you are saying is false. You make it sound like it’s been a revolving door and it’s been a new cohost every year. You are off the mark HONEY.
Michael and ABC CHOSE to not inform her ahead of time which is truly disrespectful no matter if they got along or not. Ryan spoke to her about it over a period of time. Kept her in the loop. Showed her the respect she deserves as his co-host. I don’t care if you like each other or not. You don’t pull the crap Michael and ABC did. I blame ABC more though. Even if Michael may have said he didn’t want her to know, ABC is the friggin boss and could have said no.
I'm not sure how I would have handled it. But it wouldn't have been the way it was. The long drawn out season long departure for Ryan was a little bit over the top too much. I'm not sure how it will be with a husband and a wife situation will be on a full-time basis either. But I still would rather watch Kelly and whoever or whoever and whoever live than anything on the view or Jimmy Kimmel because those shows will not be shown in my house
I actually like Ryan and think he's does well with the guest co hosts and enjoy the show better on those days. I actually wish Kelly was leaving and Ryan was taking over the show. She's all over the place and not funny or attention grabbing at all.
Because it is a 2 person man and woman show. It has been that way since Regis and Kathy. If they give her a show alone, they would need to cancel this one and give her a new one.
I guess I’m in the minority but I’ve never liked Kelly so once she became the lead I very seldom tune in. One thing I can say is a husband and wife team is the worst possible option.
@slashFredo Obviously, you never saw them together when Mark was a co-host...because it is wonderful to watch...now it might not be the best idea for their relationship...who knows...but they seem on it enough to change it if it becomes an issue. I, for one, will be watching.
Nah, I get it. Her male co-hosts seemed more like sidekicks than actual co-hosts. Maybe that is what their contracts dictate, but if not, she was too dominant. Possibly that's what drove Strahan away. I agree with you on husband-wife teams on TV, but maybe they'll do well. I wish them the best.
Kelly is brilliant, comedic, witty just like all male night time talk hosts. Ryan has good stories but, he is a "One" man show. He doesnt have the patience to listen to his co-host stories. He was constantly interrupting her and putting his own words & sentences to complete "HER" stories. He would accuse Kelly " Why are you yelling". Little bickering that was noticeable to me, the viewer. He is NOT happy unless he has all the gigs on TV. They have a name for that behavior. He is 48, drinks many caffeine coffee drinks a day, getting sick alot working bi-coastal. Bound to take a toll on him. It's about time Disney Executives made an exit plan for Ryan. I believe he was canned and they allowed him to say "I" Am Resigning and having Ryan's girlfriend there on Thursday was so orchestrated. NOW, we can have our funny, witty, comical story teller Kelly BACK!!
Kelly wrongly felt entitled to such a significant decision in Michael's life, which is obnoxious! they're weren't married or best friends! she obviously had belief about their 'relationship' that wasn't at all true for him & she never considered that HE was entitled to *his* privacy! only his own wife and the show bosses had a right to know ahead of time. but her reaction was sh*tty, bratty, assuming & so condescending & the way she treated Michael was 💯% inexcusable. really not a good look, bad optics & esp. considering USA history & it's ongoing, horrific effects. truly shameful & I used to like Kelly but I never saw her in the same light again.
Glad to see Ryan scaling back after working so hard all these years. With Kelly & Michael I feel that Kelly developed feelings for him. There’s a reason he didn’t feel comfortable telling her. He probably knew.
This commentator doesn’t know what Michael had to go through. Anytime the majority of a company is of one race there we’re probably some issues, like ego, acting privileged, ect, even his commentary smacks of it. Michael’s doing fine so no worries. I’m sure he could have aired some of Kelly’s ego-trippin but he didn’t so please
I kinda think Kelly is a snake in the ground. Plus I think it is weird that her husband is going to be the co-host. IDK. To be honest I don't watch those morning shows anymore. Ryan is more of an asset to American Idol. He does it best when it is scripted and occasionally he has to be quick witted when something extraordinary or really odd occurs. Mark isn't really quick witted and people don't want to see a real life husband and wife batter, unless it is I Love Lucy.
I don't get the issue. The show started as a husband and wife team, "Reages and Kathy Lee." So it's not strange. Kelly replaced Kathy Lee when her and Reages got a divorce and she left the show.
Have you ever seen an episode with Kelly & her husband Mark hosting the show? I believe not, if so your opinion would not be filled with so much ignorance on the matter.
This show, like The View, has had its moment! Feels like very old programing. Stopped watching both. No reflection on the hosts, but put them both out to pasture.
Why does people like this love to keep stuff going! I wish I had this much time create these narratives that mean absolutely nothing! Kelly, Mike & Ryan are getting paid and living their best lives, and this does what? NOTHING! WOW...
I thought it was very entitled for Kelly to think that she should be in the loop when Strahan quit. First ABC told him not to say anything until a specific time, and second NO ONE OWES HER ANYTHING!!! When I give notice to my job, I make it a point to tell my manager and HR not to announce it, that I will leave quietly. Where I'm going and what I'm doing is no one's business and I'm sure Strahan felt the same.
I still don’t understand how Michael Strahan was on Kelly and Michael or Good Morning America… I have a very hard time understanding him when he speaks and he has absolutely no charisma! LoveKelly and Mark together!
Well if her husband blind sides her with an announcement of leaving the show, it's going to be really awkward at the dinner table later that day, when someone asks "So how was everyone's day today?" 😅
I personally liked when Michael was on the show. I’m not going to lie but I thought Kelly & Michael was bonking. Do y’all remember the episode where they kissed on the lips? They were at a yoga studio I believe.
It’s always been fun when Mark cohosts and I hope it goes well… but it reminds me of the Hoda/Kathie Lee/Jenna Bush Hager situation. I loved when Jenna filled in but once Kathie Lee was gone with her sarcastic quips and put downs (at times) we were left with a too mushy gushy show. I hope Kelly and Mark can avoid that.
wow! & I'd heard about being difficult & giving attitude for years but THAT'S one I hadn't heard about! she's a snobby, fearful sociopath..and no way Clay didn't notice! and the *showrunners* should have been done with her after that..dam!
This show is a perfect example of higher ups just keeping a show going for the sake of doing it…. No one watches this show…. Kelly is boring asf Michael and Ryan were cool… That show needs an overhaul… Maybe… Tia & Tamera or Mario Lopez & Tamar Braxton Or Leah Remini and JLO would be dope… Leah is funny as heck… Monique & Kristen schaal Chelsea peralta & iliza Schlesinger Molly Shannon & Maya Rudolf Pam & Gina from the Martin show.. lol
I stopped watching when Regis left and only watch when Mark co-hosts. I am so excited Seacrest is out. Yuck lol. And yum for Mark ha ha. Excited for this change.
