Frasier, I think at times wanted to execute Lilleth if even just for shits n giggles. I think Carla's hi-heels really did something for her, possibly she was the mother of a show that was about a Mexican guy and his family.
Frazier's best line in Cheers was after he finished writing his will he was at the bar and says: "I can go home and face death now, I just hope I don't wake her up".
I loved the scene where the guys are stranded in the desert and they all are figuring they are going to die. So Cliff starts describing how he figured all the guys would have died. "Sam, I figured would be killed my a jealous husband. Norm would probably die of a heart attack. Dr. Crane now..." "Please Cliff, I don't want to know how I will die," says Fraiser. Cliff then says, "You bet you don't want to know!"
The bit where the guys hire a stripper for Frasier but she turns out to be a psychiatric client. After escorting her out of the bar he later admits partially wanting to see her “shake her nonnies”😂😂
I believed this when I was younger but I use the no sex on my wife when I am prepping for a course exam to focus and she always tries to seduce me not because she is horny but because she wants to see if she can make me crack.
the guy who plays cliff created his character. he auditioned for the show but didn't get it and he asked them if they had a bar know it all character. they hadn't thought of that. he did and demonstration and they liked the character. he was only going to be on once in a while as well originally.
@@seanmaury7844 Forgot about that scene. Frasier was hysterical when he reeled off that line & ran around the bar!!! I remember laughing out loud, it was so funny. Thanks for bringing back a great memory!!!😂🤣😂
Loved Cheers; however, Frazier is one of the best comedies in tv history. The casting of David Hyde Pierce as Fraser's brother was brilliant. I still laugh my ass off whenever I catch a rerun.
John Mahoney, who played his dad was my favorite and really added that "Cheers" dimension to the show. He was the one to smack Frasier and Niles into reality and not be such pretentious blowhards.
DHP was so great at physical comedy. My favorite Niles moment was when he got shaving cream all over him. "I'm just a little hot.... and foamy." He always made me laugh way more than Frasier. The show is on Hulu right now.
@@FactsVerse the episode where Fraser hosts a get together for a politician who turned out to be something Fraser was not expecting. However I thought every one of the shows were brilliant. Another super episode was the brothers thinking they came from Russian royalty.

There are many, many brilliantly written, produced and performed shows being made these days, but the fact is that free to air networks mainly produce drivel for the masses while various streaming services produce some gems among the dross they also spew forth.
Yes, I'll miss Niles and Daphne when they won't be on. I'll also miss Roz - and even though Martin's been written off because of Mahoney's passing, he was married to Wendie Malik for the last year - what about step-mummy turning up?😆
@@elainebrumage9396 hi Elaine , I loved frasier too , at the start I didn’t not like Nialls he seemed miscast , but he ended up my favourite one , his mannerisms were very funny and often touching , but all of them were perfect
David Hyde Pierce was the voice for Abe Sapiens in Hellboy but didn't want screen credit. He felt it took credit away from the actor who physically portrayed the fish-humanoid.
If Frazier was a diamond then Niles was his 24k gold setting. One of the few shows I can go back and binge watch and laugh just as much the second or third go round. All the characters were great but DHP was one of my favorites. His slapstick reminded me of Dick Van Dyke because of how well they both did the physical comedy. That takes on a whole nother level of talent.
Frasier is simply the best US sitcom ever made. Best actors, best writers, brilliantly delivered lines. Every episode a masterpiece. I've seen every episode a multitude of times and will never tire of it. Love Kelsey Grammar.
@@jamesbrice6619 It is hard to argue against the huge success of Seinfeld. I must grant that it’s comic appeal has lasted longer than I thought it would. I was under the mistaken assumption that’s it’s cultural reference comedy would not withstand the test of time. I could not have been more wrong. TLDR: yada yada yada 😅
@@jamesbrice6619 Seinfeld was never really a hit here in the UK, sometimes humour doesn't travel so well. Frasier was a huge hit here, I think only MASH is its equal but that's just my personal taste.
@paul hanson Frazier is actually my second favorite sit com next to Seinfeld. I know what you mean about different cultures rejecting certain shows from other countries. I remember that the Monty Python crew were astounded that America loved their show even more than Great Britain did.
We watched all three shows he played Fraiser; Cheers, Wings and Frasier. Frasier being my favorite. It was such a perfect casting of Martin and Niles. Martin being so opposite of Fraiser and Niles was so entertaining. He dressed like my dad and my dad was on a cane alot. Dad loved the show too. But Niles was the absolute show stealer for me. He looked like Kelsey Grammar and acted just like Fraiser when he started on Cheers but was also so unique. The way he would sneak a sniff of Daphne’s hair, his descriptions of Maris, the constant competitions with Fraiser, and the over the top snark and sarcasm with Roz and countless others, was absolutely phenomenal and so funny.
I briefly met David Hyde Pierce many years ago in Los Angeles at a charity event he was hosting. He was so down-to-earth and humble. I told him I loved his performance in his former sit-com, "The Powers That Be." He laughed and said I was the only one who watched that show! LOL.
Yep, they hired David and then he darned near walked off with the show! On paper Niles is just an impossible character but David made it work. I know a lot of "Frasier" fans who say that Niles is their favorite character.
@@cherylhulting1301 I so agree -- Niles is my favorite character on Frasier also. In an odd, un-related coincidence, my favorite character on The Nanny was also named Niles, the butler, played perfectly by Daniel Davis.
"Diane" appeared on "Frasier" four times, I believe. That tells me that Grammer's irritation with her was not that significant. And honestly, how many people have worked closely with someone for years and not been irritated by them at least a few times?!
Unintentionally, I didn't start watching "Cheers" until Kirstie's chr. Rebecca showed up-not Shelley's fault- but I liked Kirstie as Lt. Saavik and hadn't watched Shelley's in anything then. No re-boots, please! I'd rather watch DVD set episodes or "reruns-on Roku channels.
I was a nightclub musician back in those days, and there was one Cheers casting choice that intertwined with my life: The old man in the brown fedora who always sat by the back wall. Every bar I ever played in had some version of that old guy perched on his favorite stool, pontificating his opinions on everything, including my musicianship! North or South, East or West, these old guys were everywhere! I hope they're still out there, God bless 'em!
I hope Niles makes guest appearances. And I would LOVE if Lilith ends up the Dean at the college where Frasier teaches! Their chemistry is lightning in a bottle!
@@fobbitoperator3620 Very doubtful that you will ever see Maris, because she is still considered a wanted woman remember she escaped prosecution to a unknown South American country for the death of her Latin boyfriend…
@@barbaragray5781 I heard that and he was suffering from dimentia? I never know if these are true and really going on in their real life. Their performance is what I look at and he's very good.
I've always prefered *"Fraiser"* over *"Friends,"* which started around that mid 90s period. Never knew Kelsey was supposed to be in just 3 episodes of *"Cheers."* Comedy classic. UK fan.👍
It has been reported that Shelley Long had a particular acting process which involved long times before shooting and long costume fitting sessions. I have also heard that Kelsey on Frasier that did not like rehearsals and preferred to do only one take, reacting to the other actors in ways they might not be prepared for. Perhaps the truth is somewhere in the middle. I feel that Shelley Long made the right decision to leave after 5 seasons when the character had been fully explored. Cheers was a better series as a whole with the end of the Sam and Diane story line giving the series new life. Long and Grammer were both brilliant in their roles. as was the entire cast.
I agree with your points about Long, but disliked the show after she left. I watched on and off, but never liked the Rebecca character or how inept they made her.
I didn’t like the show after Diane left and really disliked the Rebecca character. I didn’t like the Frazier character either on Cheers. Too much of a high brow wimp! But, Frasier is one of my favorite series. It was the combination of the other characters, his father, Niles, the dog, and Daphne that made it the funniest tv show that I’ve ever watched.
Such a great show!! I actually liked the show better when the late Kirstie Alley joined the show. We all don't get along with everyone but you just keep moving. 😊 What's amazing is Shelley Long appeared on Frasier. Great upload ❣️ Thank you my friends 😊
I always thought that Kelsey could play the legendary Bob Hope if the ever made a biopic of his life. He has a strong resemblance to a younger Bob Hope.
Kelsey played Chuck Smith in the movie The Jesus Revolution just released, and he was great in the movie. Everyone should support Kelsey and go see it.
I remember seeing the character of Diane on one particularly hilarious episode of Frasier where she once again 'screwed' Frasier over for another man. I don't remember seeing her a second time.
The thing that made Frasier such a great show, aside from Kelsey's talent, was the incredible chemistry between the 4 leads. David Hyde Pierce had a real talent for physical comedy and wordplay. I don't know if that can be recaptured but I'll give it a try.
Kelsey Grammer is a true talent. In addition to creating the character of Frasier, he brought the memorable character of Sideshow Bob to life simply by doing his voice, in the long-running cartoon The Simpsons. It's also my understanding that he created and executive produced the show "Girlfriends" which was essentially a version of Sex and the City but with an ensemble, all African American cast.
There was an episode with Side Show Bob that featured his "Brother" which was, of course, voiced by David Hyde Pierce. Bob I believe was trying to prevent his brother from allowing a poorly built dam his brother had intentionally built badly from collapsing. He was trying to embezzle some of the money earmarked for the dam's construction and blame it all on Bob. I don't remember the exact details of the episode but the ending was funny with both characters arguing over who gets the top bunk in prison.
@@baileyyard5116 I remember that episode. At the end Bob ended up getting arrested along with his brother because Chief Wiggum didn't believe him to be innocent.
I never got into Cheers, mainly because I was working most of the time when it was playing, but I thought Frasier was one of the funniest shows I have ever watched. I was working graveyard shift and got the videos from Netflix and watched the entire series like that. Hilarious show.
You know there was an episode of Saint Elsewhere in which the doctors stopped in at cheers for a drink. Both the hospital and of course the bar were located in Boston. Wasn't a long appearance, but was cute how they mixed "Cheers" humor with "Saint Elsewhere's" drama. No Cliff "Brain Jokes" unfortunately... LOL
I was, and still am I suppose, "In love" with Diane...I thought she was just the cutest thing to ever walk shoe leather...and later with Roz on Fraiser. Kelsey? I haven't seen him in anything where I didn't like him. "Up Periscope" was a riot. My wife and I watch two episodes of "Fraiser" before bed to this day. When we get to the end, we just start over. My wife suffered a ruptured aneurysm in her brain many years ago, and it has affected her memory, so for her, it's a lot like a new show every week.
It's wonderful that the two of you have that to share now. I agree with you on Kelsey's acting. I really enjoyed "Swing Vote" with Kevin Costner, Kelsey, Dennis Hopper, etal. My thoughts are with you two, from Montana.
Frasier was my all time favourite comedy. A reboot would be wonderful. However, without the characters of Martin (deceased), Niles, Daphne and Roz, who have declined to participate, who is left? They were the main characters. You can't recreate the show with Bulldog, Bebe and a few other assorted and occasional actors.
well it's the same as saying Frasier crane spinoff without the rest of the main cast of Cheers. Fraise was fantastic with Roz , Niles, Daphne and Martin ect so I see this 2023 addition really just another chapter of Frasier Crane's life.
It's not quite the same, if you look at the development of characters on each show.. Cheers was a huge ensemble set in a bar. Frazier was a more personal and familial setting. The secondary characters stood out more. I will miss Daphne and Niles especially
Kirsty Ally was such a funny and beautifull actress...known for being straight-up honest and authentic. Loved to see her..sadly passed away too soon. Grammer is such a natural comedic actor with nuances that are lying underneath. His talent was thus that he quickly got his own show..Frazer being his best character!
So sad that Niles isn't coming back also. Frasier was a brilliant show with Niles and Fraser's banter some of the best humour in the show! Same with their father..RIP. He is irreplacable! Roz's role in the show as Frasier's Producer will be really missed also
Frazier and Niles rank right up there with Barney and Andy. After watching reruns every week day for a while, I found I couldn’t keep from laughing nonstop. Seattle will never be looked at as the same after those two played it to the hilt.
My teenage love was a girl who looked EXACTLY like Kirstie facially (she was actually 6ft tall). We broke up, and man was it interesting watching Cheers with Kirstie for awhile! LOL. She and I are still in touch to this day after 44 years and she STILL resembles Kirstie.
Another role Kesley was in X-Men. When I heard he would play Hank McCoy I was absolutely happy. I was a avid comic book reader in the early 70s. I thought the choice was great as I saw him as one of the best selection for superhero movies
Frazier was the funniest sit com ever. I still watch it and no matter how many times I’ve seen the episodes, I still belly laugh. The whole cast was great especially Frazier and Niles.
Both Cheers and Frasier were my favorite shows in the 80's and 90's. The writing, the acting, the timing. I loved those shows! But early Cheers (Sam and Diane) was my most favorite. I get it, that relationship couldn't have kept going... so it needed to end. But their whole dynamic and chemistry- well, it was really fun to watch. I rewatched the whole series during Covid and it was pretty enlightening. Having had a relationship end that completely mirrored Sam and Diane was, well, sobering.
I loved ALL those shows...Cheers, Frasier, Wings, Taxi, Night Court and even WKRP in Cincinnati which was a 70s show that they tried to re-do in the 80s.
Diane and Frazier were great characters. The problem is Long did not understand Hollywood and got a big head. Grammer is a great actor and understood the ups and downs of stardom, that is why he still is a relevant actor to this day.
Kelsey also did a great job playing a hard-boiled mayor of Chicago in a short-lived series a few years ago. I think it was called “Boss.” I wish it had stayed on the air longer.
It was too dark and it seems he did his utmost to make of his character the most despicable, unlikable douchebag ever, maybe to compensate for all the many light moments he had brought to his audiences, to show he could also do hardcore drama, but he really went overboard. For example Mr. Mayor would incarcerate his own estranged daughter to score political points with his electorate and would also be in the habit of receiving visitors in his office while still in the adjacent bathroom doing his business with the door wide open and he would come out to shake their hand without even washing his. So I could understand why it was so short lived, that is not the kind of stuff his fans wanted to see. Of course he blamed the demise of the show of politics but it was the content.
I love how Frazier just went on to become "one of the guys". Its hard to believe that Frazier was there w Coach for one season. Im in the middle of my bi-yearly Cheers binge. My God this show is STILL hilarious!!!😉
I rewatched every Cheers episode during the pandemic (yes, I’m proud of myself😅). What a great show. It surprised me how different times were back then, however.
Being a child of the 60's I watched some of the most iconic TV shows ever, but IMO, Fraser by far is the funniest shows ever made. Kelsey Grammar is a fantastic actor.
I believe Kelsey Grammar had his own wit, and his own way of production a speaking part in the beginning. He is a Brilliant Writer ! I'm certain he would inflict his own charm of his charismatic personality, on both Cheers, 🖼 & especially Frasier. Well Done, Mr. Grammar ♥️🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🇬🇧🎨
@@MajesticalHonky Today EVERYTHING would be cancelled that was made in EVERY decade! To people who cancel, NOTHING is valid except their own narrow vision! Cheers & Frasier will always stand the test of time because funny translates through the decades🤷♀️
I binged watched Cheers, every single episode, for 3 months and I could have watched 20 more episodes. I loved the characters development and how the bar itself was one of the main characters. Who would have ever thought that Woody Harrelson would turn out to be the most successful actor coming out of Cheers. I was a bit disappointed how Rebecca was just married off to Tom Beringer in the last episode, I thought that was lazy writing. This was a great show and characters like Cliff, Norm, Coach, Woody made you feel as if you knew them personally and became part of our culture. Bravo!!!
Harrelson MIGHT of turned out to be the most successful actor but Danson made the most money. Harrelson was NEVER the lead actor or top billed in any of his successful movies. Danson never really had a huge movie career but he was given a shot at a lead roll in the film Cousins, he just never generated enough buzz as a lead. His TV career however, (Cheers, Becker, CSI) if you ask me trumps what Harrelson did in film as a supporting actor.
Most of this is ridiculous. Kelsey had Shelly guest starring on Frasier many times. He was in charge, and if he had an issue with her she wouldn't have made a single appearance on his show. Shelley had ideas of a big movie career which unfortunately never happened for her. That's the reason she left Cheers. I loved Kirstie....God rest her sweet soul. As for the reboot, not sure. I'll tune in...perhaps magic can strike a second time, however without Jane, Peri, and David I don't see how.
@@nysavvy9241 oops, you're right. I always forget about the dream sequence and the one with all of Frasier's women as I find them both pretty boring and skip them.

But since I have Starz, maybe I will give Boss a try.
Funnily enough, Long's cameo role as Diane in Frasier was a means for both the characters and their actors to make peace. Grammer even listed it as one of his favourite episodes as a result.
That was clearly nonsense. Actors get paid a ton of money. No producer would keep an actor simply to annoy another actor. Ridiculous. And really mean-spirited of Grammer to say so, especially so many years later.
@@Historian212 I think that book was quite a while later, not sure of that. To be fair, salacious crap sells books, and maybe ONE writer said that to him as a joke. Oddly enough actors often don't have much of a sense of humour and can't tell jokes from reality. I even remember a standup comedian telling a story that he said as if it was true when it was clearly a writer telling them a joke.
I think a Frasier reboot could work. I mean, whatever role Kelsey Grammer plays on a sitcom, he'll always be Frasier to us anyway. Might be weird if he was any other character.
The reboot so far has been hilarious! He's back in Boston and I hope some of the old cheers cast and Frasier cast change their minds and make guest appearances!
@@FactsVerse Wings was one of my favorite shows growing up and so was Home Improvement. Wings was created by those of cheers and Frasier and lasted 8 seasons with a great cast. It's really underrated and fantastic!
I didn't discover Cheers until it was probably in it's third season, then kicked myself for not watching it sooner. Such a great show! Frazier is a very worthy spin-off show too. Both are still funny. I just hope the new Frazier show lives up to it's predecessors and not go the way of the new Night Court, which I think is horrible and only worth seeing for John Larroquette.
We have the entire FRASIER series on our DVR and watch episodes every night. The actors were amazing, the writers brilliant. Fav comedy series of all time.
@FactsVerse We have many favorites. Choosing just one, it would be THREE VALENTINES. Season 6, episode 14. David is such an amazing actor, and this was yet another Niles at his funniest.
I think the producers' assessment was right on the money . . . Kelsey deserved the "promotion" to stay on the show because of his skills as an actor, and that to suggest otherwise does, in fact, short-change what Kelsey brought to the character. It was a great show, with great actors and writing!
One of my favorite Frasier/Cheers moments: Cliff going on one of his long-winded, totally wrong and utterly crazy speeches about something or other. Frasier sitting next to him, staring at Cliff the entire time. Then when Cliff's finished, Frasier makes a perfect comedic pause and then carefully asks, "Cliff, what color is the sky in your world?" First time I'd EVER heard that line (I assume it was invented by the writers of the show) and it's become a mainstay. And it STILL cracks me up because of the way Kelsey Grammar delivered it.
I work at a small community college in Southern Oregon. I know some faculty who are counselors and work with students, one in particular who is about Frasier's would-be age. This would be a great "step down" for Frasier, and I can see all kinds of potential storylines for this.
At that point, she'd gone from local furniture commercials to a local talk show on NBC, then Caveman, then....say what anyone likes to say about her, she kicked ass as Carol Brady in the Brady Bunch movies. 😅😅😅😅
@@FactsVerse are you kidding?! Great stuff!
A man stands up for himself and his professional worth, and he’s strong and self-confident. A woman stands up for herself and her professional worth, and she is called “difficult” and worse. “How dare a woman have a problem with being paid on average, 30% less for the same job and and equal or better quality of work?!” Case in point, both the British and American women’s national soccer teams.
I loved both of them. But Shelley wanted to get into movies. Shelley brought a touch of class to the show and Frasier was more of an intellectual. Bless them both.
Frasier had a strong ensemble cast. The best shows have them - Cheers, Seinfeld, Modern Family, 3rd Rock, Community... No single character carries the entire show. To expect a Fraiser reboot to work with one character and a hostile audience demanding to know where Niles and Daphne are is a big ask.
