Ben, as someone who's been surfing for 57 years now, I think your great contribution is celebrating the joy of surfing even the tiniest, crappiest conditions. All of the focus has been on big and perfect, which leaves people jaded and whiny when conditions are "just" fun and average. I have so many friends who have been ruined from traveling. I love all conditions. And I love riding any board ... even if it were a front door. I live right at the beach in northern Oregon, and when I look at junky surf, I always tell myself, "Gravy would go!" And then I get my ass out there and have a great time.

I think its the relatable aspect to it and your back stories, I like the fact that Jordan's a big part of it too and some of your mates who are just regular blokes are such a laugh too. The bald geezer a couple of years back used to be hilarious. You're up there with the likes of Koa and his mates on the North shore in terms of comedy and not taking yourself too seriously. Then on the flip-side, some of the stuff you convey to us is really moving, I'm in tears sometimes! You're the real deal Ben Gravy and you're a good bloke.

Actual joy and satisfaction/happiness, or even the actual attempt at positivity and happiness, thats the real draw to any one human from another. It takes trying all day every day sometimes, but man is it worth it to try.
